Christie and the congested central mid

375

The creative central midfield position is heavily congested at Celtic. Rom Togic and Stuart Armstrong are both enjoying landmark seasons, leaving Ryan Christie feeding off injury scraps. It’s not ideal for a player with over 100 top flight appearances under his belt.

Four months at Aberdeen would be ideal for the player’s development, and would perhaps arrest Aberdeen’s slide this season.

I reckon Ryan is up against Callum McGregor for the second attacking mid position. Difficult for him,as Callum seems to have first dibs.

    ———

It depends a bit on formation too.

In a 4-2-3-1 I would see Ryan in the Rogic position.

I like Callum, but I think he is a bit more suited to a 4-3-3 (with Brown and Armstrong).

Would like us to use that formation in Europe. Solid midfield and three quick forwards to counter-attack with.

“The collapse of the Bradford Bulls, among the most decorated British rugby league in the past two decads, is one of the biggest sporting financial failures in recent years alongside the liquidation of the former Rangers Football Club in Scotland in 2012….”

  4. LMCBHOY,

Was the full course. Only got cut a stroke so far because it is cauld and us auld guys are kind to each other. I did plead for a rule 19 though.

    TBB,

Yes I was trying to emulate the TBB Cathkin Caress.

Doesn’t happen often, but great when it does!

  6. !!bada bing!!

Got to be honest did not find it on the BBC Scotland website, but it is out there!

  7. Had a smashing day of hospitality as a guest of Albion Rovers with my son and niece, who was particularly thrilled to be introduced to Rod Stewart. Got a few nice pictures with the old crooner who was in excellent form.

Also met Brendan and Scott Brown after the game. Broonie remembered my son from their Hibs youth team days.

I had a few nippy sweeties throughout and slept like a baby all the way to Auld Reekie. When we arrived home, I had to ask who we got in the 5th round, despite having watched the draw.

    Great day all round.

BBC Sport England, Rugby League. The comparison of Bradford Bulls to the old club is there in black and white.

Wonder what BBC Sport Scotland has to say about it?

  9. From the BBC website:

” The old Bradford Bulls were liquidated at the start of the month and the new club will start the Championship season with a 12-point deduction.”

Hmmm…. a wee bit different to the reporting up here.

  10. Just seen this on the BBC website – apparently London Welsh Rugby Club has ‘ceased to exist’:

“Welsh were formed in 1885, and produced 177 Wales internationals…Welsh had been hoping to complete the season as a phoenix entity, but they were unable to provide a bond to the RFU or show evidence they would be able to pay rugby creditors in full.

All their results will be expunged from the Championship, and there will be no relegation from the second tier this season.”

What a ridiculous notion – a league applying its own rules to a major club, without fear or favour, even though it meant that club going out of existence.

And what a pity for Welsh that they didn’t play in Scotland, because then they’d have had the opportunity to ‘start again’ in a ‘lower division’, but could have remained the ‘same club’ and ‘retained their history’.

    Evening all,

The Lisbon trip proceeds apace with quite a few others now making enquiries about coming.

I have been in touch with others today about some events and am hoping to make arrangements re organised stadium access on the day.

    I will keep everyone posted.

In the meantime. take the 1967 challenge.

If you can spare £19:67 you can buy a raffle ticket and be in with chance to win a signed champions league shirt which is unique in terms of the foundation logo being on the front.

All proceeds to Mary’s Meals to feed 265 kids in Liberia and to the Celtic Charity Foundation.

    Please help if you can.

    Thanks

Of course I am always saying how fair and professional the BBC are. A shining bastion of propriety in a cesspool of malpractice and mendacious reporting :)
