CHEERIO, TILIO – AGAIN

MARCO TILIO will spend the 2024/25 season on loan at Melbourne City.

The Australian international, who cost £2million when he arrived in June last year, was due to return to the champions this month after a short-term deal with his former club.

Tilio had played a mere 28 MINUTES before Brendan Rodgers gave the green light for the wide Bhoy to go back to Melbourne at the turn of the year.

The player was put into cold storage at Parkhead shortly after sealing his five-year contract when it was discovered he was suffering from a torn quad thigh muscle.

WELCOME BACK…how Melbourne City announced the Marco Tilio’s second loan deal.

Twenty-two-year-old Tilio’s career at the champions got off to a false start and his debut stalled for FIVE months before his cameo role as a late substitute in the 1-1 home draw with Motherwell.

He also came off the substitutes’ bench in the 4-1 home win over Hibs in early December.

Melbourne City welcomed the opportunity to keep their former hero for another season.

Tilio first attracted the attention of Celtic with 20 goals and 19 assists in 86 appearances for City when he helped them win one Championship and a record-breaking three consecutive Premierships.

He becomes the second winger to leave the Hoops inside a week with Sead Haksabanovic moving to Malmo for an undisclosed fee, reckoned to be in the region of £2.2million.

The Montenegro international made two substitute appearances for Rodgers last season before being packed off on loan to Championship side Stoke City.

Haksabanovic signed a four-year deal with the Swedes last week.
