Charlie is back, did he ever go away?

673

So Charlie’s back.  Did he ever really go away? I suspect not.  Sevco Scotland/The Rangers FC/Rangers International is Charles Green’s project.  He was the guy who picked the pieces up from the Rangers liquidator.

He was the guy, through liberal use of words like ‘bigotry’, ‘No surrender’ and ‘Dallas Cowboys’ managed to convince thousands of people to buy into a version of reality which convinced them to spend money.

He cut a deal with the compliant Ally McCoist to shift tickets in 2012, then did the same with Walter Smith in 2013, and co-opted a variety of flunkies to the cause along the way.  The £22m raised at an IPO was down to him.  No one else would have been able to achieve the latter feat, and he is needed again.

The move only appears audacious to those who have not been paying attention.  When Green bought Rangers assets two years ago, the game was up.  Those assets would be bled green, white and gold in order to provide as large a return on investment as possible.  Nothing has changed.

What is needed at Ibrox right now is someone to pitch up saying, “Bigotry, No surrender, forget what I said earlier, it’s the same club, now buy your ticket, you tell them Ally/Walter/whoever next”.  Charlie is perfect for this job.

The reality that existed pre-2012 is gone.  That club’s assets were bought from a liquidator and are now masquerading around the lower leagues of Scottish football.  Those who stepped forward, paid their money, and in doing so, actually gave thousands of people a club to support, are in charge – as is their right.

This is not a good thing if you have an affinity with that club, but it’s better than having Ibrox “razed to the ground” (remember Bomber Brown’s warning), so no matter what fans think of Charles Green, it’s time to accept his reality: Rangers were liquidated, fans were not organised, wealthy fans declined to step forward, the assets were bought by people who WILL make a financial return and Charles Green is one of the few people with an idea of how to deliver this.

  5. Ronaldo not in the game much.

Germans must be a good side if they can leave Schweinsteiger on the bench!

  6. I think Portugal may struggle to get back into this match. Germany making it look easy..

I think my side of the argument is much more aware of the calendar than the side that thinks it is still fighting the Crusades..

In any case, I anticipated your concern in the question posed. Even if you are disinclined to use the Crusades casualties in your reckoning, I invited you to ponder how far up the league table Islam was in producing casualties as a stereotyped cruel warrior religion, during the last 100 years, compared with others

tgcw- I included Communism and its atrocities in the list to be considered. As we modernise and the world’s population grows, so higher casualty figures will be achieved by those who make use of them in prosecuting their religions and ideologies.

Now, I think I have earned the right to see the 2nd half

Pepe is a pea nis and had to go but muller play acting should get Vincent lunny on his case tonight ;)

Then he scores to rub it in

  10. Years ago you never associated Germany with over reacting and diving. I can’t remember when it started but it’s a very unattractive feature of their game. Pepe’s an undisciplined liability.

  11. Think I might cash out my 3-1 correct score before the Germans rack up another 3 or more second half!

  12. bournesouprecipe on

Well they haven’t mentioned it yet, but lets see if they talk about Portugals zonal disaster at HT?

    3 . Pepe : red card

  14. Pepe was very stupid. But I have completely lost count of the number of games I have watched where a cheat like Mueller spoils it, by pretending to be hit in the face and trying to get someone sent off.

Crazy from Pepe, he did exactly what Mueller wanted, got sent off! But still, absolutely hate the way some of the players go down like they have been hit in the face with a brick……

Just look at the way he falls down clutching his face at the smallest of touches from Pepe’s hand, which probably hit more of his neck/chest than his face. Then when he actually gets a head butt, jumps up on his feet and starts shouting!

Nothing will happen, but he should receive some kind of punishment for falling down and starting the whole thing.

Portugal need to forget about it and, make sure they don’t lose anyone else, and concentrate on getting 6 points from the other games. Easier said than done though.

  15. Adrian Chiles absolutely doing my head in. He’s got 3 pundits sitting in front of him to provide opinions, but he thinks the world only wants to hear his.

  16. Sonsoferin

I’m with him on the point he’s trying to make! Yes, the Portuguese player was stupid, but the acting is a farce, and the German bench celebrating a sending off is nauseating.
