Central def, Dempster, don’t mention the EBT

287

I could make the case that Kilmarnock were better against Celtic on Sunday than Hearts were, when the latter won 4-0 at Tynecastle last year. At Rugby Park, Celtic failed to retain possession to anything like an adequate level. The nuances of the pitch were known in advance, I don’t buy it as an excuse.

Players seemed over-anxious to get rid of the ball, most often by sending it forward to players who didn’t have the space necessary to retain possession. A large part of our conventional system relies on passing and movement from central defence. The early loss of Boyata, then Ajer, did Celtic more damage than the pitch.

You know that ominous feeling you get when media and many in the game are uniting behind a candidate for a top job, before the job is even advertised? Leeann Dempster might be the best administrator in Hibs’ and Motherwell’s recent history, but that is modest claim to fame. The job of CEO at the SFA should go through a conventional recruitment process.

As for BBC news this morning that the SFA are considering Walter Smith* as national team manager, a man who walked out on his contract halfway through a qualifying campaign for a club job! This tells you all you need to know about football in Scotland.

*and I didn’t even mention his EBT, because no one ever mentions “Walter’s” EBT, that would just embarrass the man.  It must be like a sketch of Monty Python whenever he walks into a room of journalists.  Would love to know what it was for……

I agree about equality however what should come into the equation is that Dempster supports the move on from the biggest cheating scandal to engulf our sport.

Why Celtic and Celtic supporters are not demanding an independent review to me is sickening as I refuse to support a corrupt sport that wishes to stay corrupt.

It breaks my heart after 30 years supporting home, away, overseas that I no longer get to see Celtic in the flesh, but as a shareholder the club have been way short in action.

So come on CSA let’s hear you, you have also been found wanting, start a independent inquiry campaign then I can put my spare time to supporting that cause.

  2. One governing body would be a step in the right direction for football administration, destroy the committee structure of the SFA and get professional unbiased people in, but in my opinion a full independent enquiry must take place into the conduct of football bodies in this country and how they have refused distorted and found unique ways not to do their jobs, it would seem under the table payments they knew nothing about is not in their eyes worthy of changing the awards of titles to the club that cheated even though it no longer exists. Shameful, why should anyone who has any inclination of doing what is right without fear or favour work for Scottish football without having restriction placed on them and the moving on agenda holding sway, that is the problem and will always be so as long as clubs and their boards adopt this stance.

No wonder the press are calling for people who would go along with this to be appointed to the SFA and the national team. They want nothing to change.

Zenit St Petersburg beat Stumbras FC 2:0 today with one own goal from Sadauskas and one from Parades.

  7. Hi Paul67,

Very, very pertinent point regarding SFA vacancies.

Who on earth gets to choose these people? Some misguided journalists, who failed to do their job and overseen a decade of fraud and incompetence in our National Sport?

Journalists who have shown no hunger to improve the game and no appetite to bring accountability to the failing administrators and institutions.

When Stewart Regan took up his position as CEO of the SFA he had huge tasks in front of him.

The SFA had recently commissioned a Major Report lead by Henry McLeish. The report was a damning indictment on the state of Scottish Football… concluding that the game in Scotland was “underachieving, under-performing and under-funded”.

Only months later the new CEO was appointed, Mr Regan, in almost eight years he did nothing to address these issues.

With the exception of Celtic we have seen Scottish Football Clubs go backwards in Europe. We are now at the point where our top teams, outwith the Champions, can’t overcome teams from Cyprus or even Luxembourg.

Our National Team is by far the worst performing Team of the Home Nations and fail time and again to perform in qualifying competitions.

The advancement of TV deals, Sponsorship deals and the sports Commercial development is non-existent.

The credibility of the Football Governing bodies to follow their rules and regulations and their match officials to properly officiate, is likewise non-existent.

Yet those whose only agenda through the Regan years was “Project- Strong Rangers” with no regard to doing their job as Sports Journalist are advocating who? They want the malaise to continue why?

Because “Scotland Needs a Storng Rangers” movement has been a half baked failure, it has put Scottish Football back another decade yet because “Rangers” aren’t the top of the tree we have to get more of the same.

    NO!!!

We need a change, the blueprint is their in England and Wales. England identified the underachievment of their young players at the same time Scotland did. They set up academies including a National one and are now competing with the best youth teams in the world… in fact winning the World Cup with England U21, while England U21 “B” are winning a Major European tournament last Summer.

Look at what the Belgians are doing…

It’s insane these so called Journalists are asking for more of the same. Well to the reasonable person it’s insane. If you understand their agenda; a myopic, insular, parochial, self indulgence it’s just idiotic.

Any advancement in Scottish Football has been done in spite of the Sport’s governors and propagandists.

We need to create MORE vacancies at the SFA and fill them with talented, modern, forward thinking individuals who can bring our game into the 21srt Century.

    Hail Hail

  8. Paul67 et al

Has anyone from Celtic ever even mentioned the 5 Way Agreement? No? Job done.

Regan out the door, Supreme Court decision ignored or dismissed. Job done.

Time to get back to the days of Real Rangers, and Women. First up a virtually unemployable Alex McLeish, next up a women who could not even get into the army because of poor eyesight, but poor eyesight, and poorer oversight is exactly what you need at the SFA. And last and by all means least Walter Smith a man who time, but not the taxman has forgotten. “Forever Changes”? Re-released in Scotland as Nothing Changes.

Anyway,we now have probably the longest period since the season started where the team can get together at Lennoxtown, take it a bit easier, avoiding any more injuries, with one game in 12 days.

    ————————

We’re at home to Partick on Saturday, then Zenit on the Thursday.

  11. Let’s not kid ourselves here, the people talking up the Hibs Hun have an agenda. They desperately want one of their own running things at Hampdump!

As the Guardian pointed out today the Masons haven’t gone away you know. Their malign influences every aspect of our society from the political to the economic to the judicial. All are skewed by having internal groups made of of members of a secret society working to promote each other and their cabal.

There should be no place in a open democratic society for such secretive groups.

Interestingly according to the Guardian’s figures there are about 120,000 masons in England and Wales. That means there should be roughly 12,000 in Scotland yet surprise, surprise the figure they quote is 30,000! Needless to say NI is even worse with 25,000 when it should be about 2,000.

Practically every major scandal in Britain has connections to the masons from child abuse to the banks.

The Hillsborough cover up was orchestrated through the masons in the police.

Thatcher was up to her neck in it as was her disgusting press secretary Ingham.

One of the questions that she always refused to answer was if she was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star?

One wonders how Ms Dempster might answer such a question?

If the game wants to flourish in Scotland the whole Hampdump infestation needs cleared.

The Hugh Dallas scandal showed exactly the institutional ethos of the place. It’s full of anti-catholic bile and bigotry.

The league and SFA were bad enough in days gone by but since they all moved to Hampdump they have become much worse as they are constantly feeding off each other’s twisted beliefs.

The talk of Wattie would be funny if it was not so pathetic. As Paul says a guy who ran out of the same job when his EBT friends called. He has been out of first class football for years, yet he is being considered?

Let’s see the famous the Tartan Army’s reaction?

  12. Scotland should just do the decent thing and withdraw from international football so that we can finally get on with supporting a glorious United Kingdom team.

    No? Ok…

  13. A question i have never understood. Why are England and Wales allowed to have separate associations when they have a unified league?

  14. Another thing I have never understood about International football is why countries that don’t operate a profession league (and I include my own country in that list) are allowed to compete in a professional game?

  15. SEÁNP1916

There is a distinct welsh league now- but teams like cardiff , swansea newport etc were founded before there was a welsh league

  16. What I don’t understand Gene is how this was allowed to happen. Surely the formation of a welsh league should have been added to the English structure as a regional/non-league like the conference south/north is…. or Cardiff/Swansea. Newport & Wrexham should have been made play in the welsh league.

  17. Afternoon all,

Not often that I post anywhere now though still scribble away and submit my thoughts for forensic review by my pigeon critics on the window sill. A sort of ‘Doos and don’ts’ committee!

However, sometimes something strikes me as both relevant, a touch outré and worth sharing.

Today while going through some High Intensity Interval Training (opening and closing the leg extension of my recliner in a controlled smooth operation while not spilling the glass of wine balanced on my lap) and simultaneously planning my week ahead by going through the BT Sport TV guide, I came across an idea to replace the medieval and defunct term ‘Old Firm’.

  21. Croppybhoy et al,

I have no love of the masons. I detest the influence they have had in our society and I have no doubt they still have limited influence.

The question i have is : Should we know of any affiliation public servants have. I think yes , and I include organisations like Opus Die, and the men only Catenians and KOSC.

Transparency is vital if confidence is to be achieved. In football and beyond.

Departments Government is where the Masonic infiltration, corruption and exploitation runs deep.

    It stands to reason.

I mean if you were a Masonic private business owner – there’s no way on earth are you going to employ half a dozen of your incompetent cronies simply because they are fellow Masons.

Your business would be bankrupt within the space of 6 weeks.

In government departments the incompetents can be sustained because other employees have to pick up the slack.

The SFA another organisation riddled with Masonic, the same thing applies – it isn’t a private venture and is mostly funded by the fans.

    F them all.

  25. On the same day that Ross County `s Chairman promotes the amalgamation og the SFA and the SPFL ie a matter concerning ALL football in Scotland, the BBC site headlines with this:

” Jason Holt hopes to take his first taste of defeat as Rangers(sic)captain in his stride and help his side return to winning ways against Partick Thistle.”

The Scottish Establishment sickens me as much as the corrupt Footballing `authorities` in this narrow-minded country.

  26. Can’t believe the smsm are calling for Smith and McLeish to manage Scotland. Besides their being found out when they were outside their comfort zone in Govan, they both have been recipients of the notoriously illegal EBTs.

At this rate, Scotland will just go further backwards.

A 20 year ST holder in Govan is hardly likely to clean the place up, imo.
