Christie in the city, aid to refugees

350

Well done to CQN’ers Eddie and Michael who answered the call from Glasgow, the Caring City, last week.  They and a few others loaded 20 tons of clothes (and some soap products) onto the back of a truck, which arrived in Serbian on Monday.  All clothes will be distributed to refugees before Christmas.

20 tons is a big truckload – enough to clothe 12,000 people.  Getting practical help to people in crisis areas of the world is difficult for those of us sitting thousands of miles away, but Glasgow the Caring City make it possible for us to get involved.  Warm weather clothing and personal hygiene products are a staple human right, but as you know, there many families are in flux this winter.

Absolutely delighted we have recalled Ryan Christie, from his loan at Inverness, where he has been since we signed him from them in August.  Walking away from Celtic Park on Saturday, when we failed to create enough chances, thoughts immediately turned to Ryan, a creative mid. I wondered how long it would take for us to ‘recall’ him.

In the coming months he’ll need support as he managed the move away from home and into the metropolis, so give him 10 minutes before starting the online petitions!

I`ll be delighted if Ronny makes the Celtic team what we deserve to be and are not.

    My motivation is simple.

What is in the best interests of Celtic.

  3. macjay1,

I think the Death of the Establishment team was always going to cause a lot of ripples.

I just want Ronny to get as many Celtic schooled players in that First Team asap, and it takes Time to do that and Ronny is,IMO, very patient.

KT, is an exceptional young laddie, very respectful to Emilio as well, Emilio is a Celtic Hero, flawed but my kind of flawed player.

I cannae wait to see the Bhoy Nisbett as well.

My Son played against the 2000 age group, that was a few years ago, whatever they were doing then, it was working superbly well. I’m hoping these Bhoys will emerge in the very near future, what struck me most howevaaah, was the incredible Teamplay.

Just a wee update and some stats

    > 85 original entrants including the free entry after we reached 67 meaning over £400 for Wee Shay and in the prizepot – fantastic support from all of you, thank you.

    > 67 (that number again!) fell at the first so 18 qualified.

    > But 33 have used the option that available in weeks 1-3 to buy back their history (all previous picks remain on the record books, no question of those selections being stripped – it’s the way things work around here!)

    > So 51 are ‘still standing’ and the funds for Wee Shay (and the prize pot) are swolen by another £150-odd quid each.

    > And of those 51, 46 have already sent in their pick for this week (The Token Tim, Deccyrollercoaster, Dena29, Hamiltontim and The Exiled Tim – c’mon, get yer picks in…….please)

    > And still time for any of the remaining fallers from week 1 to buy back in – just let us know at cqnpredictor@gmail.com

Right, that’s 2 of my (ahem) morning jobs done. Time to go to the one that takes all day but does feed my family……

  14. Morning all.

Dark, cold and windy down here.

Seems to be the same for some Celtic “supporters”. If being a Celtic supporter only means to you being a glory-hunter, away and find another team, any other team. Celtic is about much much more than winning. Some folk don’t seem to grasp that. The sense of entitlement from some on here recently has saddened me, for one.

  15. The warbsmyster lost the plot? Ffs, lol.

Stressed out Mark Warburton has complained about Willie Collum to the SFA.

Last week Collum awarded penalties to Falkirk and Sevco as Warbo’s All Stars lost their second Championship match of the season.

After the match Warbo was highly critical of the Euro 2016 whistler but rather than face an SFA disrepute charge the former Brentford supremo grilled the SFA over the penalty awarded to Falkirk.

From yesterday’s media conference the Press Association reported: “However, Warburton now hopes the kind of good fortune which saw referee Willie Collum award Falkirk a penalty – against Danny Wilson for a foul two yards outside the box – and later helped Danny Rogers keep out a last-gasp penalty from Martyn Waghorn will go his team’s way when they square up to their nearest challengers.

“The Englishman – who confirmed the club had received “the right answers” after contacting the SFA to discuss Collum’s performance at the weekend – said: “We had a bad 15 minutes at Falkirk and we have to improve in certain areas.”

No detail is given about what the right answers are. Bobby Madden will referee Monday’s match with Hibs.

Meanwhile the pressure of life away from being a city trader seems to be telling on the man with the magic hat.

Yesterday he revealed that he hadn’t bought his London based wife a Christmas present- and compared life in the second tier of Scottish football with managing Real Madrid or Barcelona.

What experience Warbo has of Barcelona or Real Madrid is hard to establish but that didn’t prevent him from discussing life in La Liga.

“I spent time in Madrid and Barcelona and, similar to Glasgow, they have to fill so many column inches every single day on the clubs, it’s incredible.

“Here’s a Real Madrid player going for lunch, here he is walking into a restaurant, here he is eating mushroom pizza. It is a goldfish bowl and I understand that.

“People talk about down south and how they are well paid at the big Premier League clubs, but look at the spotlight on them.

“So and so said this at 9.30, so and so said this at 10.45. It’s a constant spotlight on them because whatever the media outlet is, you need content and I understand that.

“But it’s just that some of the details are getting more and more intense. If you don’t enjoy it, you’re in the wrong job.”

Warbo added: “One of the staff said to me, If we played Barcelona tomorrow the fans would expect us to win. That is a great analogy.”

It’s unlikely that Luis Enrique’s world champions will be taking part in next season’s Petrofac Training Cup.
