Chances of Marsch pitching up at Celtic Park?

268

We are looking for a manager, so you know the rules.  Some ex-players will try to scare you with Roy Keane, various agents will push their uninspiring clients into the spotlight in the hope a media association with Celtic will enhance their chances of getting fixed up at Swindon.  And, the occasional manager who wants more pay, will start talking about the honour of being linked with Celtic, while linking himself with Celtic.

Managers who are talking to Celtic right now are not talking to anyone in the media, you can bet Newco’s delayed vat payment on it.  I have no doubt RB Salzburg coach Jesse Marsch has been sounded out, but his “interesting” and “an honour” comments about Celtic tell you all you need to know.

Although he was speaking to BBC Sport, he was talking to his employer.  Chances of him pitching up at Celtic Park next season depend overwhelmingly on Salzburg’s Champions/Europa League draw.  Learn ‘manager speak’; silence is what to listen for.  Today’s story does not fit the profile, there will be another one along soon.

  1. IF some Hun fans turn up outside Ipox Tonight…will The Polis uphold the Law for once and Jail the lot of them for Breaking the Law ?

  2. Jimmy …correct….cash out…..used to work in the betting industry……A great saying…..never be too greedy leave some for the next fella

  3. Big Jimmy – I missed your post yesterday.

Hope you and Wee Rocky Bhoy are well.

Good luck with the auld GG’s

You get yer sell ready for a good Bevvy session when these pesky pubs open.

    D :)

  4. Big Jimmy

Sir Gerhard got an easy lead credit to Rachel for that but townend might find his position as stable jockey in serious doubt as his horse was beaten half a length at the end.

Your going well keep it up.

  5. DAVID66..

Maybe we can Meet up again on April 26th at your local , which has the Beer Garden..OR We can maybe find another Pub with a Beer Garden in the city centre ?

I suppose no matter where we went it will be very Busy.

I STILL Fail to see why Pubs can open but only allowed to serve Alcohol OUTSIDE ?

Wee Nicola TRIED to explain in her brief yesterday that people drinking alcohol are more likely to get closer to each other INSIDE a Pub etc, but Folk can EASILY forget about Social Distancing IF Folk are drinking Alcohol OUTSIDE also in a Pubs Beer Garden ?

Apparently many Pub Owners are NOT happy with the dates etc, and neither am I.

WHY is it okay for Barbers/hairdressers etc who WILL obviously get VERY CLOSE to their Clients ( NOT forgetting other Clients ( if its busy) to Reopen sooner than a Pub or Restaurant…and yet ANY Barman/BarMaid can NOT get close to me indoors…whether I am drinking Alcoholic Beer or Non Alcoholic Beers/ Soft Drinks etc ?

Yet barbers/Hairdressers are being allowed to open much sooner than Pubs ? Also, I am NOT forgetting how close Teachers and Pupils can get to each other right now…never mind LATE April or May when some Pubs can reopen ?

I am NOT of a School age..so I dont need a School….I am Baldy…so I do NOT need a barbers/Hairdresser….so I am an Older, Baldy and a Beer Drinker, who is being forced to wait much LONGER than many others…to visit a Pub and have a conversation with another human being…( which apparently, for those Medical Experts and Scot Gov…is GOOD for someones health ) ?

its a feckin INJUSTICE…so it is.

    HH.

  6. By the time that I am allowed to drink Alcoholic Beer INSIDE a Pub ( Late MAY ?)…I will have been stuck in my hoose…and alone… for over EIGHT Months.

Last drink I had was on Friday October 9th 2020, when the Pubs were ordered to close at 6pm again for this 2nd Lock Doon.

My wee Bhoy Rocky…is getting really Pissed aff with me and all my AULD Jokes…Hes heard them a thousand times.

I think he may well decide to eat me when I am asleep ?

Wee Rachel Blackmore is a very Beautiful Irish Girl and Jockey.

I have also liked the English female Trainer ” Rebecca Curtis” for many years now…she is very Sexy also. I think she has FOUR or FIVE Weans…but she still has her good looks.

As for that Guy Pauls £5.00 Bet…IF it was ME…I would ” Cash Oot” for the £275,000 right now and Rent a Burd to take oot for many Drinks… once the Pubs reopen.

Regards cashing out £275k for the £5 bet

Easy way to consider it is this.

Would you walk into a betting shop today with a bag containing £275k and back Envoi Allen to win another £236k ie at approximately 5/6?

    The answer should be NAAAWWW!!!

    Take the money!!!

Keep up the good work 😃👍

  9. I don’t use bookies so wouldn’t know but on the exchanges, you can do “partial cash-outs”. In other words, pocket a lump of the potential winnings and leave the rest on. If that was the case, I’d be tempted to walk away with £200,000 and leave the other £75,000 on the final leg of the bet.

    …………

    Cheers mate.

This 3rd day of Cheltenham is the hardest so far ( IMHO), in terms of trying to find winners cos there are bigger Fields etc. We shall see, if I am right ?

I have Rachel Blackmore and Jack Kennedy ( Jockeys) for my main bets Today, but in the 3.40, there is a Horses called ” THE SHUNTER”, which is going for a £100,000 Bonus in Prize money, as it Won another race a couple of weeks ago…and that Race is ” Tied In” with the 3.40 Race Today.

” The SHUNTER” is around 7/2 Favourite just now ( I think ?)…I cant remember who Trains it or who the Jockey is..I would need to check ?

You are kaaarect about exchanges but in this case it seems to be a straight £5 accy placed with Betfair ie not on their exchange.

BTW there is also a screenshot floating around which purports to be the guys bet.

The screenshot shows he has over £20k sitting in his Betfair account so maybe not the lifechanging sum for him as it would be for most people.

Back to Basics…agree they will flog the Marsch non-story to death then suggest he snubs Celtic for another. We’ve seen it before. Pathetic journalism!

In the car this morning I turned on the radio, caught the words ‘tonight’s football’, so I immediately changed to 5live and heard ‘Steven Gerrard’s R……..’ OFF.

Yeah, I used to work with Betfair and some of the VIP customers would bet silly money. Literally – like six-figure sums on 1.01 bets…..easy money 99% of the time but one loss and it’s over.

I’ll be glad when Cheltenham’s finished. Horsey talk is worse than the political chat. Sorry guys. I hope you all win your fortunes and then we can get back to the fitba’… :-)

“Ah do I detect the approach of the cheese eating surrender monkey?”

    ———————————-

Don’t think so. What you should have detected were a couple of questions, simply expressed, asking you how long you would persevere with your “Best Manager Gets Asked First” approach before you arrive at the Tranche of managers likely to say yes.

    …………………….

“Best Manager Gets Asked First” approach. I think you’re making things up now. Well if it was up to you it would take a helluva long time to get from asking some top managers who are available eg Rafa Benitez to get down to the tranche of managers whom your level of ambition seem to apply.

There are a lot of managers out there who seem to be able modest teams to eliminate Celtic from Europe season upon season. Let’s get one in from that tranche who can organise a team to win a cup tie away from home. A manager who can select the best players for the correct positions in an effective formation to win a game. A manager who knows how to close a game down. There’s a Romanian, for example, on the loose who can do just that. There are others too.

  25. THEORIGINALSADIESBHOY on 18TH MARCH 2021 10:33 AM

  28. PETEC on 18TH MARCH 2021 2:28 AM

Celtic is seriously under achieving in Europe.

Europe has always been more important to me than the SPFL.

The games you Always look forward to are the European games under the lights.

When Brendan was here it was unbelievable the atmosphere outside (never M’ond inside) the ground on Euro nights. Genuinely we had hopes and dreams.

    …………………………

Excellent post. You’ve hit the nail on the head. It’s all about Europe for me too. Domestic success is just a means to get there.

  29. How can we any hold out hope of a top-class manager, or, indeed a front-rank up & coming manager being tempted?

These people & their agents will require ‘real’ money to spend on the squad to protect their reputation, in addition to a hefty salary.

Looking at the squad, I posit that a gross spend of around £70 million would be needed. Let’s assume we sell Barkas, Rogic, Ajer, Eduard & Christie for a total of £35m – that leaves a net spend of 35m.

The £16m we had in the bank will have shrunk to say around c£7m – we have a £13 facility at the bank – so £20m available, leaving us £13m in debt. Where is the other £15m to come from? Where would we get it from even if the board sanctioned a total debt of £28m?

Not so long ago we had £100m turnover, with £40m in the bank – we’d be looking at a £68m turnaround.

At Ibrox they have had investor fans, (aye) ready, willing & able to pump £80m into the club, for no return, other than ‘confetti shares’ – we don’t have people like that.

Season ticket sales will be ‘through the roof’ at Ibrox – will we be able to say the same? Of course, bad as our losses will be – probably around £15m, the figures at Ibrox will be horrendous, even with EL income in the new year – that won’t matter a jot – there will be more soft investment off the back of the “55”.

I have never suggested that it was easy. Anything worthwhile takes time and EFFORT. However some people on here seem very willing to jettison the effort part by restricting ourselves to a very narrow market.

  31. THEORIGINALSADIESBHOY@11:26

Agree 100% that effort takes time & patience and is always required regardless of outcome. However, as I said in my post, it is ultimately the availability of money that will restrict & narrow the market.

  32. All the managers getting slabbered over had to start somewhere. The ones doing well at the moment, won’t come to Scotland, aka, the SPFL.We need to find a diamond just ready to be unearthed.Anything else is just fantasy. The one who sticks out,is Maresca. His first gig, with a 50/50 chance of success, might tempt him.Winning 1 trophy out of 12 has fairly boosted Gerrards standing.

The problem is our procrastination.Any new manager is going to be hamstrung for time. The EUROS,the CL qualifiers.Loads of players on holiday, waiting on their agent to get them the best deal.Cannot understand the lack of urgency.Possible direct entry into Group stages in 2022-23 season, with only one team competing with you for it,its beyond belief.
