CELTS IN FITNESS RACE

DAIZEN MAEDA is among a list of Celtic stars who face a race against the clock to be fit for the derby at Ibrox on Sunday.

The Hoops’ top scorer missed training at Lennoxtown today to spark fears he may sit out the final all-Glasgow encounter of the season.

Alistair Johnston and Nicolas Kuhn were also AWOL while Filipe Jota is already out – as CQN forecast at the weekend – after limping off with an injury to his right knee in the first-half of the title-clinching 5-0 win over Dundee United at Tannadice on Saturday.

AT THE DOUBLE…Adam Idah nets his second goal in Celtic’s 5-0 win at Tannadice as his low shot leaves Dundee United keeper Jack Walton helpless.

Brendan Rodgers will provide an update when he speaks to the media later today, but the injuries could open the door to the likes of Anthony Ralston, James Forrest, Yang Hyun-jun and Adam Idah who all started the match in Tayside on the substitute bench.

The Republic of Ireland international powerhouse replaced the Portuguese maverick against Jim Goodwin’s side and claimed a second-half double.

Idah is likely to lead the line if 33-goal marksman Maeda is sidelined for the match in Govan where the Hoops will have 2,000 fans to cheer them on, the first time visiting supporters have been allowed in the ground since January 2023.
