Celtic rolled past Ross County in Glasgow in November, going 5-0 up after 40 minutes before easing off, but it took two late goals to turn the game in Dingwall the champions favour in October. We often see tight games there, while late winners have been a memorable feature.
County are the form side in the country. No team in the league have taken as many points as them since Christmas, despite the Highlanders playing three of their four games on the road. Wins at Kilmarnock, Aberdeen and Dundee, and a home draw to Hearts, have moved them out of relegation trouble for another season. For a contrast, Celtic have only won three games on the road since October. We can expect another ‘Defence v Attack’ battle tomorrow.
Brendan Rodgers has decisions to make on team selection. We had two days rest since the Dundee United game and there are two days between the visits to Ross County and Dundee, who we face on Tuesday. County have rested since last weekend and Dundee have no game this weekend, so both will be fresher when they face Celtic.
Players are human, even Callum McGregor. They cannot deliver at their peak every three days. A 15 point advantage at the top of the table allows Brendan to freshen the line-up, without taking any actual chances, while conserving resources for the three biggest games of the month, still to come.
Across the city……….. It’s fascinating. As always, it is the mistakes of the self-entitled ‘supporters’ which do the most damage. May they never stop. We should all watch and learn as much as we can from these episodes; self-entitlement comes in more colours than blue.

Missing the game as I’m flying home .

Thank you.
CELTIC40ME:
Some list that! Though in those days BR had to choose one which was put before him. Now he’s in at the very start of the process, por cierto.
A combination of weather, travel and lack of rest time has me lacking confidence in a good result tomorrow.
Nevertheless, I think we’ll win by two. ;-)
Play 4-4-2,Scales at LB with Taylor in front of him.Idah and Kyogo up front
Could also try Ralston RB with Johnston in front of him HH
Gentlemen, start your engines…….

I don’t think that’s entirely true. He didnt half bitch about having Shved forced on him, he wasn’t quite so grumpy about Musonda for example.
I doubt having him at the front of the process, if that’s what we’re looking at can improve the quality of the players on offer, unless he’s improved his scouting skills.
In his first winter window at Liverpool in 2013 he signed Sturridge and Coutunho. In the ten until last season he didn’t sign a single good player.
It really isn’t a good time for Brendan, we need to be mindful of that before we waste money and squad space in filler. Stick to what “we” do best
Before anyone gets sand in their parts about it, it was a comment on the Hanuary window, not a critique of anyone’s transfer record
Por Cierto
Indeed, he didn’t even appear to know we’d signed Shved during one interview and it led to his “ we’ve got millions of wingers “ quote.
Hopefully, he’s got more control now especially given he’s breaking some of Invincible records.
With three wide-men out, we could go 4-5-1 with a ‘super mid-field’ of : McCowan/McGregor/Hatate/Bernardo/Engles with Callum sitting and the other four taking it in turns to support either Adam, or, Kyogo. When in possession AJ & GT coming inside to fill-in. Might be interesting – but BR will probably go with Yang and start both Idah & Kyogo.
Wait and see – necessity is the mother of invention!!! Two scrappy 1 nil wins in Dingwall and Dundee will do me fine. HH
That award must moment when team sheet latest is…….Yang
In Brendan I (who is this we?) trust.
Could we argue we were weakened when Engels was hit by a coin? Also this has happened to our staff (and fans) previously.
Time for a statement Celtic.

Brendan’s Presser
Apart from a club which is run staggeringly well, well managed on the park and off, massive turnout at CP, introducing ultras to Scottish footie, championing female fans, a PLC leader whose success is unparalleled, a league leading recruitment model, a community who give their lives to the club….
is it weird to think that getting walloped at Ipokes has won us the league?
i see brendan and others in management making comment about the schedule and it had me thinking.
i am reading the most excellent celtic in the thirties part 1 and i am struck by how often players were called up for national teams and inter league international but league or cup fixtures are still being played at the same time.
this seasons league fixtures are interuppted by “national weeks”, unless it is a ruling why doesnt or league still schedule games, and then postpone them if players are called up ?
less popular, but with such large squads available, why not just play the fixtures anyway ?
also, if teams are not in europe, why not have mideweel games, at the same time as european fixtures are done ? example why couldnt a hearts v dundee game get played in september rather than january ?
and lastly, i notice the bundeliga still had a 2 week midwinter break, so why couldnt we ?
i just find this playing lots of games dec and january as a bit counter productive, worse weather, bad pitches, travelling, no wonder fans cant get to all the games, then the cost of christmas etc etc.
is it all to prioritise tv ?
caller to clyde last night mentioned it again, why have fans travel to dingwall or aberdeen when the fixtures could be localised at this time of year.
as a ps.
when mcgrory was turning out for scotland a pitiful few times, celtic were drawing or getting beat.
hearts was a bad example, i means hibs dearie me.
BOURNESOUPRECIPE @ 5:14 PM,
Good Presser again – going to be tuff up in Dingwell…
Glad Brendan reiterated the consistency of this Celtic team, fifteen points clear…
Record since October
Pld. W. D. L. GF. GA.
16. 12. 3. 1. 41. 9.
That includes a Cup Semi Final, a Cup final and three UCL games.
Phenomenal stuff – 👏 👏 👏
Glad we are seeing players rested as a precaution, the squad needs managed over this month.
Hail Hail
Too right SS – helluva schedule this winter
According to Mrs BRRB I need managing to get up the road from the Brazen. Damned impertinence.

wish i was somewhere to get sand in there.
the beaches of south lanarkshire arent up to much when its -5 🥶
Last season Celtic came from behind to win the title much as Brendan predicted. Going into 2025 Rangers were further behind than Celtic the previous year. But there’s no doubt that the Celtic team of 2 January were out-played and out-thought. The remarkable thing is Rangers’ total inability to capitalise on victory. We haven’t played particularly well but nor have we been poor. They’ve reverted to a form of kick and rush with inevitable results. It’s a funny old game.
thems blogs are really fnny tonight, who need comedy on tv.
keep it dignified and civil it says, it is the rangers way.
by keeping your concerns inhouse , while issuing a public statement asking for the boss to be sacked.
they really are hilarious.
what can we the fans do to try change the manager

Lets all throw Belgian Waffles onto the park before kickoff – cheaper than tennis balls and we are used to seeing a Belgian Waffle at Ibrox anyway
Ange bought Bernebei for his attacking threat, not his defending. He was very good going forward.I can see why we got more back for him than we paid.
Cphairbhoy
Yip, good stuff as ever from Brendan Rodgers.
Never much football up there, but despite the injuries we have squad options. Both BR’s spells have proved Dermot Desmond’s sound judgement, – speaking of judgement , see Rony Deila got his marching orders today.
Enjoy the match
HH
Bournesouprecipe
Whose sound judgement was WGS or indeed Ange would you say ?
Or were they not incredibly successful in your view in the first case domestically against a blatantly cheating and over spending rival and then in Europe. In the latter case against another overspending rival in building from scratch.

BOURNESOUPRECIPE @ 8:05 PM,
Yes, Dermot Desmond isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, for me he is a very smart cookie and we are lucky the Desmond family have a real interest in Celtic.
Shame about Ronny, like the man, like the roar… good coach but something seems lacking.
Wonder if there is any connection between the Kyogo story and RD going!?
Hail Hail

Can’t really argue about the season we are having so far
(although it is fun t have a gripe or 2)
————————-
In the league:
#1
56 points on the board
21 games played
– 18 wins
– 2 Drawn
– 1 lost
+50 Goal Difference
– 57 goals scored!!
– Only 7 conceded!!!!
————————-
League cup in the bag
————————-
Champions League
#21 out of 36
9 points on the board
6 Games Played
– 2 wins
– 3 drawn
– 1 lost
0 Goal Difference
– 10 goals scored
– 10 conceded
If we take a few goals out of our 7-1 loss the goal difference here is respectable (a gripe lol)
We need to finish 24th or above to go into the playoffs for the next round
————————-
I can’t remember a season as good as this
If we can qualify to the playoffs, keep our momentum in the league and take the scottish cup??
A season like no other

Interesting story about the home of the penalty kick.
I assume the penalty kick emigrated to its current home in Govan at the same time as the Belfast shipyard workers?

Aye that’s about right. Primrose Ure follow followed by Bill struth. A pair of criminal vermin.
