Towards the latter part of the game even when we get the ball with a bit of space we try to play some kind of tippy tappy tiki taki passing, and Germany simply overpower us and take control of the ball. Telegraphed every pass from the kick-off, and they read it before it arrived. In fact they overpowered our game right from the start. Tremendous performance from them. Can only hope tomorrow’s gam is a draw.
Just arrived in our hotel in Krakow – turned the telly on….Germany scored a cracker for 4-0. Telly turned off again. I take it we really were rubbish?

On paper our midfield is the strongest part of our team but it was completely overrun, by a combination of experience and the sweet bird of youth of two young attacking midfielders. Football forever changes, Clarke is stuck in his way of thinking, he now seems so old fashioned that his tactics look way past their sell-by date. Will they be more effective in our next two games who knows? Wouldn’t bank on it.

I would say to my auld mhan when I was at Primary school, “Dad why don’t we ever go to Scotland games?” His grinning reply was “Because we support a team which plays in green and white, not red white and blue….I’ll tell you more when your older eh.”
