CELTIC double-act Yang Hyun-jun and Liam Scales could be on a World Cup collision course.

The in-form winger, scorer of a double in the champions’ 3-1 win over Motherwell at the weekend, has been recalled to the South Korean international squad after an absence of nine months.

Yang has claimed eight goals in the Hoops’ turbulent campaign and his form has been acknowledged by head coach Hong Myung-bo who has brought in the 23-year-old forward for the warm-up games against Ivory Coast in Milton Keynes a week on Saturday and Austria in Vienna three days later.

ON THE BALL…Liam Scales is hoping to lead the Republic of Ireland to the World Cup Finals in USA, Canada and Mexico in the summer.

South Korea, with the Celt hoping to be involved, are scheduled to play three games in soccer’s summer global tournament in Mexico against the hosts and South Africa.

They will kick off the competition on June 12 against the winners of the UEFA play-offs among the Republic of Ireland, with stand-in Celtic captain Scales a key man, Czech Republic, Denmark and North Macedonia.

Scales and Co are due to play the Czechs a week on Thursday in the first play-off.
