Cluj again make 11 changes

86

Cluj warmed up for their second trip to Celtic Park of the season with a comfortable 3-0 win over fourth placed Gaz Metan on Sunday.  That followed elimination from Cupa Romania on penalty kicks on Wednesday, although manager, Dan Petrescu made 11 changes for the Cup game from his usual league selection.

Petrescu also made 11 changes for the league game before facing Celtic last time.  The gamble paid off in Champions League qualifiers August but the Cluj side who won on Sunday will look a lot like the one we face on Thursday.  Making so many changes is brave and I like bravery, you need to take chances in football, but not necessarily in cup competitions.

The stats for their game against Gaz Metan are interesting, Gaz, despite losing heavily and being away from home to the champions, enjoyed 57% possession and had more attempts at goal.  This is a counter-attacking team.

  4. Shocking penalty decision for Spurs, and VAR uphold it.Idiot refereeing mouthpiece in the studio, agrees with referee.

  5. A shocker of a VAR confirmation for the Spurs penalty .

Soon need a panel to verify the panels decision.

    VP 😁😁😁😁😁

  6. Bayern denied clear penalty even after var. what is the point?

Champions league looks as loaded as the spfl.

  7. Another shocking penalty decision, this time not given to Bayern.Once again the idiot in the studio agrees.None ofbthe panel.WTF is the point of VAR whenthey keep getting decisions wrong.Give offside for 2 Centimetres, yet miss stonewall penalties.Farce.

If that’s genuine Celtic should be asking questions.

  9. Another strange penalty decision in the Spurs game.

Premier football has a new side line and talking shop.. VAR controversy.

Just like Sky have made a show about transfer countdowns, I predict the next show will be about VAR rights and wrongs.

    Roll up, roll up.

  10. Turkeybhoy.

Absolutely correct. It should have been a foul against Spurs. High boot with studs showing.

All the ref in the studio would says was that it wasn’t a clear and obvious error so VAR wouldn’t overturn it.

    Except that it was.

  12. the long wait is over on

Spurs taking a thumping from Bayern Munich – 7-2 at home.

Will there be calls for them to be dropped from the champions league as there were IIRC when we got battered by PSG ?

    Nah. Didn’t think so.

  13. Hardly a single Bayern shot above ground level, and all of them buried in the corner of the net.

  14. Gnabry has turned into a bit of a player. On and off at Arsenal, but what an improvement.COUTINHO ran the show.

Quality goals indeed, but let’s not go overboard. Bayern were playing a team from a Micky Mouse league.

    Ha!

  17. GREENPINATA @ 9:46 PM,

“Spurs suffering a Euro defeat of Brendan Rodgers proportions”

We were very credible at home to Bayern if I remember correctly. Unlucky not to get something out of that game 1-2 game.

Now according to Tom English, we were swept aside in Munich 3-0.

Of course in Europe Lenny and Brendan have suffered bad defeats away from home against top quality opposition. Ronny never did, but Ronny never got us that far.

At Celtic Park, we played arguably a better Bayern side, the players gave a good account of themselves – you could leave the slagging of Celtic to the Scottish stenography, they’ve had enough practise.

    Hail Hail

Of course you did notice the emoji at the end of the post; didn’t you ?

    HH to you.

  19. After all the support for Wanyama to return on loan, I’m now concerned that he can’t get his place in the porous Spurs side.

Their midfield couldn’t have stopped a toddler staggering past them.

  20. “There were so many spies within the IRA the IRA could not kill them all”. BBC

Don’t agree with that assumption. Obviously, they should all have been killed and could have been, but the political dimension at the time meant the doves ruled the hawks head. It was a strategic decision that was not without merit. The long war could only be won with North of Ireland community support.
