Climbing the mountain, confusing perpetrator for victim

396

It wasn’t a glorious performance last night but I’m delighted to be through to the League Cup quarter final nonetheless. Cup games against lower league opposition are there to be won, nothing else. There were a few bright spots: Saidy Janko looks like he has a sound future in the game, while Efe Ambrose seemed to enjoy his role as senior partner in the defence.

While we struggled for an opening, Kris Commons again stepped forward with a crisp strike from outside the box into the corner of the net. He remains the key to a large number of locks. We should have added more before Stefan Johansen grabbed a late goal to tidy things up.

On the way into the game I predicted Aberdeen’s defeat. With winning 8 league games in a row and being clear at the top of the league, every game has been a cup final for them, until last night. A game against lower league opposition is just not the same (see above). Footballers are not robots, so it’s difficult to ‘climb the mountain’ for every game.

How they react to this defeat will be interesting. Last season they won seven games in a row before Dundee took a point from them, heralding an immediate slide in form and the end of their title challenge. They have a trip to Inverness on Saturday to prepare for.

Charles Green’s apparent claim for legal expenses from Newco Rangers is jarring, but far from surprising.

The Rangers Football Club Ltd (formerly Sevco Scotland Ltd), a member club of the SFA, was the vehicle Green used to strike the Sale and Purchase Agreement for (oldco) Rangers’ assets. It is the beneficiary of that deal, not the victim. The alleged victim is the rightful owner of the assets, which may be Sevco 5088 Ltd, (oldco) Rangers creditors, or someone else altogether.

It is no surprise whatsoever that the beneficiary of a deal would be legally obliged to defend the officers who signed the deal on its behalf.

Still, there’s more to this episode than a simple case of alleged wrongdoing. Fans are caught between affection for the football club and anger at what was allegedly done in 2012. By the football club. I wouldn’t want to have to reconcile those emotions.

We have two big games to look forward to in the next week, both at Celtic Park. Club sponsor, Magners, have kindly offered us two Premium seats in the Jock Stein Stand for Saturday’s game. To win the tickets you need to answer the following question:

Who do Celtic play on Saturday?

Dallas Dallas – Here is the link to the Kevin Bridges / Graham Hunter interview, all of the interviews are worth a listen to

Great interview. Thanks for that. Hunter was very good.

  2. Efe looked more comfortable with the role as chief centre half and Blackett demonstrated that, on appearances so far, he’s a better centre back than left back.

Gerrybhoy, Graham Hunter puts all the guys who work in our sports press to shame. The only issue I have with getting rid of sky sports was not watching Revista De La Liga. Graham Hunter is really good on it, giving an insight the types of Keevins, Jackson, Young can only dream of.

When Ciftci signed I thought it would be 2016 before we would see the best of him, whether we should have signed a player with questionable character is another debate.

I thought he was awful last night and on another evening could have been sent off.

  6. I see police Scotland appear to have, once again screwed up the investigation of that poor woman. It is quite unbelievable what is going on with pin this organisation.

watching the rugby, which I quite like,

canny understand the rolling maul with the defending team unable to get near the guy carrying the ball

    ——

That’s a rubbish of the game now IMHO. Used to be the ball carrier had to be at the front so the opposition had some chance of getting it. Not now.

So sorry to hear that that lady was found dead. Heard her poor daughter on the radio yesterday. She sounded very calm and dignified despite the horrific fears she must have been enduring.

Now I am not into politics, and not looking to start a political debate

    but

I also found Dr Richard Simpson news cast very interesting on Nicola Sturgeon, in her being extremely liberal with the truth on NHS waiting lists, his comments that if he had made such a comment he would be up in front of the medical council, yet she is untouchable

Hopefully some of the SNP actual performance now being highlighted

And for clarity for all, I voted yes, then labour

Police Scotland, set up and supported by SNP

As per OBAFA, to target our fans – the £3m budget for this act could be better spent dealing with the police call centre which ain’t working

Slowly but surely the Scottish people will start to realise just how incompetent the nats have been in office.

Police Scotland has been a disaster, the NHS in Scotland trails the NHS in England on every measure, and for the first time in history the education system in England is better than it is in Scotland.

Yes was never a vote for the SNP as you well know, but the SNP may have been the vehicle we needed to use to break us away from the Westmonster piglovers. In our wisdom we decided that we would stay unionised. I wonder if the results of the promised “vow” will beat res12 :-) Only kidding res 12 bhoys. I am sure you will win.

I think politicians are in it for themselves, unlike football CEOS and chief scouts who are most trustworthy :-)

Ernie, I am not wanting a political discussion, but I agree with your comments, I have a mhate who is a union official who is livid with what has been done for youth college training places etc

Now how about the Celtic team to face Hearts, and who should play left back in both games ?

It was wet and windy in north Glasgow today but as the rain had stopped at lunch time the children were allowed out to play.

Before going out I told all of them to put their jackets on because it was cold and still damp. Eleven of them hadn’t a jacket with them and it transpired that eight of those eleven didn’t even own a jacket.

After the break one girl was complaining that her feet were wet. I asked her to take off her shoes so that I could put them on the heater to dry. When I looked at the soles, there was a hole the size of a 50p in each shoe.

    That’s the reality.

  17. Corkcelt, apologies for bringing in some political comments there

Like DD, fuming that another vulnerable person and her family has been badly let down by our so called emergency services, these changes driving the failure for me needs to g back to root cause, which is how it is managed and delivered by our Scottish government

    But

Who should play left back against Hearts then Fenerbache ?

And I hope you make the CQN Coarner :-)

  18. Being “liberal” with the truth; is that not the opposite of being economic with it, and therefore equates with being open and honest?

    2. “If you remove the English army tomorrow and hoist the green flag over Dublin Castle, unless you set about the organization of the Socialist Republic your efforts would be in vain. England would still rule you. She would rule you through her capitalists, through her landlords, through her financiers, through the whole array of commercial and individualist institutions she has planted in this country and watered with the tears of our mothers and the blood of our martyrs.”

Though the second quote was of it’s time, maybe we need to replace “England” with “The Class”, for want of a better object. The working class experience in England is the same as here.

Quote 1 is interesting – you have to relinquish any idea of national government to agree with it. So the debate between Scottish and British government becomes a fallacy.

I was told that Old Kilpatrick was the birthplace of my patron Saint Patrick. Sadly Saint Patrick’s RC church Old Kilpatrick was destroyed in a vandal arson attack 3 weeks ago. The OK Church of Scotland are allowing a 9am Sunday Mass in their church. Modern times.
