A 67th-MINUTE strike from Scott Robertson gave Celtic Reserves a 1-0 win over Chelsea Under-23s in London this afternoon.

Tommy McIntyre chose a top-strength Hoops line-up with Karamoko Dembele, Jack Hendry, Luca Connell and Jonathan Afolabi on display.

The Hoops boss will have been delighted with the display from his side and Robertson, who made his first-team debut last month, hit a deserved winner.

The midfielder made a superb run towards the opposition goal before slotting past the helpless and exposed keeper.

Five minutes later, the youngsters almost extended their lead, but former Bolton prospect Connell’s shot, following great link-up play between Barry Coffey, Dembele and Afolabi, was blocked.

In fact, the visitors had the ball in the net in the fourth minute when Robbie Deas headed home Connell’s deft free-kick, but it was ruled out for offside.

McIntyre’s side continued to press in search of a second goal and Afolabi did well to beat the offside trap and sidestep the Chelsea shotstopper before his shot was scrambled off the line by a defender.

TEAM: Mullen, O’Connor, Church, Deas (Welsh 46), Hendry, Robertson, Dembele (Savoury 84), Coffey, Afolabi (McGrath 81), Connell, Burt (McBride 89). Subs: Hughes, Hjelde, Paterson,
