Christie and the congested central mid

375

The creative central midfield position is heavily congested at Celtic. Rom Togic and Stuart Armstrong are both enjoying landmark seasons, leaving Ryan Christie feeding off injury scraps. It’s not ideal for a player with over 100 top flight appearances under his belt.

Four months at Aberdeen would be ideal for the player’s development, and would perhaps arrest Aberdeen’s slide this season.

Aberdeen can see off the huns for 2nd place. Hearts might just pip them for third if they can improve.

    Ryan Christie would certainly help.

  2. I wonder if we would not be better served by Sevco finishing in 2nd place.

At least it would resolve the issue of their status in the eyes of European authorities- Are they eligible for Europe on financial Fair Play terms? What ranking would they receive? And what profile would appear on official UEFA sites?

Otherwise, with another passing year, and O** F*** fever rising in our support, we could get to a level of “Why bother about it?” in regard to Res. 12 and the more serious matters it has helped expose around the events of 2012.

I prefer to have the “facts” established by the authorities then I know just how far up the WWE scale our game is.

If they finish 3rd they will qualify for the Europa cup so all the above would be resolved anyway, so better to have Sevco 3rd!

  7. Time for golf.

My uniformed speculation today is Alignment.

Left foot too far forward, pulling left shoulder too far to the right, restricting full turn at the hips, requiring an over top pull from the right shoulder, turning upper body to the left resulting in a reasonable contact with the ball, unfortunately on a plane that directs the ball well left of the target.

Working on alignment this morning, allow myself space to turn properly.

I had similar thoughts when they lost to Hibs at Hampden. It did make me wonder .

    Has Christie gone to Aberdeen?

    JJ

  9. Maybe we could give them Commons too? Or is he going back to Hibs?

Christie is probably not going to be anything other than a squad player for us and a loan spell followed by a transfer would be best for his future.

I hope Ryan Christie makes it at Celtic. I think he is definitely good enough. Great vision.

It would be a shame if his Celtic career was as disappointing as his dad’s.

    Both big Tims.

  12. On reading the ” O`Connell Off to a Flying Start ” article at the top of the page, I discovered that the tremendous Paul J O`Connell, Ireland and Lion`s Captain, is Eoghan`s uncle. Talent runs in that family.

PS Without Googling, a cyber dram for anyone who knows what the `J ` stands for.

  13. Sevco have performed way above my expectation of a newly second time try promoted team. I expect that their cheeky Chappy luck , aka mibs, will run out second half of the season and that they may scrape into the top six.

  14. Wonder who the incoming player is that we’re trying to make room for?

SMSM clueless as usual, as they don’t do positive Celtic.

Consternation awaits if Sevco finish second they could be in for a Euro shock.

In the O’Connell article, there is a pic of him wearing a red and black chequered top.

That would be a great Celtic away top in green and black. It’s not the same, but put me in mind of my old primary school top, which the pupils had input into the choice. The Hoops were vetoed by teachers, so we chose green and white Harlequin style….. 2 green squares and 2 white squares, diagonally opposed as you looked at the front of it. That was quite cool too.

  17. Meant to say if Ryan ends up at Pittodrie on loan I am sure the usual caveat will apply and he will not be facing us. I like Ryan and I hope he cuts the mustard with us.

Use a mark on your line 12 inches in front of the ball and get feet hips and shoulders parallel to that line. Tip from my pro that has helped my alignment no end.

I think Christie can make it and am sure BR will help him progress

Commons to Dons would be good I think.

  23. Not sure Aberdeen is the right team to send Christie out on to. They already have two players vying for his position, McLean and Maddison, and McInnes’s negative style of hoofball will be alien to what he’s used to.
