    CELTIC MAC

Willie Fernie was a fantastic player. In my first season at Celtic I played on the right wing and when the ball was passed to Willie he’d do his wee shuffle as if he’s passing the ball to me. I’d run down the wing and the fullback would follow me. Willie would stroll away the other way unmarked. A great player and a nice guy as well.

Willie didn’t like quite a few of the players. He didn;t drink or smoke and didn’t that these other players should be doing it. He wanted better for Celtic. A nice, all round guy and Celt. His wife was the receptionist at Celtic Park for a long time too.

Marvellous to hear your personal reminiscences of players who were legends in my youth.

Willie Fernie , Bobby Collins and then there were some we never seem to hear about.

Eric SmIth had some great seasons. Big B.P. My personal favourite Big John Colrain.

All provided us with some hope in the days before Jock.

Although I’m quite happy Leicester are champions I can relate to playing against a team with nothing to play for who carry the ball into the corner to waste time. I have no gripe with what Motherwell done to us that’s the game, however,Kilmarnock losing heavily and running the ball into the corner? I wish that team nothing but misfortune.Congratulations Leicester.

  13. Classy gesture from Charlie Gallagher there.

I don’t have much interest in the English game but Leicester’s achievement is a fine one. Could not bring myself to cheer the current Chelsea side- a charmless bunch of divers and fakers- just like the two Hearts players on Saturday- Oshinewa and Juanma

Charlie Gallagher , thanks for your time tonight . Celtic legend and top man. HH

  17. Well done, Charlie Gallagher, a truly great striker of the ball. A class act. And well done Leicester. Ref, the great Mark Clattenburg lost the plot tonight. Astonishing that there were no red cards. Should have been 3 or 4. And well done the Hoops and travelling fans on Saturday. Still drooling !

    Charlie,

It used to really annoy me when the press referred to you as Gallacher.

    Gallagher isn’t it.;-)

  20. Charlie Gallagher

Really sorry that I missed you.

    Absolutely delighted at two things.

Firstly, that Parkheadcumsalford got to speak to you after his many posts in praise of you.

And secondly, your final post to Eldiegobhoy. A post which epitomised your class and compassion.

    Thank you Charlie.

  21. MIKE IN TORONTO from last thread

Bitton is the best passer in our squad. says you.

I felt i was being harsh on Bitton so decided to collect his first half stats with my own eyes against Ross county.

He made 9 forward passes but only2 connected with a Celtic player.

    10 backwards and 4 sideways.

    Thats hardly a ringing endorsement.

  22. Melbourne Mick on

Damn it! just wakened over here and missed Charlie.

Ah well i’ll ask him all my questions when he visits the rebel
