CELTIC’S JULY DATE IN BASQUE COUNTRY

CELTIC will head for the Basque Country in Northern Spain in the summer as part of their pre-season preparations.
SD Eibar have revealed the four-in-a-row SPFL champions have agreed to provide the opposition as part of their 75th anniversary celebrations.
The Spanish outfit say a friendly match has been arranged at their Basque home on Saturday, 18th July.

Eibar made history a year ago by becoming one of the smallest teams to win promotion to the La Liga. Unfortunately, they were subsequently relegated.

The club say they want to make the Saturday “a day of celebration” for the whole town and that Hoops supporters will be made welcome.

Ronny Deila has insisted his team would not embark on any world tours in a bid to have his players as fresh as possible for the Champions League qualifiers.

A club statement said: “The game against Celtic becomes a gift to its fans and citizens of Eibar, as a way to thank them for their unconditional support to the club for the past 75 years.”

Incidentally is that someone in the Hoops in the photograph?
