Champions League day is here!

Champions League day is here!!  Our season has never before started in a stadium in Reykjavik which holds less than 3,000 people but, on paper, it is the perfect venue.  Should Celtic qualify for the group stages, there will be greater challenges, and when they come, we will be grateful for these competitive games.

Cameras will focus on Ronny Deila before kick-off.  I am beside myself with anticipation to see how his team plays, but it will be a while before we get a true picture of that.  Tonight we’ll see Neil Lennon’s team, inspired by little more than encouragement from Ronny and John Collins.

A win and a clean sheet, please, Celtic.

‘Between 2001-2007, not 1 Strømsgodset player earned a youth cap for Norway. However, in just 5 years under Deila, the figure reached 179.

That stat just goes to show that Deila really does look to the youth system as an integral part in going forward, and we can look forward to seeing a lot of youth players given the chance to prove themselves while he is the manager of Celtic.’

    Much to agree with there.

I do disagree regarding Res 12, however. My own opinion is that there will be no outcome to this despite the diligence, sincerity and graft of those who got it on the agenda in the first place. None of us will know for sure but my gut feeling as soon as I’d heard that it wasn’t to be debated at the AGM was that Celtic had pulled a stroke.

    Time will tell I suppose.

  10. ACGR,

Those head shrinkers in Sarawak, at least in the Miiri area, are almost all Christian now. I had birthday greetings from a number of them the other day. One sent me photoes of her son’s wedding in St Joseph’s Cathedral.

As you say, great people. What the Federal Government is doing to those in the Baram is beyond criminal. They have raped the State of its oil and gas (and timber). Now they are going to flood the whole area to build a dam to produc electricity they don’t need.

I think I’m staying not far from there, thanks for the info.

  12. Whilst looking forward to RD getting his own team playing in his preferred 4-3-3 formation, I think tonight may be a bit more along the lines of NL’s starting formation and personnel with maybe one or two exceptions. If Lustig isn’t 100% then he shouldn’t be risked.

If we are successful in this round the next round is 2 weeks away ie. no midweek off.

If successful in the next round, there is a 2 week break before the play-off round.

    HT,

After my drunken ramblings the other night, I have been advised things are afoot and there is movement and hope, seems I jumped the gun, its just so goddamn slow I forget what we have actually got irons in the fire. I’ve asked for an update meeting and that will happen.

Parkheadcumsalford, most of the younger guys I worked with were Christian and were from the original Dayak tribes. They chose Christianity ahead of Islam because they wanted to still enjoy some of their older traditions, getting bevvied being one of them. I got very friendly with a guy who claimed his grandfather was the last person to have carried out the shrinking head deal on a Japanese soldier some time after the end of the war.

Had a few great trips into the interior, Mulu, the caves at Niah. Happy memories but as you say, the indigenous people are getting the shit end of the stick.

There is no criticism of you or any of the others involved I hope that came across in my post.

As I said my immediate feeling when I heard what had happened remains the same, there will be no resolution to this despite your efforts.

Hebcelt, not sure yet what the plans are. I’ll be travelling down (probably by bus) and heading home after the game.

I’ll catch up with in the new season.

P.S. I’ve still to drink that island sample you sent. I’ll check it out tonight.

  24. My memory has been playing tricks with me. I have obviously tricked myself into believing we played a largely untested team in WGS’ first game

Celtic: Marshall, Telfer, Varga, Balde, Camara, Zurawski (Maloney 60), Lennon, Petrov, Thompson (Aliadiere 66), Hartson, Sutton (McGeady 17).

In other news,Liam Fox turns down Foreign Office role offered by David Cameron.

If you think the Tories will lose the next election, put yer dough on him winning the leadership shortly afterwards.

I reckon he has gambled his political career on it. And I hope he’s right.

Because he’s unelectable as a PM.

Gaun yerself,Liam. Take the Tories down with you.

You will have my grateful thanks.
