“In particular I see a present need to utilise the time we have over the next few seasons to be prepared, both financially and on the pitch, to compete with our Glasgow neighbours when we get back (sic) to the top League.”
Therein lies the problem. Oldco Rangers under David Murray were driven, “10-in-a-row and two European Cups” was the target Terry Butcher attributed to his former employer. They lived in someone else’s shadow but needed to think of themselves as superior. As a consequence, they lost everything.
Now the same crew at it again. “Compete with our Glasgow neighbours”. Why not just live within your means? Be as good as you can be, run your affairs in an ethical manner, whether you win, lose or draw? Spend the early years of Newco trying to compete with Celtic and the only thing you’ll achieve is a pervading sense of failure.
The Battle for the Blazer, AKA the bid by King to persuade the SFA that despite the enormous evidence to the contrary, he is Fit and Proper to be a director of a Scottish football team is surely pointless. Rangers International don’t need King as a director, all they need is his money, or anyone’s money. King doesn’t need to be a director to exact effective control over the club, all he needs to do is appoint proxies. The SFA must issue the JP McEnroe retort, “You cannot be serious?”

Chasing Celtic will bankrupt the Tribute Act – an easy headline to write I 2013.
Fast forward to 2015 and new Rangers will be ready to challenge Celtic.
They will not be able to compete in European competition but what they will be able to beat the rest of the SPL. If Celtic don’t acknowledge this we won’t be ready.
Only if Celtic continue to buy wisely will we stay ahead but our track record of buying strikers remains a concern.
In two years time will we have strikers as good as Stokes, Commons and Samaras?

Some Fholk simply have an agenda, and don’t seem to realise that we are not gullible bhuns…..we support a very well run Club, in a corrupt football environment …..we have ‘overcome’, prevailing against a football establisment which has all but destroyed itself trying to put their favoured club at the forefront……what is hilarious is that they contributed to the demise of oldgo, as much as sdm did……makes me smile every tim I think about it….

When The Renagers enter our league,they have a good chance of outselling us in season tickets sales.
They therefore have a good chance of generating more income than us from Domestic football.
They only need to win one league and come through the CL qualifiers as heavily favoured seeds ,and the table will have turned.
The first season that they play us will be extremely difficult.
Especially the fixtures at Ayebrokes.
Anyone who was the last Glasgow derby at ayebrokes ,the day we could have won the league there will remember how their rabid crowd frenzied them into a 3-0 lead.

I agree that we will face a s…storm of biased refereeing when they return. I think we all know that.
But that is all they have in their favour.
They are FUBAR.
In the meantime,it isn’t only Celtic who have been strengthening. Other clubs are now looking at the possibility of being a major force in the game.
Aberdeen,Hibs,Dundee Utd,Motherwell are all standing in the way of TRIFCO.
They will be stronger in three years time. As LEFTCLICKTIC said….
