Celtic with points to prove

248

Back in the 80s, when Billy McNeill was in charge, you could relay in Celtic responding after a defeat by giving the next poor team to face them a pasting.  They played with urgency from the start, which they often only deployed in the closing minutes of games when they were chasing a winner.

Football then got a whole lot more methodical, especially since Martin O’Neill arrived and instilled a discipline unseen in my time watching Celtic.  Under O’Neill and Gordon Strachan, Celtic would open the next game on-plan, without giving the impression they had something to prove.  It might be different tonight.  Neil Lennon has made it clear that the 11 who take the field against St Johnstone have something to prove to him, as well as to the support.  I’m expecting a big result.

Blogging on the go today so not really got time to deal with Our Pal Charlie but I’ll catch up tomorrow.

My family still lived there during your time but I moved to England in `66 ( I am 65) and do not recognise those names. I do, however, remember every family from my time there so those you mentioned must have arrived later.

I went to Harry Hood`s 16th (or so) birthday party. In those days, most of us had one suit and after it had been paid off, we generally bought a new one. Harry appeared in no less than three suits during the party!!

Reading Phil’s article he gives a lot of credit to Spiers – maybe we underestimate the threat under which some journos are working.

    Difficult to tell

    —–

One thing I’ve always respected Spiers for was the fact that he has never denied he is a Sevconian, unlike Chick, Jabba and the likes. He has spoken openly of his love of the cold club as a boy.

And Spiers has in the past had a go at the various regimes famously falling out with Minty for several years.

However he is still a Hun at heart and his true colours and allegiances were shown last season when he defend the oldco at every turn and tried to spin the MSM message that it was just a few internet bampots at it.

His involvement in the nightly STV Tonight show I think demonstrated this best.

Once a hun, always a hun!

Doing good, winter is on the way, lots of rain, even had a hard frost yesterday morning, lit the wood stove today, 2nd time so far. but when it’s no raining it gets to decent temps during the day, mid 20s, so no too bad.

  12. he got done for disturbing the public (something must have got changed in translation)

sister wasnt allowed to see him until he appeared in court. has to go back in november unless he doesnt contest charge (catch 22) sister says the charge is crazy but consierge’ word against theirs.A bit like justice here in old NORN IRON suck it up,

But at least they are both back home safe

    HH

    .

  13. Perhaps its just me but im neither surprised nor shocked that the great unwashed chose to threaten bully or harrass certain individuals who dared to criticise THEIR club,

the suggestion from the NUJ is that 32 of their members have been in some way affected, the lack of public support from their colleagues and fellow journalists has been astonishing, this attempt at intimidation should be front page news, whether its tabloid or broadsheet, it is a blatant attack on the right to report,

the fact that no one, not one media outlet, written or broadcast has had the courage to publicly support their colleagues is appalling, the fact that not one of them has publicly decried the threats and intimidation speaks volumes,

whilst many of us will have little to do with the old media, whilst the majority will have our doubts in relation to their impartiality or agenda, this continued attack by the underclass insurgents on individuals doing their jobs (or in the case of the QC and others, assisting with due process) is one that should be roundly and publicly condemned,

    By us all.
