Coaching, Brendan’s open canvass

580

Apologies for recent radio silence.  Lots going on with some weighty matters which will soon be of interest to you, unfortunately didn’t have time to blog for a few days.

So much going on simultaneously but I can’t really focus on anything with the daunting evening ahead tomorrow. Season Two of the Brendan Rodgers era will be considerably influenced by the events in Trondheim. Rosenborg are a shadow of their former glory, but Celtic must patch a team together and win (or secure a score draw) in Norway to reach the Champions League group stage.

Most Celtic fans I speak to expect us to win the game, but we’re an optimistic lot (cough). Let’s hope that’s based on sound reason.

I was surprised to hear Shaun Maloney has been speaking to Brendan Rodgers about a youth coaching role at Celtic. Shaun was a rare graduate of the Celtic youth system under Martin O’Neill, breaking through as an 18-year-old in 2001. He will also know more about Lennoxtown than practically any player, as he gorged on gym time there during lengthy periods of injury, while others were resting.

Does he have what it takes to be a good youth coach? This is a difficult one to answer. Look east. Ian Cathro had an exemplary record as youth and assistant coach under some talented managers, assisting at Valencia and Newcastle. But Cathro’s success was down to the management structure he flourished under. On his own, at Hearts, he perished. Sacked four days before the league kicks off.

If Shaun joins the Celtic coaching setup he will begin a new tutelage under Brendan Rodgers. The manager may be looking for an intelligent, open, canvass, to work with.

James Forrest thank you for having the honesty, integrity and guts to write the article you did, about a section of the Celtic Support ..

The Celtic Support have built a wonderful reputation, and we were respected not just in Scotland, but all over Europe as well ..

I posted a couple of weeks ago about being at Tynecastle in the Georgie Rd end as this was the only ticket I could get to see Celtic win the league ..

On a day when we were winning the league, to listen to the Bonfire Song being sung loudly by a large section of the 1400 Celtic Support, was both shocking and beyond belief !!

  5. Maybes the polis will be arresting The Griff for offending huns by telling them the truth that their team is deed.

What a waste of taxpayers money arresting them for displaying a banner, police state scotland 2017.

Probably..but in its own way Griff’s comments reveal the private views of the club I suspect.

He’s essentially untrainable. You take him as a whole package …probably what gives him the edge. A manager’s nightmare but he’s first on my teamsheet when fit. ..he just scores..that’s what he does.

I obviously hope The Celts get ahead tomorrow night and we run out comfortable winners but……….supporting Celtic has always been a roller coaster ride on so many occasions, my gut tells me that we MIGHT be in for one tomorrow night ?

I will be placing other bets on correct scores which Celtic win 2-1, and 3-2 etc.

Sadly, my gut tells me also that we will do well to keep a clean sheet ? Hope I am seriously wrong.

Griffith’s needs a captain like Broonie…somebody who is a mature smarter version of himself. A role model to aspire to.

Broonie plays on the edge rarely overstepping it. ..Griff needs to emulate this.

Imagine Armstrong trying to Captain Griff?

  16. G’day Celts,

Thought I’d pop into to say to Auldheid that the many long hours youve put into the fight against corruption is greatly appreciated. I hope it’s successful and you have my support, don’t know if you have the support of anyone at CP, but from the outside looking in it doesn’t seem that you do.

If Scottish football is to survive it will be the supporters who cause real change.

Anyway good luck and hopefully onwards to victory.

Depends if they’ve committed a crime or not.

    English laws’s different from ours.

Freedom of speech is taken more seriously down South.

  21. It’s on twitter there that CFC made a statement today at Glasgow Airport a representative of the club said “your clubs deed mate, beat it” I just knew CFC would come out with both barrels :))

  22. If the video is a true reflection on what was sung ,then all decent Celtic supporters will unequivocally condemn it and the clowns who brought shame to our hard won reputation. I condemned the actual brutal murder at the time on here, so if the video is true then I as a human being am absolutely disgusted.

We seem to spend more time debating front page news rather than back street news. Not just on here, but on all the Celtic facing book sites. That’s a sad reflection .

Anybody who has a different view is classified as a fascist. Let me be clear in my thoughts. Fascism and communism are not polar opposites, they are twins. Intertwined by extremism and intolerance.

Both should have no place inside Celtic park.

In the bigger picture for me personally :I am fed up having to defend Celtics reputation to my work colleagues. And it is definitely getting harder.

It’s 2017, times have changed in this now multi cultural country. We as a support must embrace the times we live in. We must not be the opposite side of the “old firm” coin.

That means Celtic songs and Celtic banners to support Celtic.

Id like to see how this concludes.

It seems to me that Celtic supporters are being tarred with a big brush here. Sure there might be some numpties, but there is more to this.

    A bit scattergun there.

Sure, those that are responsible for these incidents should be called out. However, its a handful, if that, of idiots.

The vast majority of Celtic supporters have nothing to do with that type of garbage, and condemn it.
