Uefa Champions League financial distribution changes significantly this season from the previous model, in line with changes to the tournament itself. The old TV Pool no longer exists, replaced by a Value Distribution payment, which is majority based on the value of your TV market, with a factor determined by how well you have performed in the previous 10 years compared to other participants.
Celtic’s European performance over the last decade has not been great, but this year’s Champions League has so much fresh blood that we are now guaranteed to be in Pot 3. Aston Villa, Bologna, Girona, Stade Brestois and Stuttgart have replated more familiar names from the Big Five leagues. Our distribution will therefore be higher than it would if Chelsea, Roma and Lyon etc. qualified.
I know you would have been as upset as the TV panel at last night’s result from Hampden, but there are reasons to cheer up. Celtic being Scotland’s only Champions League participant, instead of sharing the Value Distribution pot, is likely to earn us an extra £4m.
Also, do not underestimate the value of our Coefficient Monkeys being in the Europa League, where they consistently earn Scotland a high number of points, compared to their only venture in the Champions League, where they were the group stage’s worst ever entrant. So every cloud….
The night was not so good for everyone in Scottish football. The Kyiv result cost Newco a play-off round bonus and a home gate, which together would earn £5m. That’s a lot of money for a club with dreams of one day returning home. The season is already taking on a familiar look.

I have been told that there’s always an agenda with these sort of things😀

I don’t do the twitter account thingy … so am going to use this platform to politely ask our good friend Lint not to interrupt the enemy while he is making a mistake.
Aberdeen FC haven’t approached me to draft their submission to the transfer tribunal of course … but if they had, it would look something like this.
“Well keep this short. You know Connor’s development history by now.
Last year, fans and pundits almost unanimously agreed Aberdeen’s two best players were Connor Barron and Bojan Miovski … in that order.
We’ve just sold Bojan for £7m.
In just a few weeks, Connor has become R2ngers best midfielder by a distance, easily eclipsing the £5m Diomande.
Aberdeen FC is not insensitive to R2ngers financial situation and is also a pragmatic club.
In the spirit of cooperation we recognise it would be unrealistic to set the fee for Connor at the same £7m level we just sold Bojan for.
We’ll settle for half that amount”
Chairbhoy – what’s the Fabian Schar angle?
yet again

So who should we sign then ?
You put this question up every Transfer Window and never reply to anyone, first answer is,we should have a proper Scouting plan in progress ,to get players in and squad succession.
2nd Answer- O Shea,Tessmann,Beck,McCowan Miller,Porteous,Engels,Endo a possibility, I dont like loans without a fee to buy, there’s thousands of others out there but I would prioritise, a LB,CB 2 MFs,And another striker

Whoops.
Looks like Man City are in need of an HGP quickly.
They might bid £32m for Matt just to get the deal done quickly.
BACK TO BASICS – GLASS HALF FULL @ 9:37 PM,
Historical, we were in to sign him in June 2018
Hail Hail
B78- if you don’t think there’s an upgrade on Taylor out there, your low bar doesn’t surprise me, the boy is a good SPFL player, but found out in Europe, I would sign another LB and give GT a new contract
Who are these players ?
If you reckon there are upgrades on Taylor et al then please show us who ?

for fk sake.

I’d sign the players from BR list, you know the ones he had the long chat with Michael and Chris about recently👍
Bada
Heard that on sportsound earlier and thought SURELY NO.
please let it be true.
Sevco… the gift that keeps giving.
Cheers Chairbhoy.
If I remember correctly it was a straight choice between us and a £60k per week five year contract at Newcastle.
Can’t fathom why he choose them.
At the time, I remember thinking wage inflation couldn’t get any sillier.
I’ve had that thought maybe five more times since.
Bang average defender, decent right foot shot.
Am glad we missed out.

………….
I think they’re referring to their transfer policy 😂
BOURNESOUPRECIPE @ 9:55 PM,
Yes, if the worst comes to the worst, we can always look at Brendan Rodgers targets…
Hail Hail
GM- I seen Porteous link the other day,a bit rash as we know, possibly be coached out of him?
Credit where it’s due … some on R2ngers cyberspace also have a way with words.
Just came across the funniest one I’ve seen in the last 25 hours …..
“Where’s the toaster? .. I’m away for a bath”

Conway to Middlesbrough £4.5 million, available for a cross border fee of about 500k

Thanks for your suggestions. More than many provide.
I have tried 3 times to type my reply but the thing keeps refreshing and I haven’t start again.
I have thoughts re all you mentioned. I will try to post in morning.
Chairboy
Brendan’s track record at signing players is perhaps not the best.
Hopefully he gets more right this time.
Good to see Celtic as predicted calling the shots in the away supporter tickets allocation. 👍
Bada Bing
Beck not an upgrade on Taylor but some development potential.
Had a few decent months for Dundee.
Macowan not an upgrade on Iwata or Bernardo imo possibly not even holm but he was ill last season so not sure. Macowan def has development potential though agree.
Burnley lad agent or handler would never allow him to come to Scotland if Brentford are interested. No chsnce.
Not sure if you are serious re Porteous ?
Good grief Porteous…… nooooooo
Brentford deal might be off.Think FFP might be inhibiting a few EPL clubs.
When was GT found out in Europe? Was it playing against great players, with great teams?.If so,he can join a long line of players, including,Calmac,Broony, CCV,Ajer, list is endless.
Still no answers on all the goals we have lost at that back post.Great wee player, gives everything, never hides, has adapted to playing inside superbly.BR,twice,Ange rate him.I will stick with them.
Burnley,
BR wants him.If the boy wanted to come, what’s that got to do with his agent?

I seen Porteous link the other day,a bit rash as we know, possibly be coached out of him?
So Brian McClair, that well known world class doyen on football transfers suggested Celtic might do well to sign Ryan Porteous from Watford and all of a sudden he’s being mentioned in transfer speculation and “linked” to Celtic.
After the window closes it will be — Why didn’t we sign Porteous when we had the chance?
If you insist on feeding off Newsnow, at least try and be selective.
BACK TO BASICS – GLASS HALF FULL @ 10:03 PM,
Well I think Fabian Schar would have done a job for us then.
His Spanish club had just been demoted and he had a 4 mn release clause.
We sold Sviatchenko who was out on loan anyway, Boyata had refused to sign an extension to his contract before the World Cup so it was thought that he was off, so we needed a CH.
We didn’t get one, so Boyata stayed run down his contract and went for free.
Schar was on nowhere near 60k pw, and Newcastle got him well over a month later.
That decision cost us imo, as so many that window.
Still hopefully lessons learned, we still have a couple of weeks to make this window a success.
BURNLEY78 @ 10:59 PM,
The idea that Brendan Rodgers can’t spot a player is a myth.
However you must get real when assessing who he did bring in, who he wanted to bring in and the “prospects” that appeared.
For example, recruits Brendan Rodgers Mk1
Scott Sinclair – BR hit, Gamboa BR miss, Ajer – Delia hit
Shved, Arzani, Mulumbu etc etc not BR choices
It’s like the Lennon, McCartney songs, both got credited for writing them all but it doesn’t take a genius to work out which ones were Lennon’s and which ones McCarthney’s.
If you want to play games and highlight a lack of knowledge you can hang a lot of duff players on BR, that he had little to do with and conveniently forget the players he wanted to recruit but never came.
Even now, there are those who want to pin our last summer signings on Brendan, when we know fine well that there was a recruitment team for that and the work had by and large been done before BR arrived.
Also we had a very strict model imposed from above regarding player criteria and candidate selection that meant the recruitment teams’ hands were tied and they couldn’t put forward “experienced” players the Manager wanted, it wasn’t a good window and that was not down to Brendan Rodgers no matter what the agenda merchants will try to tell you.
Of course it meant a very different approach in January and all candidate recruits were rejected by the Manager and staff with the exception of Kuhn – the manager then had to bypass the strategy and went “off piste” for Adam Idah, arguably saving our season.
It seems things very different this window and it certainly has stuttered along but the “spooky” signing of Kasper Schmeichel, going back “off piste” for Adam and paying top do$$ar suggests a different approach and I’d suggest if the Manager’s targets are secured we will be back to a winning recruitment campaign like we were when Ange first arrived.
These top managers do know a thing or two about players you know;)
Hail Hail
