Coaching, Brendan’s open canvass

580

Apologies for recent radio silence.  Lots going on with some weighty matters which will soon be of interest to you, unfortunately didn’t have time to blog for a few days.

So much going on simultaneously but I can’t really focus on anything with the daunting evening ahead tomorrow. Season Two of the Brendan Rodgers era will be considerably influenced by the events in Trondheim. Rosenborg are a shadow of their former glory, but Celtic must patch a team together and win (or secure a score draw) in Norway to reach the Champions League group stage.

Most Celtic fans I speak to expect us to win the game, but we’re an optimistic lot (cough). Let’s hope that’s based on sound reason.

I was surprised to hear Shaun Maloney has been speaking to Brendan Rodgers about a youth coaching role at Celtic. Shaun was a rare graduate of the Celtic youth system under Martin O’Neill, breaking through as an 18-year-old in 2001. He will also know more about Lennoxtown than practically any player, as he gorged on gym time there during lengthy periods of injury, while others were resting.

Does he have what it takes to be a good youth coach? This is a difficult one to answer. Look east. Ian Cathro had an exemplary record as youth and assistant coach under some talented managers, assisting at Valencia and Newcastle. But Cathro’s success was down to the management structure he flourished under. On his own, at Hearts, he perished. Sacked four days before the league kicks off.

If Shaun joins the Celtic coaching setup he will begin a new tutelage under Brendan Rodgers. The manager may be looking for an intelligent, open, canvass, to work with.

    Feck sake man, what have i been saying. Its a black operation to demonise Celtic supporters.

    Its a school play.

    DUP connections?

    Its a diversion from the bigger picture.

    Let me ask you. Who hates Celtic so much, that they would go to any extreme to hurt us?

    Im sure you could hazard an accurate guess.

    Jesus wept, do I really need to stick IMO onto every post, take it as a given.

    All decent Celtic supporters DO condemn it;

    It`s a SAD REFLECTION on the MSSM that we end up spending so much time discussing front page `news`;

    I think you are judging Communism on claimed versions of it :

    Your work colleagues , I assume , are `educated` by the MSSM;

    Greenpinata: “That means Celtic songs and Celtic banners to support Celtic.”

    I agree and there are plenty of them . In the main, that is what is on offer at Celtic Park.

    Divide and conquer? Exactly, don’t let them detract us from our bigger picture, no matter how hard they try.

  5. itscalledthemalvinas on

    So let me get this right. There’s scummy trash shouting “paedo” at one of our players in one of Scotland’s most highly policed public places and they don’t get lifted ?

    Move along Timmy,no turning left at the top of the stairs. Its back of the plane for you lot.

    When you are having to defend actions to your `interested` colleagues, don`t defend the actions. Just tell them that every Celtic supporter you know is equally abhorred by these idiots and you have no intention of defending them..

    Do The Scottish Police Force find that offensive? Who was it that said they were “Institutionally Sectarian”?

    That`s because Glasgow Airport is not a Football Ground. `Gulliver`s Travels` has nothing on the ludicrous nature of the OBAFA.

    I know how they work the ‘school play’, believe me.

    Anybody that is familiar with the m.o. of ‘state agents’, understands that the Robinson EDL scenario in Sunderland was obviously, blatantly constructed.

    Simply put, who controls and funds the EDL?

    Again, you could hazard a guess.

    The bigger picture, is Ireland, a United Ireland. Who is terrified of that prospect?

    Celtic official twitter promoting the Kilie cup match tickets. So far about 17 replies saying not going to cup games boycotting or tainted.

    Remember these tweets are global seen by everyone. I wonder if the club are paying attention. How many people need to respond to twitter or not buy tickets and for how long.

    Police officer charged over smashing Celtic Park toilets

    11 July 2013

    From the section Glasgow & West Scotland Share this with Facebook Share this with Twitter Share this with Messenger Share this with Email Share

    A police officer has appeared in court charged with smashing up the toilets in Celtic Park at an Old Firm game.

    Samuel Johnstone, 28, allegedly carried out the offence and a sectarian breach of the peace at the ground on 29 April 2012.

    He made no plea or declaration when he appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court and was granted bail with the special condition not to enter Celtic Park.

    Johnstone is expected to return to court at a later date.

    A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed that the officer has been suspended from his post.

  12. The debate is being dictated by a number of sinister individuals who are trawling the net looking for any story of an embarrassing nature to Celtic which are then published online and also frequently by the tabloids.

    Your opinions are being manipulated and the debate shifted from the real culprits;

    1) The criminals at Ibrox.

    2)SFA/SPFL complicity

    3)Plc silence.

    4)The media

    Celtic’s supporters face an unprecedented backlash by the Police, media and the authorities.

    When one considers the unmitigated bile that is being broadcast about Celtic supporters by organised groups online. This is very concerning.

    Kids are being set up and supporters hounded by online ghouls and yet very few take the time to question what you are presented with or do a little research.

    Meanwhile, 900 folk are banned, Police Scotland continue to criminalise Celtic supporters and Mr Hawthorn and Celtic go beyond the call of duty against Celtic supporters. While apparent continued criminal activity by Sevco supporters goes unpunished.

    This is set against the backdrop of a game that has been discredited by the Supreme Court and where cheating and dishonesty seem to be the order of the day in Board Room.

    Look for yourself;

    @imperialbears

    An action group set up to protect the PUL community, Rangers fans & the Union.

    This will confirm the dangers that exist. There is a campaign out there to damage Celtic and the clubs supporters and settle scores.

    The online 24/7 coverage is damaging and dangerous. Tit for tat attacks both through the net and elsewhere will happen. I have a real concern for the future of the Scottish game. Especially given the tacit approval for illegality that the authorities have given Sevco.

    Basically ‘anything goes’.

    Have they created a monster with this?

    Is the bigot pound our Plc pander to really worth this?

  13. itscalledthemalvinas on

    Where was our security team(do we have such a thing ?) when these monkeys were shouting at the Griff. Wouldn’t dare to ask them to get involved but surely they must be watching and could draw the attention of Paisley’s finest.

  14. LIONROARS67 on 1ST AUGUST 2017 5:25 PM

    If that was even within sight of the tip of the iceberg the “institutionally sectarian” Police Scotland would surely be ashamed?

  15. Shouting ‘paedo’ at someone, particularly someone high profile like LG, in a busy public place such as an airport would constitute a breach of the peace.

  16. My nephew has a broken jaw and numerous facial injuries due to some edl thugs in Sunderland.

    Happened at a mall and he was not wearing colors.

    His accent was the giveaway and only the intervention of a security guard stopped the five cowards.

    The police have arrested two from cctv footage.

    Strange how the Scottish media have not ran with this story as police report widely available.

    I’m sure there were many similar stories from the weekend but truthful reporting is not on the jaundiced mess’s agenda.

  17. Cant wait for this ( every rounds a ) Cup Final tomorrow. Mon the Celts!

  18. There’s a lot at stake at the moment………….a huge game, strained and challenging club relations and the worst Scottish Football cheating scandal since the game started.

    Sorry to hear about your nephew mate, mine wanted to travel up but I told him be careful if you do. I’m sure TR and the EDL supplemented by the North East Infidels would have been out in force as those mobs all have a strong No Surrender to the IRA current of hatred running through them.

    Sadly I think we will be open to attack from said crews all over England if we play down there.

    Still plenty of Scottish/Irish haters down there, I don’t know if you saw the video where the local guy says “effin’ kill him he’s Scottish”

    Since my nephew finished Uni ( sorry Tony D.)) he’s started going on his away days with Celtic and I can’t say I’m not worried when he does:((

    Do you think tomorrows game is one for the silky skills of NB??

  21. FAN-A-TIC,

    I’m sorry to read that and thankfully your nephew seems to be okay.

    There is a concerted effort to throw everything at Celtic and the club’s supporters.

    It is dangerous and cynical and there are a lot of hurt and resentful Huns out there. Who are looking to even the score. Many of them are employed in positions of influence.

    These are dangerous times and they will track supporters and identify them if they see images online that can be exploited. This will lead to difficulties with employers potential etc.

    If I am a prospective employer and I Google a name and an address often all kinds of defamatory material will pop up, if someone with a grudge has posted it.

    To be honest I wouldn’t have faith in some of the employees at Celtic Park when it comes to protecting the rights of Celtic supporters.

    Not pretty.

    Great post , our fans and PLC need to wise up and realise what is going on.

    This has been going on for about 5 years now, there’s a surprise, but in a much smaller basis, things like people being reported to their place of work by these groups like I.Bears, Vanguard bears is another,for using unacceptable terminology. Recently it has taken off and its all because they now think they are untouchable. They are never held accountable, their board and of course Club 1872,their second biggest shareholders defend them to the hilt no matter how reprehensible their behaviour.
