CELTIC’S SUNDAY NIGHT HAMPDEN DATE

CELTIC will play Hearts in the Betfred League Cup semi-final at Hampden on Sunday, October 28 – only hours after Sevco Rangers take on Aberdeen in their last-four encounter.

The SPFL have confirmed the ties will take place at the national stadium on the SAME day.

The Hoops and the Ibrox side are both involved in Europa League games the previous Thursday with Brendan Rogers’ men in Germany for the clash against RB Leipzig while the Govan outfit are at home to Spartak Moscow.

In an unprecedented move, all four sides will feature in Glasgow with more 100,000 fans expected on the city’s southside.

Celtic’s meeting with the Edinburgh team will kick off at 7.45pm after the other tie which is due to start at noon.

Originally, the semi-finals were to be held on October 27 and 28, but that had to be vetoed because of the Glasgow clubs’ European commitments.

It was believed police authorities would be against staging both games on the same day and Murrayfield had also been forward as a venue for one of the ties on Sunday.

Celtic are looking for a hat-trick of triumphs in the tournament under the guidance of Brendan Rodgers who has seen his side beat Aberdeen 3-0 and Motherwell 2-0 in the last two Finals.
