CHRISTIE HEADS SOUTH

RYAN CHRISTIE is poised for another loan deal from Celtic with Sunderland boss Jack Ross planning a swoop before the end of the month.

The playmaker has spent the last 18 months at Aberdeen and is now being eyed by the League One side.

Former St Mirren gaffer Ross is an admirer of the Scotland international who cost Ronny Deila £500,000 from Inverness Caley Thistle in September 2015.

The English outfit have until August 31 to finalise a temporary switch for the 23-year-old midfielder whose current deal expires next summer.

If the player impresses, Ross aims to make the move permanent in January.

Christie has made only two substitute appearances for the Hoops and has found it difficult to dislodge the likes of Scott Brown, Olivier Ntcham, Callum McGregor and Tom Rogic in the engine room of the champions.

Ross is likely to team up the Inverness-born star, who has made three appearances for his country, with former Celtic prospect Dylan McGeouch who joined the Black Cats in the summer after quitting Hibs at the end of his contract.
