CELTS TO UP OFFER FOR STRIKER

CELTIC are pondering a second bid for striker Vakoun Issouf Bayo after his Slovakian club Dunajska Streda knocked back the initial offer, as CQN reported yesterday.

The Hoops are poised to up the ante to £2million for the 21-year-old frontman, but that could still be about £300,000 short of his side’s demands.

Ivory Coast international Bayo has claimed 18 goals in 23 appearances for the Slovakians this term and has attracted attention elsewhere.

The club’s sporting director, Jan Van Daele, has admitted they are willing to negotiate with the champions.

Brendan Rodgers has already stated the team need two new frontmen in this transfer window.

They remain in the hunt for a loan move for Paris Saint-Germain teenager Timothy Weah.
