Celtic’s Europe-UK transfer dilemma

296

If right back, Aurelio Buta, completes his proposed move from Royal Antwerp, added to Carl Starflet and Christopher Jullien, who will return later this year, we have the beginnings of a stable defensive structure.

Not that Aurelio would be of any immediate benefit, as travelling here from Belgium would require him to isolate until after the first legs of the third qualifying rounds of the Champions and Europa Leagues.  If we want a right back to play against PSV or Jablonec he has to already be in the UK.  This is a dilemma.

I have zero expectations we will reach the Champions League group stage.  PSV look too strong, with or without a new right back.  A win tomorrow night will secure at least Europa League group stage qualification.  Lose tomorrow, and overcoming Jablonec in the next round of the Europa becomes vitally important.  The latter outcome makes a UK-based signing more likely, the former points to Buta getting the nod.

  1. Joe Hart has presence which we don’t have currently and is used to top level football. He is a risk but, if he gets his confidence back, he could be what we need for a season to buy us time to line up a successor.

Who from Celtic PLC signed the secret agreement ?

    ————————-

Aye but who was it that signed it ?

    —————————

Was Eric Riley one of the parties?

He e-mailed Lawwell with the document which had to be ok’d before it was accepted.

How do you feel about having a board that could betray and lie to it’s own fans and shareholders, which put’s the club they work for at a disadvantage?

    Are you happy with that?

  3. How many times must I repeat.

I am not happy , never have been, with the duplicity of the board.

Their inactions as much as their actions were deplorable.

The chance to call out forever the cheating and death of the original rangers will forever be a bugbear.

However, I cant explain what they did or why they did it.

And neither will i lose sleep over it, what is the point.

A certain calibre of player won’t come to Scotland unless we have guaranteed European football.

Then what do you think of the Lawwellites on here that want everyone on here to ignore the role their icon played in this, like it never happened, and instead want to have a go at posters on here who dare to bring it up?

The Lawwellites on here remind me so much of sevco fans who want everyone to pretend that what happened in 2012 was to be swept under the carpet and that anyone pointing out the truth of their clubs death was to be criticised.

It’s a carbon copy of the Lawwellites like turkeyboy

Uefa were never informed of the 5WA, and knowing what the document contained, all we had to do was inform them of the content of it and our concerns.

Our board were happy to sign off on it.

agree , at least some of us on here can call it as it is.

  16. No scrub that, I do have a comment.

I dont believe there is any such supporter faction as “The Lawwellites”.

Beyond the blog, when I discuss Celtic PLC (the business actions) with fellow supporters I dont hear anyone getting vocal about how great Peter is, how misunderstood Dermo is, and how statesman like Bankier is.

I do hear a lot of sack them all and its all their fault, and the decline (sic) started with the showers appointment, they are all masons and tories and it is jobs for the bhoys, and Kennedy is unsackable ……….

and well you know it already.

What I do see with comments on here is not support for the board members per se, but acceptance that the PLC structure means they behave well, as a PLC business should. Some are bored stiff with the negativity of others repeating ad nauseum the same sentences day after day after day.

The latest tactic is to say “you Lawwellites, you supported the old board in the 90s”, I mean what utter tosh.

An interesting thought . Nothing to stop a team putting 2 in goals and 9 outfield players .

Nah , on second thoughts , Barkas and Bain would just bump into each other and the ball would still end up in the net!

  18. The thing is though McKay is already “just a Lawwell clone”.

Go figure, he gets the same job role as successor , same responsibilities, same reporting line, he wont be making any big changes to operations any time soon.

Ange is also already in the grumbling firing line “picking the same team as Lennon, lazy eddie, wantaway ryan, its kennedys fault.

The full year accounts are due soon, that should be a bundle of laughs.
