Dalglish, we are told, ran to his bedroom to rip posters off the wall, in case Sean Fallon would see them and reconsider, but Celtic have always been open to all. Kenny will tell you, he was assured Rangers were preparing to sign him, but this was Celtic. In 1967. He knew which way the tide of history was flowing.
Sean’s boss, The Boss, once spent his free Saturdays following Rangers. Stein didn’t just become a lapsed Rangers fan, according to his friend and biographer, Archie Macpherson. As Celtic manager, he made it his business to wholly and completely end the dominance they had over the then humble team from Parkhead. I’ll spare the detail of how that sentiment translated down to the vernacular.
Scott Allan made no secret of his boyhood allegiances. He would have gone to Ibrox in a flash, as would so many of our historic greats, but this decision came down to a simple truth. The basic salary on offer at Celtic is around three times what the jungle drums were offering across the city. This disparity means it’s not just about the money, it’s about that tide of history, which Kenny Dalglish knew so well.
Today is witness to one more veil being peeled off, exposing more of the consequences of what happened when Rangers decided not to make provisions for the inevitable challenge to their aggressive tax avoidance schemes. Their Discounted Options Scheme was found to be illegal, as were several of their Employee Benefit Trusts, with the remainder subject to appeal, but the club went to the wall because that inevitable challenge made it impossible for them to borrow other people’s money.
Liquidation followed and hundreds of creditors were left unpaid, but while a newco from such ashes could change their name to Rangers and wear the same jerseys, it was always going to look like an off-key tribute act. This was never going to be about three years in the lower leagues.

Well it looks like we have a new midfielder, didn’t expect this but like most here, I will support any player wearing the Hoops and I wish our new recruit the very best of luck. Hibs will come out of this very well too, they could have been badly burned if they didn’t shift him. Had he signed a pre-contract with Sevco in Jan they couldn’t trust him to play to keep his new side down. Now it looks like they will have 2 new good midfielders plus a bit of dosh and their supporters will be happy they gave the two fingers to Sevco. Good result all round.

benjybhoy mul, that has got to be the most ironic article ever written (http://goo.gl/HVR68n#sthash.DdirJo6g.dpuf ).
After so much pain and distress, he ends by “while a few of our fans are indeed a little annoyed at this, if it does indeed come to pass, they do not speak for the majority”.

Listening to Corbyn right now. Very radical. He’ll be assassinated if he becomes labour leader. My money is on a medical assassination.
CND, anti war, anti austerity, help immigrants – it’s a breath of fresh air.
I welcome Scot Allan to celtic if only for the fun factor , although I sincerely hope he is a success ,here something I stole fro Facebook. Scot Allan is pure magic , he wears a magic hat , he could have went to sevco but no he said f..k that,he’s going to play in Europe , he’s celtic till he dies &when sevco get promoted he’ll be 55. …
If Scott Allan signs I have no idea how good or bad he will be but I do know that his soul will be saved.
He is one of those players the smsm media like to refer to him by his full name before graduating to one name like coisty, durranty then of course walter.
Reckon it will be Allan from now on.
Latest rumours are that the Scott Allen transfer is causing apoplexy with some well-known Celtic supporters.
‘What about Dylan,I liked him. Quality till he got battered face a Real Madrid thug’
‘Whit,Liam? He’s the deal, man. On loan, mibbe let them aff,I hope he comes back wi 40 games under his belt, smashing wee player. Oh,and a hunskelper vid’
‘Scott Allen? Aw,ffs. He’s got the same initials as Stuart Armstrong.’
The last one was from MADMITCH. Bummer having to change your posting style, pal.

How’s P&J? Settling in to the madness of Home,Sweet Home?
Or cursing cos it’s effing freezing?
I don’t think Dalglish realised anything about the ‘tide of history’ in 1967.
Although that was our best era, obviously, Rangers had a decent enough team and we wouldn’t have done 9 in a row had he signed for them.
Perish the thought.
For Scott Allan, the extra money will make a big difference at his wages
Some CFC fans may not like Allan because they don’t think he’s a good player
Will there be any CFC fans who don’t want him just because he was a boyhood RFC fan ?
The Green Man
Just a wind up mate.
Hope you are well.

Good article, Paul. It must be pretty excruciating for Sevco fans to so very badly want to believe that nothing has changed, only to see Hibs tell them to ‘clear off’ and then see Celtic come in and effortlessly outbid them.
The unravelling of the sense of entitlement is going to be a long drawn out process…
