Dalglish, we are told, ran to his bedroom to rip posters off the wall, in case Sean Fallon would see them and reconsider, but Celtic have always been open to all. Kenny will tell you, he was assured Rangers were preparing to sign him, but this was Celtic. In 1967. He knew which way the tide of history was flowing.
Sean’s boss, The Boss, once spent his free Saturdays following Rangers. Stein didn’t just become a lapsed Rangers fan, according to his friend and biographer, Archie Macpherson. As Celtic manager, he made it his business to wholly and completely end the dominance they had over the then humble team from Parkhead. I’ll spare the detail of how that sentiment translated down to the vernacular.
Scott Allan made no secret of his boyhood allegiances. He would have gone to Ibrox in a flash, as would so many of our historic greats, but this decision came down to a simple truth. The basic salary on offer at Celtic is around three times what the jungle drums were offering across the city. This disparity means it’s not just about the money, it’s about that tide of history, which Kenny Dalglish knew so well.
Today is witness to one more veil being peeled off, exposing more of the consequences of what happened when Rangers decided not to make provisions for the inevitable challenge to their aggressive tax avoidance schemes. Their Discounted Options Scheme was found to be illegal, as were several of their Employee Benefit Trusts, with the remainder subject to appeal, but the club went to the wall because that inevitable challenge made it impossible for them to borrow other people’s money.
Liquidation followed and hundreds of creditors were left unpaid, but while a newco from such ashes could change their name to Rangers and wear the same jerseys, it was always going to look like an off-key tribute act. This was never going to be about three years in the lower leagues.

Ah The Friday Clump, magic it’s shaping uo to be a cracking day off:))
In the old days the (Rangers I.L.) friendly bank manager would have called Hibs up and said ‘take the money they have offered or you lose your overdraft facilities’
Wow, I think I just heard the ” special one” backing down. It was certainly some sort of compromise.
Getting the hang of deceipering riddles.
HH and a warm welcome to our new ” Bhoy”.

Celtic expect the transfer of Hibernian midfielder Scott Allan to be completed on Friday, subject to a medical.
All details of the move have been agreed between the player, 23, and Celtic in terms of the contract.
Negotiations are ongoing with Celtic midfielders Dylan McGeouch and Liam Henderson over respective permanent and loan moves to Hibs as part of the deal.
However, if any problems occur regarding their moves, the Allan move to Celtic will not be affected.
On Thursday, Celtic agreed a £275,000 fee as well as the transfers of McGeouch, 22, and Henderson, 19 and Allan was at Celtic’s Lennoxtown training base.

Celtic winger James Forrest says Allan has “a lot of flair”
Rangers had three bids for Allan rejected, with the Edinburgh side adamant they would not do business with a Championship rival.
Allan submitted a transfer request following the second of those offers from the Ibrox club.
Talking on Friday, Rangers manager Mark Warburton said: “We only want players here who want to play for Rangers. He is not my player and it’s not for me to talk about it.”
Rotherham made an enquiry about the former Dundee United player but quickly ended their interest when told Allan was not keen on leaving Scotland.
Allan joined Hibs on a two-year deal after being released by West Bromwich Albion last summer and was PFA Scotland’s Championship player of the year.
Celtic winger James Forrest has welcomed the prospect of his former Scotland Under-21 team-mate Allan joining the club, saying he “can definitely fit in here”.
And Forrest does not expect Allan’s well-publicised allegiance to Rangers to be an issue with the Celtic support.
“Once you start playing games, everything will be forgotten about and I’m sure the fans will be right behind him because he will be a really good player for Celtic,” said Forrest.
“I’m definitely sure Scotty can come here and do really well. He’s got a lot of flair, he’s really good going forward and he’s technically very good.
“He’s the type of player that Celtic look for. They’re always looking to bring in top quality players. It keeps everyone on their toes – if you look through the squad every position has a few players who can play there, so it keeps the standards high.”

Poor old (or should that be ‘young’) Warby. He is not fussed about Scott Allan. He only wants players who want to play for Sevco.
Oh, and The other condition is that they must cost less than one of his ‘Toastie’ loafs.
Good old CQN.
Endorsements for Corbyn. Yet another unelectable leftie.
Were it not for his links with various anti-semite nutjobs it would almost be funny. The man will destroy Labour.
Nice beard though.
And so the flannelling begins…

Will there be any CFC fans who don’t want him just because he was a boyhood RFC fan ? –
I would hope not. I would also hope, should Scott become a Tim, that he quickly learns the error of his youth . The better the reception, the quicker the learning.

Still an aul’ rusty shoppin’ trolley comes in handy if you’ve lost yer private jet.
Overfill yer trolley, underspend yer over investment budget!
A new William Low for Ibrox.

Cheers.
I found a solution…I will now refer to Scott Allen….as Paddy Allen.
Job done:)

Seems like the overinvestment is still in the biscuit tin
Brown, Gordon, Mulgrew, Armstrong, GMS, Forrest, Griffiths and Allan if he signs. Probably the first time our minimum of 8 home grown A list players for Europe will genuinely be first team squad players and not filled with youngsters to make up the numbers.

Looks like no new striker for Malmo. Massive gamble. We only have the Thumb.
“The man will destroy Labour.”
Apart from the fact that labour have managed that themselves, that is always the mantra whenever anyone remotely old Labour advocates Left Wing policies.
I have no problem with a person who genuinely believes in Right Wing policies but I have no respect for those who simply regurgitate the soundbites of a right wing media.
Good Lord! I have typed a post concerning Politics! Let me make it clear that I am not interested in Party Politics ( Utopian Socialism is my fantasy) but I am disappointed when the Media line is simply repeated ad nauseam. I expect better from Celtic Supporters 0:-)

Hi Pal
how are you doing.
HH
If James Forrest is being quoted correctly (twitter) and genuinely believes all he has to do is reproduce his form over the last 6 or 7 months during the next 6 or 7 months to be successful he’s fooling himself. I’ve nothing against the lad and genuinely would like him to become an undroppable player, but I just cant see what he brings to the party – specifically a cutting edge type contribution. If we saw him at his best on Wed night whilst we blew 2 points at Rugby Park thats hardly an endorsement. I would rather we had loaned JF out and kept Liam Henderson who I think will be a player, but heyho football is all about opinions as they say and for what its worth thats mines. Feel free to disagree – I wont be offended.
We ran a poll yesterday asking if you thought Celtic should sign Scott Allan. The Yes camp wind it with 42% of the vote. The No camp had an early lead but ended on 38%. Rest were Dont Know – leave it to RONNY.
So far there has been 1884 votes cast – 4 more would be nice!
Welcome Home The Green Man, jeepers but you went Tonto yesterday. Can’t wait for your pal’s debut, if he has a stinker we are going to hear all about it.

Our new signing….who I have re-named Paddy Allen, will have a transformative experience when he pulls the hoops on….if he is clever:)
HH
I really don’t know much about Scott Allan but obviously hope he fits in well with the team, but I must admit Twitter was made for last night. Some right clever Tims out there on the wind up…
The ole glib’s no daft is he?
Yes managed to turn his financial impotence into a witch hunt against Celtic and Hibs.
He’s,even
CORKCELT
I should know better.
In my own defence….he was a Hibs player at the time:)

Spoke with a pal who is a WBA season ticket holder who told me he was never away from Broad Street and was drinking as if he was Dave Allen.

I’m not sure how good Scott Allan is, not sure if I’ve noticed him play before. But I really don’t think we’d be signing him to wind the tribute act up. I just think it’s an added bonus :).
Hail hail!
The Constant Gardener had Scott Allan on trial before he signed for Hibs.
