Celtic work remains below-radar

898

I like the below-radar way Celtic have operated this transfer window.  Mikael Lustig arrived early without much of a murmur and Rabiu Ibrahim’s trial and signing went through with casual understatement, while Jaroslaw Fojut completed a pre-contract agreement before many of us had even reached his Wikipedia page.

Most of the headlines surrounding Celtic have been in connection with English clubs wanting our players, closely followed by public declarations of ‘I’m going nowhere’ from the players in question.

Compare and contrast with the situation over the city.  Almost daily Nikica Jelavic has to deal with a completely different scenario his club have placed him in, today telling STV, “The manager appreciates me and likes me, but I know the club are in a difficult financial situation and if they decided they needed to sell me, I would accept it.”

If you bump into Nikica tell him he’s talking rubbish.  His club were recently bought by a billionaire, they have no financial difficulties and they are reliably informed they are going to win their tax case.  Rangers players telling the media that their club are in a “difficult financial situation” are miles off-message.

Im going myself this week! Possibly tomorrow after work if i can sneak away early ;-)

Waiting on Barca for a bet here…

  2. rangerstaxcase Question: if Jelavic cannot be sold, how will Whyte fill the hole in RFC finances? Maybe he has some cash under that radar of his.

  3. The vast majority of discussion about the result of the huns losing the big tax case, especially in the msm, is how to get them back into the spl if they go the newco route.

Well, if they go the newco route, it will be, to avoid paying the bill to HMRC.

A lot of psssh is spouted about the need for the huns in scottish football.

However, I would like to point out, that if the huns lose the FTT(T) and dont pay their bill of £36m (forgetting any penalties), then they have cheated the NHS out of £6.345m (given the NHS makes up just over 17.6% of the money spent through raised taxes), and that would pay for over ONE THOUSAND AND FIFTY premature baby ventilators.

Enough of this sympathy for mcoist!-just remember his cowardly cranking

it up in that game last season-the handshake and wee “word” which made

things a lot worse and his fat self feel a lot better pandering to the thugs-

hed spit on yer grave -no sympathy!HH

Yes agreed, never have sympathy for that fat w$$k.

    ST,

the £50m debt to Murray effectively went away as far as Rangers were concerned, it was made up largely of Murray underwriting the share issue. MIH carried it after Rangers were sold. The £6m debt was what Rangers FC actually held

“Rangers transfer deals descend into farce as Sir David Murray makes appearance at training ground”

What an insult to Whyte for Murray to be at any Rangers location in public, without him there as host. In fact, it is beyond “insult” and goes right into “Craig Whyte? Who’s he!?”.

And, what a statement from Gordon Smith about the Estonian awoller – “you’d better ask ally”.

A gang war has broken out at the brox and if jingle jangle jackson (chase-me-walter-chase-me) is putting that kind of headline into print, in the daily record!, then, in my opinion, we are getting very very close.

Ifs but and maybes to make the huns look good so their cheating doesn’t influence your train of thought, if they didn’t have the tax liability?? what planet are you on man..???

ah feck I go back to ignoring you scheisss I guess that’s what you live on!!!

    Battered Bunnet:

Read some of Sydney’s stuff and the Auldheid et al reaction.

I was thinking there’s a middle ground here.

We cannot say we haven’t signed decent strikers in 8 windows when we have signed (if I’m not mistaken) both Hoops and Stokes in that period; not world class I’ll grant you but both capable of 20+ SPL goals a season.

Equally, we should not take the huns’ demise for granted and ignore the need for a third striker capable of contributing to our title run-in.

The past has been full of underestimation while some scream for reckless speculation; we need the balanced investment you identify; spot on mate…

    Peter?

  10. Luvin their death by 1000 cuts strategy. By my reckoning they must have around 800 more to go.

Just before 2nd Barca goal Lassana Diarra had a shocking challenge whilst on a yellow. Ridiculous decision not to send him off. Justice was dine at free kick but hopefully more to come……,

  14. Batteredbunnet. Indeed I Agree with you 100%

I do not want us to go into massive debt , but!!!investment in a top striker buying one not a keane 6 month Carry on, would have given us substantial returns

Sonofdan if you think the scoring record if of our strike force us good enough , then you should check the official stats over last 2 seasons

Not good enough mate, last year Kenny miller was top Spl scorer and he left in January !!!! Not great was it sonofdan
