CELTIC have agreed to play Cliftonville in George McMullan’s Testimonial Match on Monday, April 11.

Gerard Lawlor, the Irish club’s chairman, said: “We are thrilled that Celtic have agreed to travel to Belfast and help us celebrate George McMullan’s unparalleled contribution to our club.

“It is only fitting that one of the biggest football clubs in the world will be joining us as we pay tribute to his talent, dedication and successes.

Lawlor added: “The process of organising this match has been ongoing for quite some time now and, in recording my sincere thanks to both Peter Lawwell, Celtic’s Chief Executive, and Chris McCart for their dedication to ensuring that the fixture would take place.

“I’m sure I speak for everyone at Cliftonville when I say we’re all looking forward not only to Celtic’s visit. but also the opportunity to pay tribute to an outstanding captain, footballer and person come April 11.”

A Hoops spokesperson said: “We are delighted to accept this invitation to play in the match against Cliftonville. We are sure it will be a great occasion and we are very much looking forward to it.”
