MARCO TILIO has returned on loan to Melbourne City for the remainder of the season.

The Australian international has played a mere 28 minutes since his £2million arrival at Celtic in June and Brendan Rodgers has allowed the winger to move to get some crucial game time.

Tilio, who is currently with the Socceroos squad in Qatar for the Asian Cup, was put into cold storage at Parkhead shortly after sealing his five-year deal when it was discovered he was suffering from a torn quad thigh muscle.

The 22-year-old raider’s career at the champions got off to a false start and his debut stalled for FIVE months before his cameo role as a late substitute in the 1-1 home draw with Motherwell.

He also came off the substitutes’ bench in the 4-1 home win over Hibs in early December.

Melbourne City welcomed the return of their former star performer back for the remainder of the A-League campaign and Tilio, speaking to the club website, said: “I’m thrilled to be back at City.
WELCOME BACK…how Melbourne City announced the return of Marco Tilio.
“The memories and experiences from my time here are unforgettable and I can’t wait to contribute to the team’s success once again.
“The support from the fans has always been incredible and I’m eager to create more memorable moments together this season.”
Tilio netted 20 goals and 19 assists in 86 appearances for City when he helped them win one Championship and a record-breaking three consecutive Premierships.
He is due back at Celtic in July.
