If right back, Aurelio Buta, completes his proposed move from Royal Antwerp, added to Carl Starflet and Christopher Jullien, who will return later this year, we have the beginnings of a stable defensive structure.
Not that Aurelio would be of any immediate benefit, as travelling here from Belgium would require him to isolate until after the first legs of the third qualifying rounds of the Champions and Europa Leagues. If we want a right back to play against PSV or Jablonec he has to already be in the UK. This is a dilemma.
I have zero expectations we will reach the Champions League group stage. PSV look too strong, with or without a new right back. A win tomorrow night will secure at least Europa League group stage qualification. Lose tomorrow, and overcoming Jablonec in the next round of the Europa becomes vitally important. The latter outcome makes a UK-based signing more likely, the former points to Buta getting the nod.

Listening to Dom M , he did say they are evaluating the entire structure of the club from 1st team, academy, signing process, revenue and media operations.
I suspect and hope – they have recognized a gaping hole in recruitment planning and recruitment execution. Ange has been politely vocal about it and now Desmond has had to get involved.
Frankly, the club is run like a cheap hotel on a prime tourist spot.

My heart sank when I looked at the mass of accumulated papers in my basement. But I got lucky. I found it. I don’t have a date, but it was sometime between 1981-83. Boy, it brought back memories! The article was written by Bill McDowall and was entitled “Wee Jinky still shines when on the ball.”
The Team name was Top Gear, made up of individuals involved in the renewal of the East End. I got the opposition wrong. It was the Glasgow Bar Association. They had ringers as well ( I knew 2 of them) and bitched loud and long to the ref about Jimmy. They ended up kicking him off the park with ligament trouble.
The wife is teleworking and I am banned from the home office, but I will scan it tonight and post it. (it is a xerox of the paper article, so it will be a little fuzzy).

I think a few have misunderstood what Paul is saying – a win tomorrow night buys time (Europa at a minimum), therefore we can buy players from overseas and and let them quarantine. If we lose tomorrow night the chances of any European football this season is greatly jeopardised playing with the current right back so it is imperative to have signed one who can actually play in the qualifier, therefore he has to be signed in the UK.
I understand all of this, but what gets me is the fact Frimpong and El Hamed were sold in January. Celtic have had more than 6 months to identify and recruit a right back.I should probably stop repeating myself, but something needs to be done so that a shambles like this can never recur.
