Celtic will win despite the First Minister

302

Let’s be clear on the rules, football has been granted special status and operate within different Covid guidelines to the rest of us.  This is why players could travel to and from the UK for international duty this month without having to isolate.   Players were permitted into Scotland this week who in the last two weeks have been to countries where they would normally have to isolate on landing here.

Nicola Sturgeon made a personal intervention into Celtic’s season when Boli Bolingoli broke isolation rules.  Celtic were not allowed to play for two weeks after this event.  I was so angry at Bolingoli I did not complain.  Rules were changed on the hoof to punish Celtic but there was culpability, so fair enough.

Ryan Christie is healthy.  He has been told to isolate at the whim of the same First Minister.  Kieran Tierney, who is also healthy, is also subject to political whim.  But not by a government that has kettled Arsenal fans in the manner this government kettled Celtic fans.

I grew out of political fantasies years ago.  Politicians are not your friend, they are not even good friends to those they share a rosette with.  My colours are green and white only, and we will win tomorrow despite the whim of the First Minister.

  1. I have no scooby who will prevail the morra, as many have said if we turn up we win, thing is it’s been a while against thems since we bothered turning up, at least it seems like that, I have said for years and years, win the midfield win the game, this is something that we haven’t done for a while, so I hope the coaches have realised this, we have better players no doubt, they just have to show it.

Shame game?? The only shame game I can recall did not involve Sevco,it was the time we were cuffed at Ibrox by St Mirren and our ” fans” tried to get game abandoned.

The game which prompted the act was at Celtic park, and was an over reaction by the politicians.

Maybe I missed some other shame game, which is unlikely.

  3. Can anybody point me to a source, other than our Neil Lennon, which states that Kieran Tierney can play against Manchester City at the weekend? That counts out the Sun and the Herald.

Excathedra…that was a Willie Fernie led St Mirren, of course…well gubbed we were.

Ta for reply, yes half their team were players we should have had,Tommy Bryceland,Gerry Baker etc.

We were well beaten by half time.

I’m pretty sure we won comfortably at Ibrox last September but have failed to impose our game on them in the two matches after that, even though we won the League Cup final.

  6. Peterlatchfordsbelly…………Now that’s some mouthful. As father Jack might say, I know feck all about Scottish politics, Nicola Sturgeon like my wife probably has feck all interest in football but in my case the squaw loves my passion for football and sport in general.

Although there are still nearly thirty matches to play this season, tomorrows match is special in that we don’t know if this championship will ever finish in the current climate.

  9. OK for the anti Nicola supporters to have a go,but because the English want to bend rules, why should we.She has always tried to be straight with the public, admitting mistakes, but asking everyone to please try and uphold the rules. How would it look if she changed them now.

As for putting R before C,give it a fekin rest.Any chance for our Unionist division to have a go,in like a shot.

    Apart from that,so bloody childish.

    Christie is out

    ====================================

Yes but Celtic need to demand WHO made the decision, and why the deviation from KT.

If its a Scottish interpretation vs English interpretation, then why were the International opposition allowed in.

Lets cut to the chase its any anti Celtic decision is acceptable.

Thank you kindly. The funeral was Tuesday passed. Received a letter from his best friend in New Zealand whom has cast new light on their trip to Lisbon for the final in ’67, which I’ll post in due course. It makes for interesting reading alright!

I’m really not bothered if Christie is ‘out’.

He ran about like a girl in the League Cup final and along with Mikey Johnson and James Forest, was lamentably feeble in retaining possession against them at the end of last year.

    He’s no loss.

We have Nitcham, Rogic and Turnbull who are more than capable of filling his boots.

  17. Paddy Power has Celtic 6/4 & the Huns 13/8 basically a 50/50 prediction.

That is the way I see it too, I will probably get slaughtered for saying this but I won’t be devastated if it ends in a draw.

Praying for a Celtic win but as long as we don’t lose, I’ll take it & move on.

Home advantage is really of little value without the crowd and I think that has fed into the odds as well.

Also heard a rumour that Julien won’t make it and that Welsh will start.

  18. I’m beginning to feel a bit more confident about tomorrow, thankfully.

2 strikers up front and I reckon it’s only ours to throw away. Also the 5 subs will work in our favour – Griffiths or Ajeti and Turnbull coming off the bench to ensure the points are ours.

I don’t want to be wishing my life away but If I could fast forward 16 hours…

  19. Corkcelt, I was thinking the same way earlier but I’m feeling a bit more confident now.

I think with there being no crowd Brown becomes even more important tomorrow. Fingers crossed he’s doing the Broony to Kent at the final whistle.

  22. Very intriguing the comparison with KT and Ryan Christie’s eligibility to play tomorrow.

It has been suggested that KT may have certain antibodies as he tested positive in August that may influence the decision.

At this time that is only speculation, however that theory really needs confirmed or denied in due course.

If true, it opens up a complete new strategy and not just for the two aforementioned individuals.

Yep, we haven’t even started this season.

We’re well below our form, and missing a fair few players, and of those available very few inform.

    This was the Shame Game.

    McCoist provoking NFL

Diouf, Boughera & Whittaker getting reds.

    Outrage in the rags.

Condemnation by politicians who saw a chance to look important

But it was game after the infamous summit to which I refer.

The summit was touted as Govt sorting out the OF chaos & mayhem but it was a PR exercise for raising their profile only.

The next OF game was at Ibrox & the hordes let rip their whole catalogue of bitter tunes for almost the whole 90 minutes.

MacAskill was there in his Sports Minister capacity & chose to not hear any of the bile which apparently came from all round the ground. To present himself & the summit as a success he opined something like

“A wonderful game played in a fine spirit & a credit to the nation.”

The truth for Celtic & us was that it was about as poisonous an atmosphere as most could ever recall.

Rankers got an A+ grade & we were told to move along Timmy & be grateful we let you in.

Thank you so much for a quite excellent post. I remember a lot of it. I think you mentioned the 0-4 defeat to the foe malign in a Cup replay of 1961?? It was played on a Wednesday afternoon. Celtic had been very unlucky in the original drawn game and a young Jinky had played a blinder. His reward – dropped for the replay.

I heard the score on the radio and told Alec Byrne’s young brother who would not believe it.

Those were days of despair. The team would play like world-beaters for a couple of games before succumbing to mighty Airdrie. But God is good to those who wait.
