Central def, Dempster, don’t mention the EBT

287

I could make the case that Kilmarnock were better against Celtic on Sunday than Hearts were, when the latter won 4-0 at Tynecastle last year. At Rugby Park, Celtic failed to retain possession to anything like an adequate level. The nuances of the pitch were known in advance, I don’t buy it as an excuse.

Players seemed over-anxious to get rid of the ball, most often by sending it forward to players who didn’t have the space necessary to retain possession. A large part of our conventional system relies on passing and movement from central defence. The early loss of Boyata, then Ajer, did Celtic more damage than the pitch.

You know that ominous feeling you get when media and many in the game are uniting behind a candidate for a top job, before the job is even advertised? Leeann Dempster might be the best administrator in Hibs’ and Motherwell’s recent history, but that is modest claim to fame. The job of CEO at the SFA should go through a conventional recruitment process.

As for BBC news this morning that the SFA are considering Walter Smith* as national team manager, a man who walked out on his contract halfway through a qualifying campaign for a club job! This tells you all you need to know about football in Scotland.

*and I didn’t even mention his EBT, because no one ever mentions “Walter’s” EBT, that would just embarrass the man.  It must be like a sketch of Monty Python whenever he walks into a room of journalists.  Would love to know what it was for……

    I agree!

Celtic has no divine right to win football matches and to expect strikes me as quite 90’s hunnish and entitled. Celtic will lose games, Celtic will play badly on occasions and Celtic will be affected by injuries and player mentality these are all just facts.

If we lose to Zenit it will by no means be the end of the world. Zenit after all are a team more than capable of beating Celtic over 2 legs. It is I think right though that we can look at Celtic’s performance in these two games (irrespective of result) as a way of gauging any progress or lack of.

  3. Too many first team picks injured and one or two others struggling for form to use the Zenit game as a marker for any progress made.

Sometimes that’s how it goes. Hopefully as injuries clear and the better weather returns we will finish the season with optimism for the CL qualifiers in the summer.

I was unaware of the great Desmundo’s involvement in Daon.

The implementation of the biometric surveillance devices around the world is a worrying trend all right. It will have far reaching ramifications on society.

If it continues unabated ,that kind of technology will lead us to a future of obedience and conformity IMO .

  6. Walter Smith is a Dinosaur, when are we going to see the back of this guy permanently, if he’s given the Scotland job it tells you all you need to know about the Geriatrics running Scottish football, worse than that, Masonic Geriatrics. We need a big broom to sweep the lot of them out into the street and in to the nearest skip, If these guys are left in situ Scottish football is doomed for the foreseeable future.

In fairness,The Fab Four have the total support of the vast majority of us. And that has been made clear so often.

His comments frequently receive feedback,as they deserve. This one probably didn’t because,as he says,we have to wait for the Compliance Officer.

If he initiates a whitewash,I think you’ll see a great many more replies to similar comments.

  11. So ‘Walter’ had an EBT.

I haven’t seen his name on the lists of EBT recipients that fly about, including the BBC.

When did he receive this tax free wage from Rangers (IL)?

Was he their manager at the time or is this one in the same category as the Souness who was paid whilst managing an English premier league club the same season he was buying players from his ex club?

No time for Walters myth but I wouldn’t be repeating jj as a source.

    ……………..

I didn’t say whether I believed it was true or not. I only reported what JJ was saying as others do on here from time to time.
