Christie following the Forrest, McGregor and Tierney path

As you may have noticed, Celtic had a disappointing transfer window.  No doubt as a direct consequence of this, Ryan Christie was not released for the final year of his contract, just as he had been for spells during each of his initial three seasons as a Celtic player.  He made 13 appearances for Celtic and 67 as a player on loan from the club.

Two months after the end of the transfer window and negotiations are underway on a deal to keep the player at the club beyond next year, deservedly so.

I would love to believe this was the plan all along, that we knew Ryan just needed to add those 20kg and he would be ready to be a creative fulcrum, but I suspect he was below radar and this season’s blossoming surprised everyone outside the Christie household.

At 23, the same age as Jack Hendry, he is still young enough to continue developing.  He is two years younger than Callum McGregor, whose fortunes he has linked with in recent weeks.  The prodigious football nations of Eastern Europe do not have the luxury of signing players from even the markets Celtic shop in.  Instead, they develop players like Ryan and Callum into the graduates who eventually travel west for money we cannot afford.

In a different era, Kieran Tierney would have left Celtic without getting sufficient first team opportunities.  Young talent once withered on the vine at Celtic.  Let’s hope Kieran, Callum and Ryan, like James Forrest before them, are part of an onward trend.

Happy to report that in your absence from Bankieland, that Clydebank is more Green and White than it has ever been. The rotten mobs weans are Bankie Tims noo. Love a convert.

DILLIGAFBHOY-JJ- Yet again, the need for a Press Officer, Brendan was asked about Torbett case, after a statement had been released. Obviously when BR speaks on any subject, it’s magnified x a thousand. A handler is required for the lapdogs. They are more interested in blackening the Club, than sympathizing with victims.

Bada…I share your concerns, however the message management concerning bad news for Celtica is already set and controlled, overwhelmingly by those on anither Level. there is no single, professional at work in scoddland capable of “handling” that which is in play whenever Celtic are in the dock, to secure a favourabae outcome for the Club and the truth.

The wee sleekit keech’s who determine the stories agenda delight in tipping a load all over the club’s head.

  4. The Exiled Tim

I worked in a bookies during the summer of uni and every Saturday. If certain guys came in that were deemed to know a bit about betting we had to phone the race room in Leeds, inform them of their code name, ie in Clydebank “the vet” (as he owned a vets), then wait if they took his bet. This was always lower odds than published and sometimes refused.

Bookies want mug punters and not folk with possibility of winning big. Really annoyed me and still does.

Clydemuir Primary and Our Lady of Loretto Primary are at both sides of my Dalmuir abode. Celtic the favourite team in both schools I suspect.

NorrieM: Condolences on the loss of your mother.

    RIP Janet.

This may be a repeat post as I was sure I had done it earlier but can’t see it.

  7. Re the Torbett scandal and so many other things.

See with all these millions we have sloshing about in the bank, as we are not spending it on the team, would it not be prudent to employ a PR man to counteract the garbage that the smsm hit us with on a daily basis, whatever it costs, and in reality it would be feck all in the grand scheme of things, it would be money well spent, but no, we just bean over and take it, shameful imo.

  8. TET,

Understand your real concerns, think we all do.

There ain’t a hope in hell of getting anyone in scoddland, no matter the budget, to secure a favourable media message, when sleekit meeja huns are motivated by enmity towrads us and ours, especially in light of our recent successes and the “currant” plight of their favourite team.

When I lived in Ireland afore I moved here my best mate was a bookie, we done a deal that I didn’t place a bet in his establishment, it worked out well for us.

Some of the stories he told me made my jaw drop, the biggest thing he told me was that he didn’t care who won a race, all he wanted to know was who didn’t win as he could give bigger odds on them, and he knew for sure, it was his business to know, as bent as, as it happened we got on like a house on fire, hence I retired in my early 50s with no debts, tis a cut throat world out there so it is, regrets, for sure, who wouldn’t have them.

I’ve had to request mention of this person to be removed previously. Could I respectfully ask a moderator to remove the picture St Stivs posted on page 2 at 16:22 and any posts relative to the said photo.

    My apologies to all concerned.

I understand you 100%, but at least we could try, as it is we are doing nada, we have to at least try, if we can change the attitude of one person it’s a good thing, by saying nothing we are not changing that one persons mind, that imo is a failing.

  13. Norrie M,

Condolences on your sad loss. Thoughts and prayers for you and your family. Keep strong and cherish the memories. YNWA.

  14. TET,

The Club does try…………..It’s efforts in certain regards will be ignored, often gleefully. Also, if the Club was seen to throw money at the issue ( although this too would be a waste of time) there are those among our ranks who would then criticise the Club for profligacy. So’ we’d get it from all angles.

We are locked into a no-win situation in this regard, sadly.

  15. Bankie

I agree with you, we are in a no win whatever we do, but if we are seen to being doing something, as it is we are bending over, something, no matter how little has to be better than bending over….

    Sleep well Timland

  16. Norrie, a sad day for you and all your family. Take heart from your family, friends and faith.

  17. Bada……………he’d still be peein’on us just from further oootside the tent……………

Celtic do their best to keep most inside the tent. Probably the best they can do, in the circumstances.

If banning worked, look at Shortbread and the huns.

  18. Does anyone know if full match replays are available anywhere for the Europa League? I’m in Asia and with kick-off time at 4 am and work at 8 am, I can’t watch it live but in an ideal world I’d avoid seeing the score and watch the full match ‘as live’ later on.

Celtic TV may be your best bet.

Whether you can subscribe before the event is another matter.

  20. Well, colour me surprised!

Former PLC puppet manager, WGS is wheeled oot to isolate Neil Francis Lennon.

I wonder for how long do the PLC confidentiality clause contracts last, once a Celtic employee has signed such a thing ?

Remember when big Eck couldn’t sign Big Bobo from us, to Birmingham, because Big Bobo ‘refused’ to sign the confidentiality clause contract.

Sweeping stuff under the carpet dizny work!

If the link dizny work, then you’ll find the item on, news now Celtic.

Watch for wee puppet Strachan getting wheeled oot, again, to promote a 16 sixteen team league, again, if, the Stevie G experiment starts to slide doon the table. √

Weebawbabbity, hope yer well my Amigo.

Remember to rattle the cage for info about the hoot.

Delaney’s Dunky seems to be yer helping hand, so you’ll be sound mate. √

    Take care.

Celtic TV transmit the game as Live from 11PM as UEFA doesn’t allow us to show it live.

On the site you have an option on the landing page to avoid the score.

  25. Good morning, friends, from a grey, damp and breezy East Kilbride. Remember tonight to bring all of your usual pre-kick off timings forward by 15 minutes so you’re in your spot for the 7.45pm light show ;-)

  27. So they think Raheem Stirlings penalty was extraordinary in that a referee would give such a pen after kicking the ground…

Have they not seen Moreloss, and Naismith and numerous other Hun players over the years and referees in scotland…. Ffs
