Celtic with a an outlet for frustration

194

Current form is not required to provide a bit of nervousness for visits to the Tony Macaroni.  Our three visits since 2007 have returned two draws and a defeat to Livingston, Callum McGregor and Tom Rogic’s goals on our last visit are the only times we have scored in that period.

Having watched Livingston and Hibs face an equally depleted Celtic in recent days, it was clear which team is stronger, although my interpretation is not supported by the bookies odds on which of them is more likely to lift the League Cup.  Livingston failed to win their first game in nine against Celtic, for any team, they are remarkably strong.

Plastic has not been our friend in West Lothian or Ayrshire, while indiscipline, in the form of a red card-inducing lunge by Ryan Christie last season didn’t help either.  Both factors can be mitigated.

Our recent visits to Livingston and their current form have no relevance for Celtic tonight.  We have a significantly stronger squad who have a point to prove.  All that frustrated energy that was evident in Neil Lennon and no doubt exists with the players has an outlet.  No excuses tonight, Celtic, get the job done.

    BADA

Most likely where he’ll end up . The Newcastle job can be a bit of a graveyard for managerial careers .

He’d be better coming to us but we’re more likely to end up with John Kennedy , Jack Ross or Roy Keane.

    Andy Halliday re Scott Brown

“Any ding-dong you have with Scott Brown or anyone during a game is brilliant, stuff after the game I don’t agree with but anything that happens on the pitch, aye. He’s obviously a leader and I think when he does that he gets the best out of him, to be honest I’m probably a bit similar”

he comes across on SSB as a fairly reasonable sort of person – even though he did play for thems

    Mr Howe 1/4fav

Is this based on Kieran Trippier type money ie telling his mates he’s going to Celtic and then all piling in?

Or is it bookies reading Celtic cyberspace and reacting to various reports of the modern day equivalent of Owen Coyle’s granny?

Because he’s 1/4 does not necessarily mean he’s been backed. It merely means that firms do not want to attract money on him for fear others may know more that they do.

he has suprised me as a pundit, honest accurate assessments of celtic games and players, with no real spin on things, also smarter than he looks. maybe it is because he is still playing, maybe it will change over time.

I have no opinion on the matter. I was simply furnishing some information in response to another post.

  8. With Andy Walker due to appear on stage to-night and particularly with all the background music of recent days Sky Masterson could never have dreamed that the Livi-Celtic game could turn out to be such a showstopper for the channell.

  9. Very pertinent to have the daughter of Puerto Rican immigrants to sing” this land is your land…”

Have to say that for all the self-policing that goes on in this site, the unopposed acceptance of old men’s mysogyny is a bit cringeworthy to say the least. You wonder what daughters and grand daughters looking in must think of their auld fellas.

I guess old, white, sexist men continues to be the target demographic for the site….

  16. Rock Tree bhoy – where in the Calton ?

I have become quite fascinated with the area and the true Celtic connections and threads through time, mostly from stuff gleamed on here, and then Brendan Sweeneys book and the Celtic Graves society, if we ever get back out I really want to take the walfrid walking tour.

Who ever posted the Garngad story yesterday as well, that was a brilliant ten minute read and had me away searching things out.

Beats droning on and on about how bad things are and demanding they get fixed.

  19. I can’t remember the last time I watched a good game of football on an artificial surface. Even in better weather

I read that we’ve drawn twice and lost the other on our last 3 visits to Livingston. I doubt we we in such disarray going into those 3 matches. Nor was Livingston’s form as good as it is now. Add in the weather, and we’re in for a tough game tonight, imo.
