Having the first leg of our Champions League qualifier against KR in Iceland instead of Scotland, as initially drawn, ticks boxes for both clubs. Without being disrespectful (well, maybe a bit), if the first leg was in Scotland KR could find themselves trying to sell a dead rubber second leg to TV companies. With their home tie starting level, this could be their biggest windfall of the season.
Despite KR’s lowly coefficient, Celtic are stepping into the unknown and would infinitely prefer the second leg at home, a week after competitive cobwebs are blown away. If we encounter a Karagandy-goat-sacrifice-type experience in Reykjavik, we would still have the chance to resolve things at Celtic Park Murrayfield. The only surprise is that it took the clubs this long to confirm the change.
Now all we need to worry about is the goat-sacrificing habits of Scotland’s rugby types.
News from Nyon that Celtic’s share of last season’s Champions League bounty was £14.1m, plus £1.8m for participating in the qualifying rounds, on top of ticket sales, reiterates how important the competition is to the club.

Guys the above is a link to a just giving site. This inspirational ghirl is raising money for both the NI Hospice in memory of Wee Oscar and for Samuels Children Charity in the name of a young girl age 6 she knows who is suffering from Leukemia.

Luis Suarez has now been banned for 34 games since 2010, despite not receiving a single red card.
FIFA statement said that Suarez would be banned from ‘all football related activity’ for 4 months.
They’ve now said he can be transferred this summer.
Surely a transfer from one club to another is ‘football related’.
Celtic’s efforts in Europe in the last two seasons have brought c£3m to the rest of Scottish football.
The reshuffle of prize money here two seasons ago is effectively a further direct contribution of c£2m, so far, from Celtic to the rest of Scottish football with many more millions to come.
The single biggest sponsor of Scottish football ought to be properly recognised by the beneficiaries.
With the enthusiastic backing of the other 41 clubs, SPFL chief Doncaster should announce Scottish football’s top league will from now be named, The Celtic Premiership.

Sensible thing would be to hold the appeal hearing before any game in which Suarez can play.

I have been to Belek and the hotels are great. It is also a big golfing area if you are into that.
I had a great time although mostly based in the hotel.
