Kairat arrive in Glasgow today after a disruptive trip across the globe. Unlike Celtic when they travel in the opposite direction next week, Kairat cannot keep to their usual body clock routine. It will be midnight in Almaty when tomorrow’s game kicks off – 2am by fulltime. For professional athletes, that’s a challenge.
There are seven Champions League playoff ties this week: five in the champions section, two non-champions. I watched Bodo/Glimt eliminate Lazio from the Europa League quarterfinal in April. Ange Postecoglou (eventually) got the better of them in the semifinal, but I expect them to make the cut against Sturm Graz.
Benfica are likely to progress against Fenerbahce, while I fancy Copenhagen against Basel. Red Star should have enough to overcome Cypriots Pafos. Ferencvaros are not the side they were five years ago, they could fall to Qarabag. As for Brugge? They have traded big this summer, spent €36m and sold €82m of talent. That’s a lot of change to pull together for their trip to Ibrox tonight. The Belgians should still edge it.
With what I am assuming is mischievous ‘paper talk going round, a friend suggested if we are looking for an older striker, it’s a pity Gerd Muller passed away a few years ago. Otherwise, he would have been ideal.

ONE of my Favourite Bets on Celtic over many years has been ” MULTI SCORER”, with a Celtic Player is selected to Score AT LEAST TWO GOALS in any given game ?
Sadly, I just can NOT Select ANY Celtic player to Score at least TWO Goals Tonight as we are so weak up front.
Both IDAH and/or KENNY do NOT Inspire ” Confidence” in the Goal Scorer department at Celtic….which is sad indication of ” WHERE ” Celtic are at the moment.
I think I will be giving the ” MULTI Goal Scorer” Bet a MISS this evening ?
I hope Celtic prove me wrong Tonight >
HH.
The wee shites have poisoned us again, so I’ve been up early. FF is hilarious, everyone is getting it 🤣. Manager, players and recruitment.
They must be bitter.
The most recent bunch of £25m superstars are turning out to be shite. Who could have forecasted that?
As usual though there are still the weirdos who think Brugge are shite, Celtic are shite and they will soon be back……..
No need for anyone at Celtic Park to go to the bank this week, sleep well our beloved bank book.
Well done big Jimmy take the bookies money.
Seven minutes!! That must be a record even for the peepul.
I didn’t see the huns last night but I was getting updates via WhatsApp. I was told that the wee shite McCann said that a 3:1 win was a precarious result for Brugge. Imagine how precarious it is for the huns 🤭
BIG JIMMY
I’d say Maeda is always worth a punt for a 2 goal contribution.
Good morning all.
Gerrintaethum Celtic!!!!

Aye you may be right ?
I will have a wee look at the odds on DAIZEN Scoring at least TWO Goals IF he can re capture his Goal Scoring Form from last season ?
HH Mate.

As daft as the often quoted, “2-0 is a dangerous scoreline (for the winning team)”🤔. Only saw it once but I thought the hubs 2nd was ok. Then again I maybe don’t know the rules. Years ago I thought the keeper had to have two hands on the ball and it had to be off the deck, I think. Refs in Scotland would have given it, of course
Good morning CQN.
Game day.
Why we are all Celtic fans.
Can’t wait.
Bring it on.
From the follow followers ,
Just seen a tweet saying the Union Bears are like the orchestra that kept playing as the Titanic was sinking and I have to say its killed me laughing. At least I’ve found a bit of joy tonight.
==
I would bite the hand off any team that offers 15m. Igamane is very talented but hugely immature and selfish in how he plays. That stupid attempt at a trick when he came on sums him up, he makes decisions that don’t benefit the team, just benefit his YouTube reel. ‘Main character syndrome’ I believe the youth call it.
===
We deserve all we get, we can’t defend and the tie is over. Brugge turned it down a notch second half and let us have a go and we didnt do enough to get back in the tie.
Its the worst defending I have seen and its just as bad as watching Martin himself at centre back.
===
Just awful. I was nearly in The Louden with 30 minutes gone.

Aasgaard’s hair is a war crime.
__
He needs to play like Ronaldinho to get away with hair like that but so far he needs a barber!
=====
A frenchmen reffing a predominately french speaking country too.
The mind boggles
Conspiracy theory at play i know but rangers seem hard done by far too often
60% of Belgians speak Flemish. Stupid, stupid huns.
Brugge in particular is just about 100% flemish/Dutch.

I felt sorry for Brendan. He’s a manager trying desperately to bring us in and he gets handed a 250K rookie as a back up left back.
At this point in time, I think BR would be well within his rights to re-direct all transfer related questions to the CEO.
Well here we are, as forecasted we are weaker than last season as we play probably the most important matches of the early season.
We have no back ups for left back, Callum, right wing, left wing and a very uninspiring centre forward. I used to think it was a lack of ambition now it appears to be a deliberate attempt to force the manager out of the club.
I’m enjoying the huns pain this morning, I can only hope that we are not being laughed at tomorrow.
Imagine the scenario, 60m gone tonight still drawing or with a narrow lead. Jamesie and Kieran are taken off. It doesn’t fill me with confidence.

` Always Look on the Bright Side` is probably not in your record collection :-).
It must take yo a long time to cross the road !
I’m not surprised at those responses. Blind faith is definitely the default mode for some.
timmy7_noted on 20th August 2025 9:58 am
My comment was light-hearted.
Also, there is ground between Blind Faith and Anxious Negativity.
Cheerio for now.
Just watched another chunk of the Brendan presser.
Its actually unfortunate you dont get to see who the two guys are asking intelligent questions among all the other dross and drivel.
c.12 minutes in, guy asks a good question about stability compared to other qualification campaigns Brendan has navigated.
I liked his responses.
“This is the most stable we’ve been”
And, in response to … Are you confident you have what you need to progress?
“Yes”
won’t come cheap. Stengs has a decent record in the Dutch top flight and European football, but Celtic are in a position to spend. There’s cash in the bank, and the club have brought in a decent chunk of change this summer through outgoings.
One of the blogs reporting on the Calvin Stengs deal.BEEP BEEP BEEP,RED LIGHTS FLASHING,KLAXONS SOUNDING,BEEP BEEP BEEP.
Seems some just don’t get it.
BTB,
Keep trying,you are fooling no one but yourself.If you think BR is happy with no additions to his squad,you are deluded.Of course,if God forbid,we had a disaster tonight,you will blame the manager.
Celtic 6 -0 ☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️
Timmy 7,
Wasting your time.Sure as fate,if we get a bad result tonight,the usual suspects will blame Brendan.
” A French referee,reffing a mostly French speaking nation.Belgium.Conspiracy.”
Ah,mange tout,mon ami,mange tout.
Turkeybhoy, I’m under no illusions about who will get the blame if it all goes tits up tonight. The constant nonsense about the relative strength of the squad this year to last and the relative power of Celtic to our opponents is designed to make any discussion of a bad result unthinkable.
Its a slam dunk don’t ya know. This team are rubbish. Plus of course we have four left backs available to the first team 🤔
Is there anyone out there who is willing to state that we haven’t regressed? I’d love to know the reasoning.
Of course if we do get a result tonight with a weakened squad then the manager deserves all the credit.

And, in response to … Are you confident you have what you need to progress?
“Yes”
—-
Was saying ‘No’ an option ? 😂
I’m not sure how the journalist expected him to say anything else on the eve of the match.
Georgi Kinklazde and Emile Heskey just spotted at Glasgow airport sharing a taxi to Celtic Park
Here we go!!!!
DD is on the phone to Shane Duffy and James McCarthy.
An Dun – cheers.
Clearly “No” was not an option. Understood.
What was an option other than “Yes”.
Sone of the standard equivocation managers deploy routinely.
E.g.
“Well, (pause, breath, sigh)
… these are tough games.
Everyone knows these are tough games.
There’s always pressure in them … but we’ve prepared well and are reasonably confident we can play well and give a good account of ourselves.
… if we do that?
(Strong, Aussie style inflexion on ‘that’)
We have a good chance of progressing”
Wasn’t just what we he said but how he said it.
Firm, decisive “Yes” … then silence.
BACK TO BASICS – GLASS HALF FULL on 20TH AUGUST 2025 11:14 AM
I think our players are smart enough to know when their manager is refusing to answer a question.
He could not have answered the question posed in any other way imo.
more from the loyal brigade …

Martin happy to win the second half.
Guy just doesn’t get it.
I know Gerrard isn’t coming back but the one thing he had us was ‘brutal, focussed and aggresive’. The single thing we as Rangers supporters expect as the bare minimum… ( that’s three things dumbo )
===
Precursor to change is pain”
David Brent would be proud of that.
===
Fed up seeing that imposter Martin cutting about dressed like an antiques dealer on match day, not being shirt, tie and suit is a slap in the face to the greats before him.
___
FFS who gives a toss what he’s dressed like, he’s not in the White House wi Trump and JD Vance.
( shades of Brendans tie )
===
He has learnt new words, anxiety and anxious.
That’s pretty much what he installs in every rangers fan.
—
He needs to learn words like “get your tits up that hill” first thing tomorrow at Gullane just like big Jock after that shambles.
===
I disagree. Butlands erratic position play is due to the manager telling him to be 10 yards outside the box.
____
No keeper is picking up a ball 30+ yards from his goal in the first 90seconds of any game ( your right Sammy , cause that would be a free kick 😁)
Do you love your wife ?
Brendan got the football equivalent of this question when he was asked if he had confidence in his current squad to get through the play off tie.
Anyone fortunate enough to have a good lady, will be well aware of the fact that there is only one answer to that question.
And you better answer it quickly.
Huns next four games are:
1. Away to St Mirren
2. Away to Brugge
3. Home to Celtc
4. Home to Hearts
I predict they will be top of the league, into the CL proper and Martin named manager of the month.
Rather strangely, they don’t see it that way over on FF. A load of doom merchants. Talking of sackings and rebuilds . . .
Denial, they’re all bitter and jealous.
No l was required.
Bloody L 😁😁😉
