Clear rule required on storms

770

Although I believe it was the rain which caused the cancellation of today’s game it was the storm which caused me most concern. Football should not be played when a storm strong enough to cause structural damage is expected. Any building can be affected by a storm. While there is a tiny chance that any football stadium will be damaged, the consequences of a roof part landing on a packed stand would be severe.

There should be a clear rule on this.

The Foundation Christmas Appeal bucket collection has been postponed for two weeks. This is a critical period for all of the agencies who were due to receive funds from this appeal, I know the Foundation are working with them in the interim period. Today’s attendance would probably have been low due to the conditions, so hopefully the delay will raise more money than we would have raised had today’s game gone ahead.

Maybe if I vote for myself it will encourage others to knock me off a self-created perch!

I had been thinking the POTY suggestion would have been good to give Auldheid a wee bit of encouragement in his Res12 efforts but obviously my view on this matter is not shared by many others. Perfectly understandable.

  3. Rest in Peace William McIlvanney…..a true giant when compared to the churnalists and stenographers of his home land.As an author he was peerless in his home country too.

Would love to have known his opinions on the disgraceful fiasco at Ibrox since Murray acquired the business with a 6 million advance from his Masonic banking friends.

Maybe his brother Hugh will put his head above the parapet on this omnishambles one day?

William McIlvanney you were a man of principle and a legend of your time.

I think setting up a league table for Poster of the Year is about the last thing CQN needs at the minute.

The blog is eating itself quite enough as it is.

    Consequently, I vote for Philvis.

The Holy Goalie playing a blinder tonight against the English Horribles, by the sound of it. Good man.

  5. On Tommy – I mentioned last night that he has a seat for life at Celtic but is unable to attend.

He seldom gets to see Celtic, other than Sportscene, as he doesn’t have any form of paid for TV.

I posted discretely on this last night and 3 or 4 CQNers emailed me to offer assistance.

We’d like to get a Sky dish with BT and Skysports and I have asked Celtic to sort Celtic TV.

If we install and pay for the subscriptions that would allow him to watch the Hoops play, something he misses greatly.

He gets the Record delivered ( it’s s generation thing!) and he has s subscription to the Celtic View and that’s where his football news comes from.

If anyone wants to assist email me – david@cqnpublishing.co.uk

  6. See Bitons agent talking today saying premiership teams have been in contact with Celtic. Next one for the off I think.

Did the club not offer to pay up for the whole thing?

I’m not that interested in the living wage argument and using it to bash the club, but would’ve thought this would been something the club could sort in minutes without costing a penny (i.e. Sky/Virgin sponsorship).

I’ll ping you an email anyway.

That Dudu Dahan guy is a master at flying kites. He is the guy who, through a salivating daily Record, told us that Beram Kayal was attracting serious interest from Man Utd towards the end of 2010/11.

He is also the guy who told John Park and co that Gershon, Ambrose and Scepovic were good signings for Celtic.

He also hawked Amido Balde on loan to Beveren last season and permanently to Metz at the start of this season, no doubt assuring these clubs that his client was a drogba-esque goal machine.

The key denominator in all of these lies is that they were designed only to make Dudu Dahan money.

    As is today’s Bitton non-story.

The fact that he was able to talk not one but two clubs into taking Amido Balde on tells me he does a very good line in BS. A confidence trickster of the highest order.

Don’t know why people get excited about John James has he predicted anything correctly. Think he’s a Zombie out to wind up the Celtic support.

  14. I enjoyed that.

Was Mourinho looking on with admiration when the Bournemouth player was down injured (?) and all the outfielders gathered round the manager for instructions?

Didn’t watch the Chelski game but watched a very good Wolfsburg v BVB game with some cracking late drama. BVB ran out 2-1 winners makes it a bit more interesting.

We’ve got tickets for a match at Hannover (as apparently Hamburg and St Pauli are away that weekend).

But any recommendations to do with the rest of our time, we are there 4 days??

    THE_HUDDLE,

Apart from the obvious a visit to the fish market in the early hours of the morning is a Hamburg speciality. Apparently you can acquire almost anything there including a Thai wife which IMHO is almost as good as a sweetie wife and much better than a sweaty wife.
