If ever you needed a reason to convince you to ignore the vast majority of transfer speculation which inflicts football fans from May until 30 August, the signing of Miku Fedor is a gift. Spanish football is suffering from the kind of economic wake-up call which makes it possible for aspirational Scottish clubs (I know there’s only one) to sign strikers first choice strikers. Miku came through the scouting process last season and remained on the list but the deal had to be right.
25 goals in 85 games for a struggling team in the top league in the world (Exhibit A: Atletico) suggests we might have someone who will flourish on an acre of Glasgow and will bring experience and confidence onto the field when he faced Barcelona, Benfica and Spartak Moscow. The deal has the hallmarks of Peter Lawwell’s try-before-you-buy policy. Get them in on a loan with an option to buy. If they are successful, do the deal, if not, you’re not stuck with Ulrik Laursen breezing into training asking the other players how they got on at the weekend.
Right now the most important question is, what shape of team does Neil Lennon have in mind? Miku plays through the middle and on the right. He’s fast and he’s 6’1”. Have we bought a someone to play on the right of a front three? Perhaps, but with circa 15 first-choice midfield players to accommodate the plan is surely more complex.

One of the things that Neil has achieved, is getting shape in the midfield. We do that by having players close enough to each other….they can help a teammate in trouble…and a 10 yard pass is easier to make than a 40 harder.
In previous regimes, we played 2 wingers ww-aa-yyy out wide, leaving 2 midffielders chasing 5 guys from any one of 11 spl teams.
All of which to say, I hope Neil maintains our midfield shape, and doesn’t throw it away to accommodate too many strikers.

I note also the closing sentence below, which suggests that an additional striker will be signed soon, which presumably means it is a player who is currently a free agent. I suspect that this is a certain Michael Owen.
Owen has playedat the very highest level, representing Liverpool, Manchester United, Newcastle United and Real Madrid.
Domestically he has won the English Premier League, the FA Cup, the League Cup (3 times), and the Community Shield (twice). He has also won the UEFA Cup and the UEFA Super Cup, and he has represented England 89 times at senior level, scoring 40 goals. His goals to games ratio is just shy of 1:2 in both club and international football. He has also experienced “the thunder”, playing in both legs of the tie when Celtic eliminated Liverpool from the UEFA Cup on their way to the final in Seville in 2003.
I am sure he will want to experience the thunder again by actually putting the ball in the back of the net at Celtic Park, perhaps en route to filling the one notable gap in his trophy collection.
At 32 years of age he must still have a couple of seasons left in him.

Overall looks a typical good nights’ business in the market – we have no idea who we have signed but in Lenny and the scouts we now must have confidence and faith.

It will be interesting if we do bring in someone, previously not mentioned.
PL ans NL have payed this well abd thank God the club is in safe hands during these turbulent times.
We have never been better governed and that includes the earliest days of the club.
AKBW1888, the Templeton suggestion was more about further crushing any potential revival by Cheats & Thieves FC than adding any quality to the Celtic squad. I wouldn’t have wanted him anywhere near the first team. He is nowhere near good enough to displace any of the current first teamers in any case.
