Christie and managing your assets

Surely Ryan Christie deserves a season at Celtic to show what he can do?  It was a sound enough idea to buy him and immediately loan him back to Inverness.  He has flourished at Aberdeen, but with only 10 Celtic appearances in what will be three years since joining the club, he has not been given a platform to show what he has.

I get that competition is great for the creative mid spots at Celtic, but our plan should be to develop players into first team regulars, or enhance their value and sell them profitably.  Ryan is doing well enough at Aberdeen to attract interest from the Football League, but with a few medals and perhaps Champions League experience under his belt, he would be a more valuable asset.

Celtic players are worth more than Aberdeen players, just as Manchester City and PSG players are worth more than Celtic’s.  Bring Ryan in for next season, make a decision on his future, or work to enhance his value to the club.

I’ve definitely looked at the situation, and thought I must be doing something right if clubs like that are looking at me. It was great to be linked with a club like Celtic.”

     

     

    “Me and my missus Rachel, for weeks after we played a game of let’s see what we could have bought! Let’s see where we could have gone on holiday! Obviously I haven’t earned big money in my career, I’ve been at lower league clubs. It would have been life-changing money for me and my family. Football’s such a short career as well. You’ve got to look out for yourself and your family,” he added.

    Sorry for the delayed response. I was evangelising a St. Etienne fan who has had an unfortunate introduction to Scottish football teams.

     

     

    A bit of reminiscence about Dominic Rochteau and 1976 in Glasgow and Celtic playing St. Etienne in 1968. I think that he is on the road to salvation as he did not seem enamoured with his experience to date in Glasgow re football teams. An open goal actually.

     

     

    He told me that St. Etienne bought the square goal posts at Hampden as they hit them twice in the 76 final which was a symbol of how close they were to winning the Big Cup. This verifies his story
