Celtic’s difficulty retaining possession

342

Celtic played well to a point yesterday. We dominated the opening period but Hearts steadied and worked their way into the game. The old adage proved true; when you’re on top, you need to score. Unfortunately we couldn’t make the early pressure count.

I think it was coincidental that our period of domination ended around the time Stuart Armstrong was taken off injured. Stuart was not having such an overarching impact on the game, and James Forrest was an able replacement.

The goals eventually came from midfield, leaving us to defend a lead for the last 20 minutes. There’s not much you can do about Hearts added-time equaliser, which soared into the top corner, but our play in the final 10 minutes of the game was inviting the sucker punch. We couldn’t retain possession, often clearing the ball long, which allowed Hearts to launch forward again.

I wasn’t too concerned about the equaliser but we we’re going to lose late goals if we cannot retain possession.

Watching the hun game I never thought

Hibs despite taking the lead believed they

could win it,I expect the hun will push on now,

you may not want them back but they’re coming.

Thank you 67 HEAVEN, perhaps I could have reasoned and explained it better but you know where I am coming from…. I think, thanks.

Again, thanks and by the way, I am perfectly serious in that I have no real interest anymore in this corrupt game of referee/official supported/influenced nonsense.

    Cheers.

  4. First time I have seen newco play this season.

Good side, from What I could see today. Strong and quick.

Hibs OK for a while, then overwhelmed and made elementary individual errors.

Dylan McEough looked a far better player than Liam Hendetson today.

Aye, no doubt about it, the devil’s spawn will be back in the top division next season ans the masonic movers and shakers who ‘run’ Scottish football will not rest until they are back in what they see as their rightful place

  10. My friends in Celtic,

Newcastle, Man Ure, Liverpool are all having relatively poor seasons with managerial difficulty.

Yet they still have a tremendous ratio of seats filled at every home game.

We do not. Why , is is too simplistic to say it’s Scottish football ? Or more worrying are their fans more faithful than ours ?

Hibs were never really in that game at any stage, even after they scored.

McGinn did nothing of note. Neither did Henderson, who still looks very raw and lacking in composure.

Mc.Geoch did some useful firefighting in the first half, but still has the tendency to run up blind alleys with the ball.

No service for the front two, although I don’t think Keatings would have known what to do with the ball.

Cummings looks a player, but lack of service caused him to drop deep in the hope of seeing what the ball looked like.

The Hun are a smarter looking outfit than last year’s version and move themselves and the ball around the pitch.

    They are also much fitter.

  12. IF Ronny was brought in to develop the weans he won’t be going anywhere any time soon.

IF the suits decide to bin him, and they carry on with the same policy, they need to look to Spain, Portugal for a new coach, these guys are well used to having players given to them.

Ronny wasn’t at his last club, a prob IMO.

No that I want him binned, I want him to be given players that he wants, and a proper spine for the team.

Saw a bit of the hun game, with selected referees they will do well enough next season.

  13. Hiddink,Van Gal, Ranieri, Pelligrini. The local guys no longer considered for the big jobs. Fergie the last of the greats.

  14. onenightinlisbon on

We should be worried re our lack of ambition. The years Sevco have spent in the wilderness should have been our time to pull completely out of sight. Unfortunately the custodians of our club yearn for the return of the “old firm” brand and will delight at the competition they will pose us next season. Good for the lining of their pockets.

Celtic’s leigh Griffiths watches on from the stands.SNS

Leigh Griffiths will miss Celtic’s final match of 2015 against Dundee, boss Ronny Deila has confirmed.

The striker, who recently signed a new five-year contract with the club, hasn’t featured since November 29.

Griffiths watched from the stands as the Scottish champions drew 2-2 with Hearts, a game which saw Stuart Armstrong and Dedryck Boyata pick up knocks.

Deila said: “Dedryck got a hamstring injury and Stuart has problems with his back so it will be very hard to get them ready for Wednesday.

“Leigh tested himself in Saturday and he wasn’t totally there. He is still he is getting stiffness in his calf when he starts running so it is still too early.

“He is very close, it could be Wednesday, it could be Saturday, it could be a week after but it is not a long-term injury.

“Kris got a knock in training, unfortunately it was a normal tackle but he got a bad hit and got a swollen ankle.

“We have to take a picture (scan) of it but we don’t think it is a very serious thing and hopefully he can be ready for Wednesday.

“Efe and Mikael went down as well but we got through it and we got a point. It was an okay performance and that is something we have to take with us. I am satisfied with a lot of things.”

  33. Celtic’s players urny fit enough.

    Celtic’s players live in a clique-dressing-room-comfort-zone….imho

Give Collins the keys to the dug – oot…let him walk into the dressing room, rip his shirt aff and ask the players…”Do you have the physique of a top class athlete…like me ?”

If, the answer is no ?…..Collins should say..”Then get yourselves out of my club!”

Get Collins in charge….get the players fit and, playing the way that a Celtic player of guid, decent stature like Collins did back in the day.

The Collins mantra would be – “Shape up or, ship out!”…what’s wrong wi that ?
