After the delights of the League Cup Final, attention in Scottish football returns to league action this weekend, with the champions having a Sunday noon kick-off at Dundee United. This is the first time we have played United since January 2023, when goals from Jota and an Aaron Mooy penalty were enough to take the points back to Glasgow.
United are back to a more accustomed 4th placed in the Premiership table. They had an epic encounter of their own last weekend, losing 4-3 at Motherwell, in a match they dominated. It would be a mistake, however, to assume they are porous at the back.
Since a 2-2 draw on the opening game of the season, they have only lost more than one goal in five games this season across all competitions. Three of those games were against Motherwell. They manage to stop most opponents from creating too many good chances.
Aberdeen are on a five game losing streak which has seen their title aspirations replaced with hopes of a top three finish. They face Hibs tomorrow, no doubt still suffering PTSD from conceding two added-time equalisers at Easter Road a month ago. Jimmy Thelin is having his credentials examined.
After their second 3-3 victory over Celtic in 2024, Newco have spent the week reflecting on how improved they are. That was a perilous condition for them in April, we’ll see if have changed their internal narrative this time.

Good matchday morning all from the Garden of God.
These 12 noon kick offs and being in the pub at 11am is making me feel like a certain BRRB’s wee brother. Love you Johnnie Bhoy.
This will not be easy but get 3 points today then 2 home games before visiting huns and if we win all those we have another home game to celebrate another title in the bag, in my opinion.
My prediction as always away from home 3 – 1 to the Tic but any win will do.
Enjoy bhoys and ghirls.

Haven’t seen it but did hear Clement on shortbread in his pre match interview, not very subtly making it clear , at least in my view , that the refs owed them something.
Looks like they may have delivered.
Mornin.
A win and no injuries please.

COYBIG.
There is only one topic i would take from the hun game yesterday.
Their regular goalkeeper Butland injured himself during the warm up and Liam Kelly made his first team debut.
Last minute injuries to goalkeepers are not that unusual nowadays.
We really need to have a match ready and first team experienced deputy to Kasper in case of unforseen circumstances.
Viljami Sinisalo must be given some game time where possible.
HH.
Here’s my tuppence worth – we’ve hardly been at our scintillating best recently and I reckon the cup final vs thems was the distraction – and how joyous was that – and now that has been put to bed we can return to something approaching our best. Brendan is right, players are not robots and lifting the first trophy will have given everyone a lift. Well, let’s hope so.
Oh, and Happy Solstice to everyone from yesterday……Always a turning point.

Think he got a call from the maternity ward (Fosdick Ward?) – what a carry-on!!!

Agree 100% – however with Killie in the Scottish Cup, his debut may not come untill the title is secure – minD you Kasper has been sensational even in games where we have blitzed the opposition – sometimes a big save before we have put things to bed. HH
Here in Arbroath, less than twenty miles from Dundee, the wind is nowhere nearly as strong as forecast so hopefully conditions will be fine for the game.

Morning all from a wintry Argyll & Bute.
Looking forward to today’s game in the pub.
Must be a big pub TexasTim.
Ave Ave
TEXAS TIM….where in Argyll are you?
Cheers, Weeron in balmy -minus 28C here in Ottawa, getting ready for my 20 minute walk to the Ottawa CSC.
Good morning from a windy and bitterly cold North Staffs.
Hope the weather is a bit calmer in Dundee – keep the high balls low. 3 points is all that matters.
Today’s team is a huge surprise. Not sure it’s a great idea….

Team’s up
That back four…..
Yang?
No yanks or AJ on bench? Nairowcki?
CELTIC: Schmeichel, Ralston, Taylor, Welsh, Scales, McGregor, Hatate, McCowan, Yang, Kyogo, Maeda.
Subs: Sinisalo, Palma, Idah, Valle, Nawrocki, Engels, Bernardo, Bonnar, Donovan
If buthead was at the maternity ward, I hope they don’t pass the baby low to his left hand side.
He’ll never catch it.
I think any part of a defender can play you onside, whereas only a scoring part of an attacker can be offside.
No sign of CCV, Trusty, Kuhn…
Weeron
Looked offside to me,but the VAR lines.Just WTF are they supposed to prove?.A disgrace and that fud Colum should be taken to task on it.What is the point of VAR,if the most important part looks as if,as Bada said, looks like a kid playing with a Spirograph. When half the scum on FF say it was offside, that’s all you need to know.
Welsh, scales and Ralston in the back 4. We will have our work cut out today.
A worrying starting 11 today. Notably the defence. The last time we seen a back 4 like this was probably this time last year when CCV was struggling for fitness and we were dropping points regularly.
Any win today will do but I think we could be in trouble. That back 4, the weather and Dickinson as ref spells a perfect storm for us.
A bit of a risk with 5 changes all at once, especially with only one first choice defender against a team that scored 3 last week. I assume we have a few genuine injuries after being kicked off the park last week.
