I get that if VAR did not have clear evidence that the referee’s made a mistake, they have no scope to overturn an on-field decision, but I thought the ball had gone out of play before Alistair Johnston crossed for Daizen Maeda late in the game at Easter Road. I cannot get exercised over the apparently inappropriate intervention.
An away game after an away European game remains statistically the time a team are most likely to drop points. These circumstances significantly explain why Hibs took all three points against the champions on Saturday. Celtic were poor in the first half. They improved in the second period when Daizen replaced Adam Idah through the middle, but it was all too late.
Last night news broke that Philippe Clement was to be sacked across the city hours before the deed was officially confirmed. It is classless to allow a manager’s sacking to leak like this.
Information is currency and info that Clement was to be sacked is worth a lot of currency to a board member, trying to earn enough support from the media to leverage later. Last week more news leaked from Newco, about a potential new US investor. That leak did not land well with the investor, who had not made their key personnel aware of the prospective action. But the leaker earned currency with the recipient of the news.
This is chronically dysfunctional and consistent with everything we know about Newco, especially their relationship with the media. You can expect to read positive spins on the club’s plans as a consequence, with the interests of the leaker boosted in particular. It’s all cosplay, the real world is unaffected.
In his 16 months in charge, Clement won the League Cup Celtic had been eliminated from before he was appointed. Celtic won the three other trophies awarded during his time, enjoy a 13-point lead in the league and alongside Queen’s Park, are the only Glasgow clubs in the Scottish Cup. Despite this lack of success, interim-CEO John Bennett awarded Clement a new four year contract in August. A the time, this appeared rash. Looking back, it was clearly another example of inept management at Ibrox.
On Clement’s appointment in October 2023, Bennett said, “A team led by our [then]CEO James Bisgrove, members of the board, and former Rangers player and manager Graeme Souness, has spent the last 10 days interviewing several high calibre candidates, with those individuals undergoing a rigorous interview and vetting process.”
I would like to offer a sincere thanks to Graeme for his role in the fiasco over the last 16 months and hope he is back at the table in the weeks to come. The only cloud on our horizon is the reported prospect of Barry Ferguson being appointed interim manager across the city. This could easily lead to a permanent appointment, with Ferguson exerting pressure on Brendan Rodgers next season. Let’s hope Graeme can convince the board to look at a different candidate.

Barra and Co – Is that a full EBT line up ?
QUADROPHENIAN on 24TH FEBRUARY 2025 12:41 PM
The SFA (you know the people who back the impartiality of their own referees to the hilt) have also sent officials to referee Turkish league matches.
I don’t know if you remember, during lockdown, Bobby Madden had almost reached Dingwall to referee Ross County v Celtic when he already knew that the assistant referee, that he had been in Turkey with to referee one of their league matches, had tested positive.
At the point it became public knowledge he was told to turn back.
I had a Technical Drawing Teacher at Sec School, he had the Nick Name…..” THE MOROCCAN MOLE”…Ive never understood ” WHY” cause he lived in Knightswood ?
LOL
Wasn’t ” The Moroccan Mole” some TV Cartoon character back in the 1960’s ?
HH.
We’re gonna need a bigger dugout…..
Hope Brendan manages to get to sleep ok tonight….
Only half of Europe is talking about this…..
Describing the new, obviously available, management team as ‘box office’ and ‘all star’?
Using the word ‘iconic’ twice in the same sentence?
You can almost feel how breathless Keith Jackson is.
Every word typed through his beating heat, his quickening breath. There may even have been heaving bosoms.
More erratic than erotic, mind you
Wait till the new management team get their first wage slip…”Tax Paid! WTF is this” por cierto
Surely Rangers haven’t appointed these two luddites –
https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/scottish/scotland-hit-vsign-pair-with-life-ban-1662153.html
EBT RECEIVABLES.
Barry Ferguson, £2.5million: Former youth player who became Rangers captain. Played at Ibrox from 1996-2003 and 2005-09.
Neil McCann, £500,000: Winger joined from Hearts in 1998 for £2million.
Billy Dodds, £190,000: Arrived in a £1.5million deal from Dundee United in 1999.
if properly administired, every game they ever played in would be removed from the records, and these recipients banned sine die from any football involvement.
Clearly, ‘beating heat’ should be ‘beating heart’. Though keith may be more breathless than I first thought.

I wonder why big Elbows McCulloch isn’t part of the dream team 🤪
Re. the disallowed goal on Saturday. Whether or not the ball was fully over the line or not is irrelevant. There is a matter of principle at play here. The Referee awarded a goal. The Assistant Referee kept his flag down. He would have been in the best position to make judgement. VAR had no right to intervene unless they could show conclusive proof that all of the ball was over the line. They have failed to do so, therefore the goal should have stood. We don’t want their opinions or guesses. We want them to apply the rules. I saw somewhere that Celtic have demanded to see the photographic evidence from the VAR team that showed all of the ball was over the line. That should be interesting.
Bazza says in his first interview that the league is gone but their full focus is on winning the Scottish Cup in May.
Great to see Pep McCann back in the game….
Fuhrer Fuhrer not on board with the new dream team –
“And with that, I am done until the new owners come in” .
Barry has managed for 243 games.
He has a win ratio of 43%.
The berz on their blogs are really unimpressed.
but i think he is a perfect fit. Will be a pleasure to give them a gubbing in march with all those ebt-ers in the dug out.

During the 2014 Scottish independence referendum Ferguson was a supporter of the Better Together campaign against Scottish independence.[101]
In July 2017 it was reported that Ferguson successfully applied for bankruptcy after running up debts of £1,425,633, whilst having only £3,000 worth of assets to help pay off his creditors.[102] Ferguson exited bankruptcy in July 2018, having co-operated with an insolvency firm.[103]
If anyone , P67 included, can say that the huge points gap we have is genuinely irrelevant and so they feel the same about that decision yesterday as they would if we were two points behind Thems in a tight race then they’re a better person than me.
The rules are meant to be applied uniformly to all clubs and irrespective of points , league position etc.
If we feel they weren’t then we should be protesting every bit as enthusiastically as we would if it were a title decider. If we don’t then it won’t ever end.
The hun board have apologised to all the names that weren’t picked out from the hat (bowler).
!!Bada Bing!! on 24th February 2025 2:30 pm
Great to see Pep McCann back in the game….
34% win ratio as a manager.
Strange still no news if we’re giving thems tickets for CP in a few weeks…..
dodds as a manager – 395 wins.
as an aside, i didnt realise how much they dislike the bold doddys.
39% wins ,
More from Fuhrer Fuhrer :-
“You think its bad enough getting Ferguson – and then Billy Dodds tops it all !! Jesus wept!”
their blogs are full of “chucked it for the season” types of comment.
i know we are at home to aberdeen tomorrow night and really looking forward to it, but wednesday they are at killie, an easy 3 points for the ayrshire team.
I remember reading of managers doing their scouting by signing players whom they had see on Match of the Day.
The Huns have scouted a management team from Sportscene and the radio Scotland fitba programme.
This is the link others have posted.
https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/brendan-rodgers-gets-celtic-proof-34731419
The headline is conclusive “BR gets the proof”
The sub header isn’t “looks” conclusive
The story itself is full of meaningless guff
“Fans reckon”
“Appears to show”
“Could be the angle’
Disingenuous rubbish.
No-one has yet provided anything definitive and so nothing to justify a Var overturning of the on field decision.
It really isn’t hard.
13 managers in 12 years.
more than the original club in all its history.

Seen on FF
bring back Clement. 🤣
my own little worry bead is how to keep pour players motivated, after the highs of european competition,
a feeling of come down and anti climax, withh winning a treble kind of old hat and done it before.
so how does brandan and team get them back firing in all cylinders in the run it.
i want celtic to win every game, and win everything, but i am also kind of ok with another team winning the scottish cup. knowing offcourse it is not them 9well maybe not hertz).
there was an interesting-ish daily mail column on how scottish teams have really underperformed in the europa and conference, when you consider the teams left in the respective last 16s.
anyways,
come on the hoops.
I remember CELTIC being robbed of a victory against LIVERPOOL many years ago as the REF said BOBBY LENOX was offside. The highlights were on BBC the same night but they only showed it once. There was no forensic check back then. Coming home the next night I said to my brothers that if he was offside they will show it again if onside we will not be told. We did not see it again until a few years ago when CELTIC played LIVERPOOL again.
DRAW YOUR OWN CONCLUSION.
Now using same logic I would say if S F A had cast iron proof that the ball was out before it was crossed over it would be all over the media. So anyone on here seen the proof yet??????
PETERFALKCSC.
Kilmarnock are 11/2 with BET365 to Beat the Huns on Wednesday.
I may invest a few pennies on those odds.
HH.
So , Celtic have demanded the footage of the decision, and how will that help in any way ?
It should obviously, but nothing will be done and nothing will be achieved.
Sadly, it’s the same old story, day in . day out.
Maybe we should have a flag day for the SFA so they can afford the top quality gear they have in England, buy wait, it might just help Celtic, perish the thought.
KINGLuBO
Favourite Uncle
Very good point you make
KINGLuBO
Ask yourself this, how many times do we score and it gets checked by VAR just in case there was a small infringement to allow them to disallow the goal. More than other teams I would suggest.
I get the feeling they just don’t like Little Timmy
KINGLuBO
Grade 1 referees in this country have a highly lucrative part time job, think it is £800 per match less for linesmen and VAR but they wont be on less than £400 a game, that is a damn good part time wage in the case of a ref its a decent full time wage very decent. Plus expenses. No wonder there isn’t any money for proper VAR equiptment.
Tavpen has put mare Sevco managers on the dole than Maggie Thatcher.
