Ciftci, Stein, and the Audit

560

I’m pleased to read Ronny Deila ask for patience with Nadir Ciftci, the player needs a bit of support right now. Had Nadir knocked a goal or two in against our Icelandic opponents, Stjarnan, he would have been in a different zone at the moment, but he missed a few chances – not uncommon among players newly arrived at a club, and has since found opportunities limited by a domestic suspension.

Dundee United started training after Celtic, so Nadir was behind the curve during those games against Stjarnan. Without a full 90 minutes in a month, he will still have ground to make up when we resume after the international break, but he’ll hopefully feel the benefit of the work he’s put in on the training field in recent weeks.

Remember the Jock Stein Charity Match, which takes place at East End Park, Dunfermline on Sunday, kick-off 2pm. There’s a host of former players are playing, including Tom Boyd, Chris Sutton, Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink, Neil Lennon and Stiliyan Petrov, while several from the Hollywood set are also playing, including James McAvoy, Martin Compston and Gianni Capaldi.

Funds from the event go to the Celtic and Dunfermline Foundations. You can pay at the gate to mark the 30th anniversary of Jock’s passing. There’s going to be a lot of memories on that field.

Three years after football fans in Scotland became experts in insolvency law, we now have to become familiar with Serious Organised Crime (I had to look up what it was today). The Scottish Government suggest it involves “drugs, human trafficking and fraud”.

Fraud is one of the small number of crimes where a life imprisonment sentence can be imposed on someone convicted of the crime in Scotland (it carries a maximum of 10 years in England). Even if you were 100% innocent of all charges and the possibility of contamination from dubious characters, the sheer scale of the matters in hand would be an enormous worry.

My hunch is that conspiracies and criminal plans to subvert information are difficult to maintain under the weight of these charges.

I’ve been looking all morning but cannot find what I’m searching for. Does anyone know of an enterprise which operates in the shadow of a Serious Organised Crime investigation which has been able to raise money which didn’t come from the proceeds of Serious Organised Crime?

I’m sure the audit will be just fine.

The Dresden CSC use Celtic TV on regular occasions (we have an Overseas season ticket); if it’s ‘live via satellite, then we use that instead. Other than Neustadt-Braw and one other member, I’m not aware of anyone else using Celtic TV in our general ‘area’!? We still suffer from buffering from time to time, so I agree with the comment that it’s from Celtic upload speed vs traffic around Celtic park, rather than here in sunny Saxony!!

In saying that, Celtic TV is a lifeline to us and many supporters worldwide, and if it was to change, then this would be disasterous for us! Having to rely on satellite companies, the costs incurred there, plus having to listen to McCann and Tanner, man that would be a bad day :-(

Going forward, if Celtic have to increase costs to suit, coupled with more options (including an upgrading of the OST), then, for me, this would be acceptable.

Looking forward to this season —-

link and service into LG gotta be improved – wonder if KC has a role there

brown/biton CB link must be a priority to stop leaking goals- we’ve a great shot stopper but he must be protected more

the whole team must step up in maintaining momentum in games where we play great for 15 mins and then go within ourselves – or at least play smart when ahead

I have no idea how Dave King managed to get a £20M claim on Rangers plc accepted by the Liquidators, but he did, and thus is in line for a dividend.

An interim dividend was due to be paid in July, but the volume of work put that back to August.

As of last week, Dave King was due and expecting a £1.5M cheque in the post, representing a 7.5% dividend on his £20M claim. Would have come in right handy, you’d have thought.

You can imagine how discomfited he must have been to receive not a cheque from BDO, but a letter yesterday explaining that some mob had whacked in a new claim for £25M, and that divies are aff until the new claim is processed, said process requiring a few trips to the Court of Session.

Moreover, the new claimant is the very same mob who have created the Contingent Liability on RIFC’s balance sheet, effecting a going concern warning from the (now resigned) Auditors on recent Annual Reports.

£1.5M of course, is a mere bagatelle to a man of Mr King’s reputed wealth. I’m quite sure it wasn’t needed for anything urgent.

  4. The Battered Bunnet on 3rd September 2015 3:07 pm

Not only that but if the claim is successful it’ll likely put his share down to under £1M. Still as you say that won’t really matter to a man of his means.

Didn’t understand why all the furore about Cifci when he was with Utd, never really impressed me.I will be more than delighted to be proved wrong.

  6. I thought that in view of all the bad news coming out of Mordor Mr King would be in situ steering the old girl on a steady course and mibbe drip feeding some of the £30,000,000 he ‘s got in the old wallet, and mibbe making a statement to appease his minions.

It must be a huge relief to the huns that they have, at last, not just real Ran**ers men, but real Ra**gers men with money to spend, at the helm.

    Afterall, haven’t they suffered enough?

    Poor blighters.

Somehow talking of means and Mr King puts the song of King of the road in my head ?

I’m a man of means by no means, king of the road.

  8. Celtic offer support over humanitarian crisis

By: Newsroom Staff on 03 Sep, 2015 15:18

CELTIC FC Foundation today announced that its share of the proceeds from this weekend’s duo of Jock Stein 30th Anniversary events will be devoted to assisting those people affected by the current refugee crisis.

The horrific and heartbreaking scenes which are being shared globally have shown the true extent of this humanitarian crisis, and it is only right that we support those who are in such desperate need in any way we can, particularly given our club’s own beginnings.

Celtic FC Foundation will be partnering with an international aid agency in order that funds raised can be used in the most relevant, efficient and targeted manner.

Celtic Chief Executive Peter Lawwell said: “Having seen the effects of this humanitarian crisis unfold in recent days, we felt as a club we should help in any way we can.

“Celtic was established as a football club to help people in need and this ethos remains a fundamental part of our club almost 130 years after our formation. None of us can understand the true horrors of this situation but as a club we wanted to show our support for those affected.”

Tony Hamilton, Chief Executive of Celtic FC Foundation, said: “This is absolutely the right thing for us to do. Our club was formed by immigrants, many of whom had escaped the devastation of the great famine.

“Celtic was created to offer vital help in a time of need and we feel it is important that we are there again.

“In the coming days we will appoint a third party charity with expertise in this area to ensure the money donated is spent wisely to alleviate the suffering, in the best way possible.”

The Jock Stein 30th Anniversary Charity Match between Dunfermline and Celtic Legends, will take place at East End Park on Sunday, September 6, (KO 2.00pm).

Cash turnstiles will be in operation at East End Park on Sunday for both sets of fans. However, to avoid the queues, tickets can be purchased in advance from the Celtic Ticket Office.

Proceeds from the day will be shared between Celtic FC Foundation and The Pars Foundation, the respective charitable arms of both clubs.

In addition to supporting those affected by this particular crisis, the Pars Foundation have earmarked a range of local community projects across the Fife region.

How does Ciftci get up to speed,if he only gets some time as a sub,or is the manager changing his system, and playing 2 up front,he said he may get a game at Pittodrie but that would be daft if he,s not match fit,and is he going to drop griffiths,he said the same about scepovic last season that he would come good with games, but he hardly got a game.the whole thing of signing a player we knew would be banned for a long time,is very dangerous.

  11. Can somebody tell Tony Hamilton that those who founded Celtic were technically not immigrants??

At that time they moved from one part of a country to another of the same country. We get enough of the Huns telling us to go home without Hamilton indulging in historical inaccuracy.

Sorry if this comes over as unnecessarily pedantic.

The Sheep game should be an interesting encounter.

Don’t be too berserk if we don’t win said contest.

A lot of new players whom won’t have played much football as part of the team, particularly our defence.

Be patient and give them a wee bit of time to gel and to perform as an effective unit.

The more game time they get, the better they will become.

We’ll be alright in the end.

Some chat over these past few days in relation to Celtic legends – Some we have been lucky enough to see play for the club – others we would have wished to have played in the green & white.

  20. Has Coorslad been on in the last few days. Just wondering if anyone has an update on Tri-Coloured Ribbon. Think he was due to be released from Hospital last week-end. I’m very sure he has more important things on his mind then posting here but I’d still love to see a short message from him saying hello. If no message from himself maybe a wee update from Coorslad.

Best of Luck Tri-Coloured Ribbon hope you are back here soon.

Another very good shout, spot on lead.

“But we didn’t buy another striker boo hoo………”

Some great posts amongst the maelstrom since deadline day and I hope you are right that Celtic were not involved trying to bring in one of your ‘waif’s or stray’s”, on Tuesday night, despite some of the hierarchy being inside Celtic Park long after 6.00pm.

Now that the dust hasn’t settled, I’m sure most Celtic fans are glad we didn’t bring in another badge kissing John Guidetti type, but like some other posters pine for the days of the Celtic starlet, champing at the bit for his first team debut. Prospects are farmed out because there is no competitive environment playing development games, for players nearing the first, another bi product of the great Rangers destitution, and the consequent demise of the Scottish Reserve League, I may add.

Punting money on transfers is where we’re always at, ironically in a window where we signed eight players the internet ‘could go, but won’t go’s’ were at their shoutiest. The can’t go but would go’s at their broken hearted best same as the downright ‘wouldn’t go if you paid me’s’. That’s the price we pay for the internet age and all its rage, some wouldn’t turn up to an SPL game if Peter Lawell donated his infamous bonus to Mary’s Meals on an annual basis. (That’s Peter Lawell by the way, not Lawell as in Lennon, not Neil Lennon ) * see the guide to spot the zombie traits *

I vote yes, to no more squandering of good clean money on poorly chosen forwards, – Celtic. the worldwide dearth of the ‘30 goals a year man’ is not a coincidence and goals are spread team wise these days, not just at Celtic. Leigh Griffiths will bag his share in SP hell, no point in buying flotsam or his mate jetsam for a secondary Europa League, regardless of who we are playing as the tremendous sense of self righteousness held by some Celtic euro fans might only allow for the need for the bottom tier of the stadium to be used, ( again).

Virgil ( It was easy to sign for Southampton ) van dijk wouldn’t entertain turning up at Celtic Park for the rest of this season, never mind the next or the next, something he has in common with lots off Celtic internet bangers. Bye Virgil and the best of luck to you, most thought you were great, and I hope Southampton don’t do a Victor Wanyama on you, but grant you your next move, like we did.

I commend Celtic on all our summer signings, this time last year we had CQN posts “Why don’t we sign good SPL players. Now look at us, we can even, sign them all and gift one back.

The main man is Jozo Simunovic and hope we got that right at least, but won’t bother with Zagreb quick news where he’s no doubt taking internet flak, like all players that leave.

I’ll judge Nadir Ciftci from inside Celtic Park when I’ve seen him playing in SP hell like most Celtic fans will, and even Leigh Griffiths ‘copped it’ on the internet and that was before he was stripped, never mind didn’t score in some euro games. I was looking forward to seeing Willie Wallace and all Celtic signings in between here’s to 2015 and the summer of ‘the eight.’ including the striker we did sign.

How lucky we are in the land of the living Celts.
