Champions!

1808

Congratulations to Ronny Deila, his players and supporting cast on becoming Scottish champions, season 2014-15.  The man from Norway has got his team playing flowing, attractive, football, he has improved players throughout the squad, and should be delighted with the shape of the club at the moment.

Congratulations too to the Celtic fans, who recognised the manager and team needed their support, which has been delivered solidly throughout the campaign.

I’m delighted for Aberdeen, who have matched Celtic toe-to-toe against the rest of the league.  It has been a stunning season for a team with comparatively meagre resources.  Motherwell were best of the rest for the last two seasons, but they were miles off the pace, and never reached the consistency of Aberdeen this season.

It’s four in a row for the third time in our history, matching Willie Maley’s team’s achievement in 1908 and Jock’s in 1969.

These are great times to be a Celtic fan, enjoy being champions!

I disagree with you wholeheartedly the player of the year was our captain Scott Brown, he has been magnificent

Highest scoring game in the league – shortest highlights – sportscene #whyshouldIbesurprised

By the way Stefan Johansen has a magic season but only because of Scott Briwn & Nir Biron doing the hard work, scoring goals is easy just ask Me McConville as he done the Scort Brown job and I scored all the goals

Let me qualify my post mate. I do not disagree with you but Scott was not on the short list. The point I was making was that of those nominated we should and deserved the treble of awards.

In fact I would disagree with Stefan getting the award, in my opinion over the piece, VVD has had a better season.

    Keep the Faith!

    Hail Hail!

    Evening Champions,

Don’t post on here much, but have really enjoyed reading the blog today, some great patter and very informative posts.

I probably spend too much time on Twitter and Facebook, but none of them are in the same class as CQN, and Facebook is full of kid on fans who never see their team from one season to the next.

I really need to get back on here more often.

Finally shout outs to me auld mucker Nye Bevan’s Rebel Soldier, and Martbhoy59, good luck in the new job and hope to see you Friday.

Keep up the good work fellow CQN’rs and it’s great to do 4 in a row.

    Hail Hail

While the goals were a joy on Friday night, I really enjoyed VVD’s performance, a pipe and slippers performance if I ever saw one. I doubt he broke sweat over the 90 mins.

Pleased for Martin Canning and Hamilton to finally start getting some wins. His clubs hosting of wee Jay and his family was one of the highlights of the season.

Would it be a form of karma if Motherwell played the Huns in the play off final and were 1 down with a few minutes to play and Skippy were to pop up with two late goals?

    HT,

Teeth like a horse, I always got the wrong bit of the animal… never mind, I can chew a heffer through the letterbox.

That zeefuik of hearts is a beast. I wonder what a Ronnie pre season would do for him?

  17. Craigellachie10

It would be, but I would like the karma that horsed them out against QoTS in an earlier round.

Beaten by the Queens 11 has a nice ring to it.

Congratulations to my team, Celtic F.C. CHAMPIONS

Fellow Celts, Its been that way since April 7th 2012, that’s 1121 days or 98,000,000ish seconds as champions, thats just about one pound per second that was lost when Integrity F.C. died.

    just saying.

No booze yesterday, loads today. I’m gubbed.

We failed in three areas last summer. Our defenders dropped too deep, our square midfield were passed by one pass, our strikers were shooting off target.

    Sorted now, I hope.

Good luck to Crusaders and Dundalk. Malmo sound scared to me. Good.

Hope Legia qualify again. They were good.

Surprised to see Anne Budge on the pitch after the game. I thought she’d have been up checking the toilets.

    Digging

Between my finger and my thumb

The squat pin rest; snug as a gun.

Under my window, a clean rasping sound

When the spade sinks into gravelly ground:

My father, digging. I look down

Till his straining rump among the flowerbeds

Bends low, comes up twenty years away

Stooping in rhythm through potato drills

    Where he was digging.

The coarse boot nestled on the lug, the shaft

Against the inside knee was levered firmly.

He rooted out tall tops, buried the bright edge deep

To scatter new potatoes that we picked,

Loving their cool hardness in our hands.

By God, the old man could handle a spade.

    Just like his old man.

My grandfather cut more turf in a day

Than any other man on Toner’s bog.

Once I carried him milk in a bottle

Corked sloppily with paper. He straightened up

To drink it, then fell to right away

Nicking and slicing neatly, heaving sods

Over his shoulder, going down and down

    For the good turf. Digging.

The cold smell of potato mould, the squelch and slap

Of soggy peat, the curt cuts of an edge

Through living roots awaken in my head.

But I’ve no spade to follow men like them.

Between my finger and my thumb

    The squat pen rests.

    I’ll dig with it.

I heard one yesterday I’m not sure about.

The 1955 Scottish cup final was the first live TV final in Scotland, but the next live final was 1977?

    Anyone confirm?

*correct on the first one ME as I watched it on a wee black and white tele when Johnny Bonnar threw one intae the net in the last minute for a 1-1 tie, we lost the replay 0-1 to a Celtic supporting Tommy Ring goal, he turned us down for Everton 5 years later.

The next live game that I recall was 2 years later Killie v Falkirk. The latter won 2-1 aet. I remember this as my da was telling me about the Killie goalie who was allegedly rather small.
