At Saturday’s, league game at home to strugglers, Hermanstadt, Cluj manager Dan Petrescu rested every single player who started against Celtic last week. Whatever modest noises he makes in the media before tomorrow’s game, Cluj are prepared to throw everything into beating Celtic.

We still have an important position within the squad to fill, and there were are two good candidates available up until recently. We definitely require an ageing forward player, with EPL experience, who for reasons of career threatening injury, or substance/alcohol abuse is available free or cheap. The team needs a player who can clutter up the physio’s treatment table for three to four months, before taking up a place on the bench for a few months, and then being released again. We have the money available, so c’mon Lawwell, open the biscuit tin and fork out the mere £40kpw or so, that it would take to loan a player, to fill this important position.
There were two excellent options available yesterday. We have just missed out on Frazier Campbell, who has signed for Huddersfield yesterday, but Wilfried Bony, released by Swansea City, and currently on training at league two outfit Newport, is available.

We will control the game and have plenty options to mix it up if we are finding them hard to break down – which I dont think we will.
Lennys encouragement of the players to shoot on sight is ideal – Cluj will get comfortable if there is incessant passing left to right and vice versa. Taking a pop on sight if not leading to a goal can win you a corner, give your strikers the chance to go for a rebound off the keeper, and generally create confusion and concern in the opposition back line.
