Clean sheet and a win, please

140

Since their League Cup win at Celtic Park last month, Ross County recorded four straight defeats, conceding 10 without reply, which leaves them four points adrift at the bottom of the table.  Whatever they were fighting for when we last met, their players financial security is on the line every time they take the field.  New manager, John Hughes, will ensure they are not short of motivation.

Success is contagious in football and whatever traumas Neil Lennon has gone through to ensure his players are in the right frame of mind to take the field in recent months, he should have no problems today.  Winner’s medals certify your achievement and each Celtic player has a new one to show their loved ones this week, confidence should flow from them.

As well as the three points, I hope to see a clean sheet and County restricted to precious few chances, unlike our bizarre 0-5 win in September, which foretold of problems ahead.

  1. CASABLANCA on BBC 2 at 2.15pm.

No matter how many times I watch it…I never get fed up watching it….its just Superb.

I watched the Film ” The Searchers” yet again yesterday afternoon…Superb…but at around 1 Hour 8 minutes into the Film, and as the US Cavalry are crossing a small river over the heavy snow…If you look to the Top Right of the screen…and thru 4 or 5 Thin Trees…You will see the Sunlight catching the Windscreen/Bonnet of a large CAR Moving…maybe some sort of early 4×4 ?

This Movie Blooper was in a TV show of the same name, and if I remember correctly the Car actually stops and two people emerge to watch the Cavalry in the scene….Ooops…Bloops !

    Casablanca and bloopers you say?

In flashback, Bogart gets the letter from Bergman. She isnae coming to meet him. Its lashing down. So much so, the ink on the letter runs. His fedora hat is like a leaky gutter.

Next shot, he’s boarding the train – dry as a bone.

That apart, and outstanding film. In my top 5, always

  5. Jim Stewarts Huns career was from 1980 to 1984…and he only made 55 appearances…maybe he didnt play again after Nicholas’s winner against him in January 1983 ?

OR…Maybe THATS the ” 55″ the Huns keep going on about ?

    LOL

    HH.

  6. I too hope for a new attitude on the back off the Cup win. It only needs a return of confidence and its 5 0 and not 0 2.

I think its not personnel nor tactics but a crisis of confidence with no fans at their back to drive them on.

Saying that we should use the pool. Rest Brown as he could be carrying an injury, use the big pool of alternatives. Nobody to play all 3 games.

  7. After I watch CASABLANCA yet again this afternoon…I am going on my Play Station and play Medal of Hour and/or Call of Duty and Im gonna gun down many Hun Nazi’s !

  8. We are now being linked with another goalkeeper. What a mess!

We had two top class keepers in Forster and Gordon. David Marshall was available on a free transfer.

We have three goalkeepers who I don’t believe are trusted by the manager.

This goes beyond incompetence. This is negligence.

We are in a huge mess of our own making.

  9. Big Jimmy

Fewer bloopers than most, I’d suggest

Your afternoon sounds much more fun. I’ll be having a wee nip at 2pm (ok, maybe more than one) then sleeping for 6.

Awaken around 8 to complete panic and confusion

  10. FU: The only time I sing is at Celtic Park and even then, everyone around looks at me wondering wtf am I screeching😂😂😂

Nollaig shona duit agus do Margaret and look forward to your next visit over.

Garngad: Glad you enjoyed the programme – well worth posting, I thought.

  11. BIG JIMMY The Searchers my favourite western,I’ve been baptised I’ve been baptised ,Mose Harper ie Hank Worden ,Shut up you old fool, thank you kindly .

  12. Big Jimmy.. Quite possibly you were in the main stand… Because in those days we had a quarter of the main stand and all the enclosure underneath (celtic end) and we even had a I would say a 1/5th of the Govan stand… So its quite possible you’d be not far-away from huns in the main stand!!… I was in the enclosure that day…. It was bouncing!!

Congratulations should never be grudged but it was a sair watch on Sunday.

No reaction from our management team to Hearts half time adjustments which saw the play flow against us

NFL may be paid to pick the winning teams but unfortunately he’s also paid to pick a losing team

IMO, the players desire for the medal overcame the opposition, not tactics or tictacs as Neil seems to know them

How many of us are wishing for a win tonight cf expecting a win as we should be at home to the bottom team

Scott injured I think so Soro should play

Should play all the time I think

Anyway AETERNA NON CADUCUM so will still be supporting the Cellic as I have done since I was taken at 4 years

Nowadays. pre Covid I see babes in arms!

May they have a long life of supporting Celtic

The unbelievable thing is those problems from the 5-0 win have still not be solved.

I’ve been going over some of the recent comments and see Auldheid still banging the same old drum. I’m pretty sure that most of us applaud his motives and his campaign around resolution 12. However, he appears to be showing signs of fatigue and now wants to pass the baton to someone else.

For that to work for him, his chosen person or organisation must be happy to accept it, but are also perfectly entitled to say, thanks but no thanks. Seems to be that this is what has occurred, but Auldheid still demonstrating his inability to accept answers he doesn’t like, now decides to have a go at his chosen vehicle, the CT. The trust have obviously supported the resolution 12 campaign since day one and hoped that it could succeed in some meaningful way. That doesn’t mean that they should now become the lead protagonists, because Auldheid has decided that they should. The CT have taken up many campaigns over the years and will continue to do so but to devote finance, time and energy to a fight that has not progressed much in seven years, is possibly not a good use of their resources. I wish Auldheid and his supporters nothing but good luck but, please stop throwing mud at people, just because they decided not to accept the baton from you.

    ====================

Did you read my responses to the inaccurate information Hamilton Tim provided to justify the CST decision?

You will see that I was only presenting the perspective of the shareholders that is evidence backed who supported Res12 , not throwing mud as you are now doing.

The idea the CST supported Res12 as in actively took part in any part of the work is far from the truth.

I set out and gave credit for what they did in my response to Hamilton Tim but I’m not going to give life to the idea the CST were left out deliberately and this is the first time they have been asked to get actively involved..

As I said in July 2018 they had an opportunity to assist that the CSA took up. The CST decided to observe but that opportunity to get involved passed.

In that period from May to August that evidence turned up that indicated fraud a lot of folk who had appeared to be supportive of Res12 disappeared like snow off a dyke including the host of this site.

I have glossed over the abuse the requisitioner who delivered the paper work to Celtic took on leaving the 2013 AGM and the correct word was abuse, so don’t give me the CST were fully supportive shit.

What the shareholders asked the CSTafter Saturday’s Zoom meeting was to have a zoom meeting with those shareholders SHAREHOLDERS to emphasis – the folk the CST claim to represent, to discuss the merits of a legal approach.

Here is an extract from the e mail to David Lowe on Saturday evening.

” The £20k pledge seemed to take Jeanette by surprise but be that as it may I welcome Jeanette saying on hearing it, that putting such a legal approach under the auspices of the CST , would have to be discussed by the CST board which I had taken for granted as a long standing CST member.

May I suggest that such discussions include the 100 plus shareholders who are willing to pledge sufficient funds to seek legal advice and also also take in the Celtic Board’s AGM response to Res11/12 for reasons I mentioned at the meeting and set out later.

Such a discussion on the legal approach can be done by Zoom where the merits, risks, desired outcomes and practicalities can be examined to see if the sums pledged would be money well spent or just another waste of time dealing with a Celtic Board who following today’s meeting obviously live in a different bubble of denial.”

That suggestion was ignored and The CST who are supposed to represent shareholders (and at least one shareholder who joined the CST and so was a member but was excluded), has resigned his CST membership.

Whilst I am at it. The other and more important point of monitoring Celtic to see if they honour their statement to shareholders – ALL shareholders CST members or not – to engage with relevant authorities was misrepresented by Hamilton Tim and I can think he only did so because he was not aware of this

” My point for CST to consider is that in refusing to set any deadline to engage with relevant authorities on the principles raised by the abandonment by the SFA of their own judicial process, Celtic have provided an opportunity to make them accountable that the CST might wish to take advantage of.

The whole justification for voting Res11/12 away was that Celtic would engage with the relevant authorities, thus admitting there was a valid issue to be pursued, i.e. that a game where rules are abandoned cannot be a game Celtic can morally ask Celtic supporters (indeed any supporters of any club) to pay to watch without assurances that the issue of rules application has been taken up by Celtic with the relevant authorities before any request to renew is made.

Celtic know the principle at stake here and have a moral obligation to address it or their stance of being a club with values is a hollow one and their undertaking to shareholders in the AGM Notice without reporting deadlines is more than another kick the can exercise it is a response that treats supports with contempt whom Celtic think will renew anyway.

Therefore I would like the CST to consider taking that message of contempt to Celtic after Christmas and suggest that if the CST are not the body Celtic will report progress to by end March , the CST will have no option but to report back to their members with their views on the trustworthiness of The Celtic Board to act on what they tell shareholders – which is why I think a legal remedy strongly needs to be considered.

If the CST aim is to bring about accountability then I suggest both routes i.e legal redress and making the Board act as stated in the AGM Notice , are more likely to achieve results quicker than the long term one of amassing votes.”

Yet that was presented last night that Celtic had voted against Res12 and that was final whereas they had voted against Res12 to take it off the AGM agenda because Celtic were going to take over the task of engagement but with no deadline.

As stated above it was a perfect and easy task to take forward and show Celtic and the watching support the CST would do what it says on their tin.

I have no problem with the CST refusing to pick up the baton, in fact I more or less expected it for the reasons I set out, not just the abuse given but the uninformed criticism of Res 12 that found its way back, but I have a great problem with the CST misrepresenting my position and I suggest that if you wish to stop further harm to the CST’s credibility as a democratic organisation you stop throwing mud as it is at an auld geyser that will blow it back at you.

The biggest disappointment from the REs12 saga is finding out you have more to fear from who you took as friends than who are the enemy.

No that you mention it, there WAS other Hoops fans in the Main Stand…but not too many, but a few jumped up in the air in celebration as me and my mates did. I dont think there were too many ( if any ) other Celtic supporters near us three, the ones that I remember where to our left and a number of rows down.

The other side kick of Liberty Valance ( apart from Lee Van Cleef) was an actor called ” STROTHER MARTIN”, who played ” Floyd”, A coward and a Weasel.

It was Strother/Floyd who said..” Ill get it Liberty2…and was the booted in the face by John Wayne, who was demanding that liberty Valance should pick up his steak.

I always get mixed up between Strother Martin and Dub Taylor.

  20. Thinking back to Sunday’s final.

I’ll happily watch Scott Brown goad Naysmith and Halliday all day long. But that was yesteryear’s battles. A nostalgic ‘old firm’ homage.

What was much more telling was our Captain’s inability to steady a very rocky ship from half time onwards. Compare that with the season under Ronnie D, when even a partially-fit Broonie galvanised the team by his mere presence on the field.

Moving forward, the choice is Soro or sorrow imho.

I will openly state I provided over 30 signatures to get the ball rolling

From memory I have received 2 emails in the past 7 years on the topic

Why not set up a Zoom call with those as suggested, without any others involved

Contact us by email to set up

Can you / we build on the 100 signatures ?

    Struggling to see,

Why are you dragging the Celtic Trust into this ?

And in my view throwing assertions at their agenda.

Have you made same request with CSA, Affiliation, or any other Celtic groups ?

Incidentally it would have been great to have an update through email, as a signatory, which I have not received, instead of running any agenda through Twitter etc ( many of us may not use Twitter or facebake etc) or on forums such as this

  24. would rather we played 1-5-5 , that’s 5 in midfield and 5 forwards with no defence , as we have been playing without a defence all season , we have leaked goals with so called defenders on the park , so go without defenders and attack attack attack.

  25. TOMMYB @ 10:53 PM

In my time reading this blog since its inception, I don’t think I’ve ever felt so despondent and angry as I was on reading your quite shameful and snide post to Auldheid. Auldheid has spent the last 8 years of his life indefatigably fighting to protect Celtic fans ( and fans of other clubs ) from the corruption that riddles our so called sport. He is a class act, with unmatched integrity. The fanbase he has fought to protect presumably includes you. Maybe you can enlighten us as to what you have done about the secret 5 way corrupt agreement, the Lord Nimmo farce, the Board’s utter disregard of its fiduciary responsibilities, it’s acceptance of Rangers cheating, and Peter Lawwell’s blatant lying to shareholders?

We are watching a corrupt and rigged game, worse than professional wrestling. By definition, it is not sport. The saddest thing about the whole affair is that fans who realize this, some of them following Celtic worldwide for up to 60 years, are now walking away. I will probably join them.

  26. as I have mentioned previously it doesn’t matter a hoot how long you spend setting up on for set pieces when the defenders are have are rank rotten, you are just wasting your time.

  27. Auldheid

Keep on, but the time has come for season book holders to decide if they want just to see Celtic or see Celtic play in a properly regulated league with the same rules applied to all clubs.

One of the questions I sent to the AGM this year was on ffp, the club secretary replied saying that there are rules on this here and for Europe and the club expects these to be applied fairly and with transparency, fat chance I think
