Christie transfer breaking all Celtic moulds

538

Celtic’s £500k signing on Inverness attacking midfield player, Ryan Christie (20) is unlike any I have known. The player will remain on loan at Inverness for the rest of the season, a nod to the fact that the Highlanders have been good for his development and first team opportunities would be more limited at Celtic.

He’s a talented player who fits the criteria and we have the money available to bring him in. There’s something of a crop around the same age being acquired. More on this at a later date.

Welcome to Celtic, Ryan.

  1. are they dragging it out so that when we sign the Croat we will be so relieved we’ll forget about not getting a striker.

As of 18:47 on transfer deadline day are you happy with our squad?

Boyota & Janko may well become our next two most valuable assets I like them both but at this moment in time, we are far weaker as a squad than when the window opened.

Hoping for three more before midnight.

The latest I have heard is there is a cheerier mood in the camp but that doesn’t necessarily mean that it will end in a cheerier mood.

    Keep the Faith!

“Southampton need a period where some of their players stay for about five years and make that their club. At the moment they’ve been like a feeder club, with people moving on after a year. How many times do their fans have to see top players leave their club?”

I think Celtic and Dundee Utd fans can probably relate to this.

No doubt we’ve wasted fortunes but as we sit here at this moment we have money to spend. The next few hours will either give us a fighting chance for the Europa League or ensure we struggle big time.

Also the planning was supposed to have started the day after the Malmo defeat for next seasons qualifiers. So far we’ve sold Virgil & signed Christe not exactly earth shattering stuff.

On a separate issue, just listening to Shortbread assassinate Virgil’s ability & express doubts over Ryan Christie. Embarrassing stuff and no sign of them discussing White & Green’s arrests.

Shouldn’t be surprised but this is our national broadcaster.

Christmas twenty makes his debut on English course tomorrow. 4.40 Southwell. It’s 10/1 on PO. It shouldn’t be, it’s showing well at home. Each way should see a return.

Ex point to pointer so not completely lacking in experience. 10/1 won’t last.

Sorry…let ya back to the footy.

  13. I heard he was dead on

See all this stuff about Celtic not producing players at Lennonxtown – it’s total guff.

In our first team at present are Forrest and Mulgrew – both products of our youth team

Fisher, OConnell an Tierney have been there or thereabouts. Two are out on loan so they can play to come back in next year. Personally I’d have kept Fisher there. Never let us down and has great heart and that Lustig is a sicknote but that’s what the manager has done.

Henderson, McGeoch, Chalmers, Irvine, McGowan, Fraser and Scott Fox – all play in the top league when other sides have taken the players either on loan or full time.

Go back a generation and you have Liam Miller, McGeady, Maloney, McManus, Marshall and Beattie.

All of the last few names came into the first team and made an impact at home and abroad. Some of the above are having or have had decent careers since leaving Celtic – others less so but that’s their own fault – think Tony Watt.

Where do they get this stuff?

They clearly don’t remember or think before they open their mouths.

ELLBHOY. A good question fella we have only lost one player who could weaken our first team in my opinion now while I liked big Virgil I think we did alright out of the deal.As long as we get a half decent replacement such as the young Croat however, only time will tell and the window hasnt closed yet. H.H.

  15. the glorious balance sheet on

Nathan Dyer has gone to Leicester on loan, giving them another striker.

‘deluded’ or ‘delusional’ have become amongst the favourite words on this site in the last year or so

Glass looking very half empty at the moment.

Half expected AMcG to show up at Easter Road for both the game time and the laugh’s n giggles of making the TFOD II sweat their way through another set of play offs.

Could we not loan them another couple of players?

  18. So there you go, we got fifteen million euros for this ghuy and we paid four million euros for this ghuy and we sent a young ghuy out on loan but hey the team he is going to will pay his wages, and at the end of it all we, ‘The Celtic’, will be quids in! Money, money, money………..

  22. CORKCELT @ 6:38 PM,

… I’m sure you have a point but you lost me half way through the post.”

You are quite correct, it is pretty incoherent! Knew what I was trying to say, but hadn’t collected my thoughts.

    And – ELLBOY @ 6:58 PM

Firstly let me say by moving on those players that don’t have a future at Celtic and loaning out those who potentially do is generally a good thing. This is small beer in the p.s.d. World. Yet is hard work and was done well IMO.

Now to try and clarify, the players we have moved on; for a free, for a small fee, for a couple of Million and for Megabucks, during this transfer window, cost us, off the top of my head, around £15M.

We have, in main part due to VvD and some part, due to Adam Matthews, with the bit other bit part players, recouped about £15M.

Yet, we haven’t, so far, strengthened the team where we needed to. And the first team regulars that have gone haven’t been replaced by the same quality.

Know Janko could well be a fitting or better replacement than Matthews, time will tell, but we can’t assume that.

Having so far, having only spent 2.5M means we are much weaker, and while that squad no doubt needed culling. A quality striker, a quality CH, a playmaker were desperately needed.

Have we managed to fill those roles?

That’s the point I wanted to make, hope that makes a bit more sense…

As far as the National Broadcaster is concerned, it’s quite embarrassing. VvD in my opinion, while not being the finished article is the real deal, he’s a very good player, Keoman will make him a great player. Likewise Christie, if he was going to Govan he’d be the next Messi, he’s a good prospect, it’s great he’s allowed to develop under Hughes where he’s undoubtedly comfortable and at 600K is a great investment.

I like a lot of what we’re doing, but so far this window is a failure… 3 an’a’bit hours to see…

    Not holding my breath…

    Hail Hail

  23. Does anyone think EPL chairmen who started working around 8am will be hanging around for another few hours just in case Celtic want to loan one of their reserve strikers?
