Uefa Champions League financial distribution changes significantly this season from the previous model, in line with changes to the tournament itself. The old TV Pool no longer exists, replaced by a Value Distribution payment, which is majority based on the value of your TV market, with a factor determined by how well you have performed in the previous 10 years compared to other participants.
Celtic’s European performance over the last decade has not been great, but this year’s Champions League has so much fresh blood that we are now guaranteed to be in Pot 3. Aston Villa, Bologna, Girona, Stade Brestois and Stuttgart have replated more familiar names from the Big Five leagues. Our distribution will therefore be higher than it would if Chelsea, Roma and Lyon etc. qualified.
I know you would have been as upset as the TV panel at last night’s result from Hampden, but there are reasons to cheer up. Celtic being Scotland’s only Champions League participant, instead of sharing the Value Distribution pot, is likely to earn us an extra £4m.
Also, do not underestimate the value of our Coefficient Monkeys being in the Europa League, where they consistently earn Scotland a high number of points, compared to their only venture in the Champions League, where they were the group stage’s worst ever entrant. So every cloud….
The night was not so good for everyone in Scottish football. The Kyiv result cost Newco a play-off round bonus and a home gate, which together would earn £5m. That’s a lot of money for a club with dreams of one day returning home. The season is already taking on a familiar look.

Supposedly that new centre half of theirs took a unilateral decision to go play up-top with Drossers after they went one down.
Sounds like they’ve signed a Propper fanny 😂
Celtic Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Adam Idah on a five-year-deal from Norwich City, subject to international clearance.
The 23-year-old Irish internationalist striker enjoyed a successful loan spell at Paradise last season, playing a pivotal role in securing a historic league and Scottish Cup Double for the Celts.
He made 19 appearances for the club after joining on loan in January last season, and scored nine goals, including a last-gasp winner in the Scottish Cup final in the Glasgow derby to clinch the double.
Speaking exclusively to Celtic TV after making his much-anticipated move to the Scottish champions, Adam Idah said: “I think everyone knew where I wanted to be. It’s amazing for me and I’m delighted to be back.
‘Within the first couple of days of being here when I came on loan first time, I wanted to play for Celtic.’
“It was amazing to get all of those goals and to be in with the boys and to see these amazing fans week in, week out was unbelievable.
“I’ve never experienced anything like it and I’m just so happy to be back.
“I always wanted to play for Celtic and obviously last season was amazing. To come here now and be fully a part of the team and a part of this club is amazing to me.
“Everyone back home, all my family and friends, they all wanted me to come back to Celtic, myself included, so it’s massive and I’m just so happy to be here.”
Celtic manager, Brendan Rodgers said: “We are delighted to welcome Adam back to Celtic on a permanent basis and we are so pleased that he has agreed this new five-year contract with the club.
“The club has done brilliantly to secure this long-term deal. We are investing in a player of real quality who will be crucial for us over the next few years.
“He is a player who already has given us so much, performing fantastically for us on loan and really delivering for the club and our fans last season.
‘He played a pivotal role in our success last year and I know he can be hugely important for us again.’
“Adam has fantastic attributes and he is a dynamic, hungry, committed player who can make a real difference.
“Really importantly, Adam feels at home at Celtic, he has a love and passion for the club and I know he will be giving everything to once again bring our fans success.”
Welcome To Celtic Adam…

Do we begin angsting about other positions now or wait till after the LC tie on Sunday to see if we finally fulfil the predictions? What’s the party line?

Welcome Adam Idah, hunskelper!
SFTB- Not sure if there was a bit of bait there, but here we go…..the Board like to tell us we are a stand alone Club, ideal time to prove it is now,I and a few others want us to try and build a better team for Europe, CL is getting tougher every year ,EL is our level, the huns got to the final a couple of years ago, (answers on a postcode for that one),if we aim higher than domestic football, the SPFL should take care of itself. We are going to get stretched again this year, and I think we still need another 4 or 5 in,we could possibly rest a few after CL games, we have the money, but do we have the ambition? And for the parsimonious, I am not saying get 5 x £12million players in,we could comfortably spend another £25-30 million, we made another £4-5 million last night, without kicking a ball.
Welcome home Adam

We can bring as many players in as we like.
But…..
If we have a manager who only knows one script then when that script has been mitigated against since SCSF last April were Aberdeen set out to make Celtic look ordinary by marking both MOR and RH out of the game and easily reining in our wingers to a large degree, then something has to give.
Either use the wingers properly like recently in USA.
Or, MOR and RH, and plenty of others will be easily contained and made to look like run of the mill SPL players, meaning hardly any clubs offering to take these 2 players to better all round leagues…then we have unhappy players about the place like when BR broke promises to 3 players about moves to better leagues, Dembele, Ntcham, and, Bhoyata, throwing toys out of the pram, but we play in a one horse league so we got away with these negative energies about the place, and we’ll get away with it now, so long as we don’t find all our opponents ‘parking the bus’ against us then we’d be in real trouble.
Martindale stopped ‘parking the bus’ and got Livingston relegated.
Stevie Clarke ‘parked the bus’ and got Killie to 3rd in the league.
McInnes ‘parked the bus’ once against us and put us out of the League Cup.

Not sure why, but that reminded me of the racism episode of Father Ted when the guy asks Ted “what’s the official line the church is taking on the old racism?”
😂😂😂
ordinary Joe- thanks for reply, I think we are playing quicker, smarter football than last season, BR didn’t deny anyone a move,Lawwell didn’t get replacements in,as these guys were promised moves.Fulham offered £10 million for Boyata, wasn’t accepted, he walked out 18 months later for free, sacking stuff to let us lose that amount of money, due to negligence on getting another CB in to replace him.
